Hope of Glory
Hadrian Veska Jun 2021
To You
The seven stars
The bright cluster
Among the long dark
Do you not know that hope came down?
Faith from the lofty heavens?
And you know it thus returned
Which is why we wait now being sure
Certain of the thing our hope is in
Have you not considered that beyond
Far away and removed from here
Among the boiling lights of night
One not dissimilar to yourself
Might see that hope descend to them as well
And latch onto it as you yourself have?
For indeed there is but one Way
One eternal Truth among the cosmos
One perfect Life to which we all strive
Only made possible by this Hope

The Hope of all peoples

Streams of gold
Flow around
My wounded eyes
Down to the ground
A gift bestowed
A melted crown
Too much to bear
In darkness drowned
My vision blurred
Soon now to fade
I rest my head
Beneath the shade
Please remember
What still can be
Don't waste the world
On saving me

Now Shells
Hadrian Veska Aug 2017
Another lifeless corpse
Added to the ever growing pile
Shells in which men once resided
But now they have gone on

The world is full of color
Artificial and dull
The universe is known
But none of it understood

The beauty of life
Is now a passed memory
For none yet remain
Of the old flesh and blood

Yes they have all gone on
Passed out of memory
Seeking eternal life
And in the end receiving darkness

Limitless and absolute

One-Way Window
Hadrian Veska May 2018
I've seen you out the window
The window to my soul
But you keep staring in
Knowing it's not whole

Sometimes I hear your voice
Distorted through the glass
Oh how I wish you'd stay
As long as I would ask

But I know that can't happen
You're just a passerby
I could never break the glass
No matter how I try

Yet even if I'm destined
To be apart from you
I'll close my eyes and dream
Of things that lovers do

And perhaps in far off sleep
I'll hold you close to me
Though you're far away
I hope that you will see

Through the window to my soul

May Wonder Never Cease
Hadrian Veska Jul 17
What is there to know but what is unknown
To feel it so near yet never grasp it
Ponder at what lays ever beyond
The horizons of all understanding

To be at peace in grasping
All knowledge will never be attained
Yet we will search it out nonetheless
And our species will spend all its eons
Be they long or short

That our wonder may never cease

The hum of engines
Far off and distant
Half ethereal
As if the ghosts
Of long forgotten dreams
Silently churning
Calling out to me
Beckoning me below
And there I do not know
What I will find
Or what will find me
But journey I must
To the Under Earth
Lest that steady hum

Twisting gently into a crown
Which places itself on my head
From where it came I did not see

A Voice
Hadrian Veska Apr 2019
I saw fires fall
But it was only words
I felt the earth shake
But it was only fear
I heard trumpets blast
But it was just the wind
And in that wind
There was a calming voice
One like a clear sky
Reflected in still waters

The voice spoke
And I said nothing
For in its tone I heard
That it already knew me
My hopes and fears
All of my weaknesses
I could do nothing
But shed a tear

When the voice had spoken its last
Neither it nor I
Were anymore to be found

To speak is to order
To bring out of chaos
The form that should be
To bring structure
Out of the smoke of unconsciousness
This order is speech
The very Word we know called truth
It cannot be destroyed
Only hidden and feared
For it has always been
In the very beginning was the Word
The Word was with God
And the Word was God
There is one Word
As there is one truth
For they are the same

Accepting but cautious
Something we both needed
Desperately and we knew it

I just hope we can remember
Though we can never capture
That feeling again
I pray that we might try

It was certainly strange when we found them
No chemistry or reasoning prove its cause
But from first sight every natural inclination vanished
Two species separated by an endless void
Were inextricably connected at their very core
No wars or struggles among them
But a deep subconscious understanding
And a desire to benefit the other
This cosmic bond led us to reach new heights
To come to the very edge of all understanding
But as with all things, when something grows too bold
To confident in its endevours
A force comes in to put it back in its place
And so they came
From where or when unknown
Some say from beyond the very universe we itself
And they dismantled all our acheivments
World after world
Millennia of records and knowledge
Gone in an instant to darkness
The connection between them
Broken, shattered like glass
And the companions hunted to extinction
One by one the stars went out
As the scourge crossed creation
Coming at last to our home
The very place of our birth
A blue green marble on the edge of space
The birth place and resting place of a curious species
Who reached out too far into the darkness
But who were not forgotten
And in long distant futures
Might one day return
With the help on an ancient ally
Hadrian Veska Aug 2017
Swirls of indeterminate grey
Rose up to the sky in plumes
Thick as if they where solid
Obscuring the heavens above
Mirroring the earth below

Before me a tree descended
Down from the living smoke
Full and barren it branched out
Firmly rooted in the grey above
She sat there in its crook

Upside down she starred into me
My very bones felt feeble
Beneath her piercing gaze
She seemed young, though
I knew she must be older than time

She never spoke a word
Though I could feel
Spider like whispers
Crawling in my mind
Thoughts that were not my own

I could feel the intrusive thoughts
Building a web in my mind
Encasing and obscuring
All while she looked on
With her dark yet youthful eyes

I knew that very soon
I would be no more
At least not the me I was now
But it was too late I told myself
My defenses had already eroded

Then she spoke
Not in whispers or hidden things
But clearly within my mind
Though her lips did not move
She pierced the growing shadow

And welcomed me home

Before the darkness engulfed me

The Form
Hadrian Veska Nov 2018
I've found
That art is not subjective
We are subjective
Trying desperately to feel
To grasp at the intimation
That being is not wholly physical
And that there is a higher form
Just beyond our reach
A form our souls may sense
Vague though the sense may be
Art is the pursuit of such a form
Any art that does not adhere to that form
Is vanity of the highest order

Yet it floats along

Though cracks can now be seen
And chipping at the edges
Before, I looked up at this grand cathedral
In awe and wonder of its architecture
Its grand spires and arched doorways
Though now I look beyond it
West, to the rolling hills and meadows
The wind swept woods and quiet streams
Amid the fox dens and bird nests
There I long to rest; to close my eyes and dream
Until evening begins to fall and golden light gently slips
Between the leaves and branches of the canopy above
When the sky is is bathed in royal purple
Then will I awake and return to my home in peace

There is a heaven always on the horizon
Distantly visible by the naked eye
From any place on the surface
One can see its shimmering towers
Swaying and sparkling
As if in a mirage
They say long ago someone left
On a lifetime journey to reach that place
It is not known or said
If they ever arrived
But all who tell the story
Collectively hope
That such a thing could be done
Even by a mortal man
Some that tell this tale
Said he was aided along the way
By one of those great beings
Terrible to belong yet full of grace
When his knees fell to the earth
And he could go on no more
They carried him to the gates
Of that distant heaven
Whose true nature before or since

Will seek it in distant lands
They desire it covetously
That they may reignite

Little do they know
The flame is not what they think
And its forced return
Will doom them all
For the moon looms ever closer
It quivers and shakes
Eager to break apart
And rain down upon the earth

Because I know it saves

Me from who I'm not
But the me I might become
Darling you saved me
Even if it might sound dumb

And I know the Lord Has his ways
Though who are we to know
That something started selfishly
Could cause so much to grow
The great wide world ebbs and flows
All with reason this I know
Standing with you here my love
It really just goes to show

That there's no

Happy little accidents
Ideas that we never met
No there is no such thing
No thought that I will entertain

There is purpose for us here
What it is will be made clear
Just close your eyes and sing with me

Passed to Myth
Hadrian Veska Jan 2018
Despite the worm eaten pages of the book
The hang drawn images still held my awe
Though I could not read the text
The illustrations drew me into a world
A dark one much like my own

Adorned on those pages
Were thirteen figures dressed in black
But the images gave them no evil connotation
As auras of a pale white light
emanated from the cloaked beings

In dark and dizzying chasms it showed them
Evidently searching for something
But one by one through their journey
They fell up to the darkness
Never as themselves seen again

Though their loses great
They carried on until but three of them remained
Sensing their imminent doom
Preformed a dazzling rite
Though what its effects were I couldn't say

The final half molded page of the book
shows those there figures sitting as stones
Down in that abysmal place
Far below some long forgotten city
To the far northern wastes past the plains

No one believed such tales as this
Many disregarded them wholly
Not even giving it the title of fairy tale
As they said "At least a fairy tale
Has a moral or lesson to learn"

But I treasured the worn old book
And it resonated with me
In a way I don't fully understand
I often find myself wondering
Where those thirteen lie buried

Perhaps waking or dead
Below the surface of the earth

From all man’s schemes and dark desires

My body, soul and inmost parts

I hope for this because I know

A light will come that no star shows

No sun or moon in a receding sky

And then on Him I’ll lay my eyes

The Word that was and has at last

Returned and held His promise fast

To cleanse the Earth and make it new

To rule on high and to imbue

His Spirit once more forever to be

The Waters are Deep
Hadrian Veska Mar 2020
The waters were deep and still
As far above as they are below
Waste and void were  all that was
Darkness was over the Earth
A lone spirit stood above the waters
Silent for but a moment
An eternal moment before time began
Then the spirit spoke
And darkness undid itself
The waters split apart
To reveal dry land
The sun, moon and stars
Blinked into being
The Earth and the planets
Their orbits began
Trees and plants sprung
Up from the dry ground
The fish and the birds
Filled the seas and the sky
Animals roamed
The newly formed land
All was complete
But this was not enough
That spirit then planted a garden
To the east of the river
And in that garden by hand
Formed a new creature
In the same way of that spirit
Was the new creature made
Unlike any other beast of the field
That creature was man
The lord of the earth
That creature called man
The companion of God
Two that are one
In the way of their maker
Who Himself is called Us
When He spoke before time
Upon His creation
God looked and was glad
For all was good

Oh that we will return
From here East of Eden
Back to the mountain
Of the Lord our God

But pray to be strong
It's ok to be foolish

To feel a fire burning
However faintly so
To know that when praying

Prayed earnestly and often
Has far more power
