A Voice
Hadrian Veska Apr 2019
I saw fires fall
But it was only words
I felt the earth shake
But it was only fear
I heard trumpets blast
But it was just the wind
And in that wind
There was a calming voice
One like a clear sky
Reflected in still waters

The voice spoke
And I said nothing
For in its tone I heard
That it already knew me
My hopes and fears
All of my weaknesses
I could do nothing
But shed a tear

When the voice had spoken its last
Neither it nor I
Were anymore to be found

Those Things Which Sleep
Hadrian Veska Oct 2017
Do they know yet
Of what might come
When the seas receed
And the earth succumbs

When the sun sets last
And the stars fade away
When the night has come
And the moon turned grey

That those things which sleep
Below the murky waves
Might rise again
From their sunken graves

To walk the still earth
As they once had done
In a long distant age
Before the birth of the sun

The Moon-Charred Graves
Hadrian Veska Oct 2017
Around the bend and over the hill
Sit a handful of tombstones alone
On the edge of the wandering woods

Covered in moss fragile and ancient
No names grace those stone slabs
During the height of the day

Come the night of a crescent moon though
Something glitters across their surfaces
Inscriptions in characters no longer spoken

The mere sight of the glyphs
Fills any onlooker with a deep sorrow
As if a spell lays over the headstones

To communicate into distant ages
The pain that was once felt there
On the edge of those ancient woods

Where the moon shines brightest

The Blood-Laden Moon
Hadrian Veska May 2018
The blood-laden Moon drips
Slowly, lethargically
Like molasses to the Earth
Flooding the streets
And the countryside
In a thickening haze
And flooding the mind
Even more so
Until we are not our own
But the instruments
Of prediluvian things
The forces that once ruled
The primordial waters
And wish to bring about
The age of the sea once more
An endless ocean
Under a blood red Moon

Start Again
Hadrian Veska Oct 2017
Dust and shadows were all I saw
After the initial impact
A brief flash
Followed by eons of darkness

The world I knew
The home I had fought for
Gone in an instant
Evaporated to the cold of space

The long war now finished
Both sides scattered to ashes
So many and so much lost
And all for what

To start again

A Quest Unknown
Hadrian Veska Oct 2019
I’ve dreamed dreams
Long and distant wisps
Forlorn wants and vague inclinations
I wander with intent
Thought I’ve long forgotten it
I still feel that geass in my bones
A distant command from my creator
Whom I have never known
And yet I sojourn on
To complete my unknown quest

Simple Tune
Hadrian Veska Jul 2019
I will not entertain
The idea that we never met
There's no such thing
As a happy little accident

We were meant to be
Which is why I crossed the waves
Just to see your face
Because I know it saves

Me from who I'm not
But the me I might become
Darling you saved me
Even if it might sound dumb

And I know the Lord Has his ways
Though who are we to know
That something started selfishly
Could cause so much to grow
The great wide world ebbs and flows
All with reason this I know
Standing with you here my love
It really just goes to show

That there's no

Happy little accidents
Ideas that we never met
No there is no such thing
No thought that I will entertain

There is purpose for us here
What it is will be made clear
Just close your eyes and sing with me
This simple tune and Melody

May It Be
Hadrian Veska Jan 2019
E’en Then may it be

that in the end I am set free

From all man’s schemes and dark desires

His rotten crypts and black walled towers

The very ones that compose my heart

My body, soul and inmost parts

I hope for this because I know

A light will come that no star shows

No sun or moon in a receding sky

And then on Him I’ll lay my eyes

The Word that was and has at last

Returned and held His promise fast

To cleanse the Earth and make it new

To rule on high and to imbue

His Spirit once more forever to be

Within our hearts eternally

There in an inner room
I sat before it
A hooded figure of bone
Fully animate and articulate
Smoke filled the room
Ushering in a more vivid scene
A table with incense
Sat between me
And the creature across
Though possessing speech
It spoke naught to me
Save for vauge whispers
In the far back of my mind
I noticed now too
That candles sat on the table
Gently illuminating
Features of the being
Who sat opposite me
His skull was cracked
In more than a few places
And the pits of his eyes
Seemed ever so strange
Expressive almost
Of a feeling I cannot convey
In the full candlelight
The figure took a sip
From a gold-rimmed cup
Full of a light purple liquid
It poured through is jaw
As I expected
But as it flowed down his robe
The room shifted again
In the expanding smoke
Of fragrant incense
The room was pitch black
If indeed a room it still was
I sat there for hours
Contemplating the darkness
Or maybe just minutes
I could scarcely say
After that time
A new light flickered
In the near distance
Down a deepening corridor
It was just bright enough
To illuminate the being
Who had sat before me
It looked to me
Smiling somehow
Nigh imperceptibly
Then motioned me to follow
Into the warm dull light

The Path We Must Take
Hadrian Veska Jun 2019
Smoke, thistle and gnarled tree
The way we walk is one of three
The road up high, the one down low
And the middle part that most do go
Few did know and fewer now still
That all three ways have their fill
Of danger, joy, hope and hate
Only to tell once it's too late
What path it was they traveled on
When at the end they stand at dawn
At the gates of heaven
Or in the valley of death
All roads we take lead the same place
The only difference made
By the one who walks the path

Is freed at long last

Mummified and embalmed
His service meaningless
Against human pride

I get only once a night
In the long and murky hours

Before sleep finds its way to me

My thoughts lay still
And in the darkness there
My heart takes over my mind

And I dream of being by your side

Yet when the morning dawns
And my mind returns to me
I have no recollection

Of the memories my heart made

So I continue on the next day

Though distant and dim

And planet rims
And when darkness comes
The light to fade
They'll dance again

Make Straight the Way
Hadrian Veska Jun 2021
The voice of one crying out in the desert
The waste places will be rebuilt
The desolate cities reclaimed
Make straight the way
But none have known it
None have sought or understood it
All eyes are shut all ears are closed
The spirit hovers upon the waters
Yet who has perceived it?

Do you not know that the waste places
The desolate cities and the dry deserts
Do you not know that they are you?

Make straight the highway
That the people may return
Make straight the path
That they may be rebuilt
"For a time I was angry with you
I hid my face from you
But only for a moment
In my everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you"

Make straight the path for the Lord
The highway of our God
That we may return unto Him
From every tribe and people
For He has not chosen one people over another
Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say,
The Lord will utterly exclude me from His people
For he that follows the Way
The path leading through the desert
Is a son and daughter of God
As their brother was before them
Who Himself built the path
And who Himself is the Way

The path is firm
The highway made straight

Now return

There is a Name
Hadrian Veska Aug 2020
There is a name made known to all
But what it means has been forgotten
Even by those who speak it

In that one name all are saved
Receiving not just forgiveness
But the remission of all evil

The power of that single name
Is the same as the individual
The great one who bore it

That name was given to us
Those who believe it's power
Doing all that He did

Casting out all unclean spirits
Healing all by that name
The signs that accompany it's preaching

Why then do we not see it
This promised power
Displayed in ages gone by?

Oh you of little faith
Do you not know that faith comes by hearing
And hearing by the word of God

Faith is simply this
Believing that word in your heart
Not just in your head
Then acting upon it
Being sure of what you hope for
And certain of what you do not see

If you believe that name
Which is the name of Jesus
That is Yeshua the Annointed One

If you truly believe it
And do not doubt in your heart
In your heart, that is your spirit

Those signs will follow you too
So stop doubting and believe
Do not wait for a sign

You are the sign
The signs are done through you
You are the body

Of the One called Christ
It's time to act like it
Don't wait on God for this

He is waiting on you
To believe in the  true power of that name
And to act on it

Though now I look beyond it

The wind swept woods and quiet streams
Amid the fox dens and bird nests

Twisted and cavernous
Unlike any place should be
Distorted beyond memory
Whether in my mind or reality
I cannot for certain say

The place is as I recall it
The home of my youth
Though perhaps my recollection
Has been swayed by delusional dreams
Or visions of a reality I cannot see

Every night when I awake
I recognize far less of the world
Than when I had gone to bed
And when I sleep, I dream of memories
Memories I have never experienced

I grow less and less sure
That the world I know
Both waking and dreaming
Are separated by much more

And I do not know
Which side of the veil
Is the side I have come from
And to which side of the cloth
Is the way I should go

Long ago the way north was shut
A cataclysm required
To stop one far greater
But it was only to serve as a delay
For now the ice was melting
And those hollow cities beneath it
Rekindled their foul lights

And usher in the age of their god

It was certainly strange when we found them
No chemistry or reasoning prove its cause
But from first sight every natural inclination vanished
Two species separated by an endless void
Were inextricably connected at their very core
No wars or struggles among them
But a deep subconscious understanding
And a desire to benefit the other
This cosmic bond led us to reach new heights
To come to the very edge of all understanding
But as with all things, when something grows too bold
To confident in its endevours
A force comes in to put it back in its place
And so they came
From where or when unknown
Some say from beyond the very universe we itself
And they dismantled all our acheivments
World after world
Millennia of records and knowledge
Gone in an instant to darkness
The connection between them
Broken, shattered like glass
And the companions hunted to extinction
One by one the stars went out
As the scourge crossed creation
Coming at last to our home
The very place of our birth
A blue green marble on the edge of space
The birth place and resting place of a curious species
Who reached out too far into the darkness
But who were not forgotten
And in long distant futures
Might one day return
With the help on an ancient ally

Stop what you're doing
Take your time alone
Admit to your weakness
You're worn to the bone

It's ok to be weak
But pray to be strong
It's ok to be foolish
It doesn't take long
To feel a fire burning
However faintly so
To know that when praying
You are not alone

Prayed earnestly and often
Has far more power

Some that tell this tale
Said he was aided along the way
