Lunar Fate
Michele Cariveau Oct 2016
She leads me on through the night
like an ancient silver filled balloon
reading a book upon old magic
using my light in the form of the moon

Full as the mother in my guise
one of my trio of faces to show
paused in the midst of my travels
of reflecting the suns bright glow

But..I cannot pause on my road
my cycle through the nights magic
I must surrender myself to my fate
or the pain will build to the tragic

Cost, as I surely must sublime
into the last of my many faces
the Crone, the wise old woman
with my craters showing traces

Of the pain of old and new impacts
of people telling their secrets to me
I cannot hear their tales and wishes
until I break this hold and am free

For Crone to melt into my new form
silent and dark as I quietly sleep
thinking upon the many, many secrets
whispered upon my soul and kept deep

To be reborn as the new Maiden
sharp and sweet in the twilight sky
to be admired as beauty renewed
to be young with my light newly spry

The Music of Life
Michele Cariveau Oct 2016
The red of passion bleeds
like a parrots wing,
into the air and over
a waterfall, flowing
like a woman's hair

bleeding into white,
motionless and serene
standing upon a sunset
overlooking a song
sung into the sea
with others for
patient company

changing into the blues
of a sky of storms
of incomparable oceans
of pools blending
in the twilight
under a white moon

blending into Earth
green with the ease
of plants breathing
out, and in again
showing life
how to live
and breath
shifting
and moving
in the yellow
brilliance of
the sun

Slither
Michele Cariveau Oct 2016
He wears a boa constrictor
draped like an conversation
lounging across his neck

Slithering across his serpent
tattoos, pacing itself idly
along his ****** trek

Serpents tongues
caressing his skin
pleasure the price he pays

Mayan calendars
written in black
marking his long long days

Winking their smiles
upon his fine ***
as he begins to sway

The ladies gasp
when flesh is revealed
as the night he dances away

Strong legs vibrate
along with the drums
the music held so very taut

And all must wonder..
just what magic it is
the tattoos have taken and wrought

Walking the rim
Michele Cariveau Oct 2016
Standing on the brink of Valles Marineris
a canyon spanning twenty five hundred miles
As we stand there I glance at my companion
and we have to share a smile

For we've been dying to explore Mars
climbing down it's six mile depth
exploring all of it's one hundred
twenty five miles secrets of width

We start down a small crevice
and I stumble and nearly fall
he catches me and holds me
but really it wouldn't hurt me at all

I only weigh twenty six kilograms here
but still I don't want to tear my suit
smothering in carbon dioxide air
could not be considered a hoot

We turn on our headlamps
and brighten our lights
as daylight starts to fade
and Mars deep dark night

appears suddenly, just seems to drop
with atmosphere so thin the very stars
you feel you can touch and taste
so very bright and yet so very far

And we can see the two moons,
Deimos and Phobos rising high above
captured asteroids, the companions
of the god of war, each trying to shove

our attention away from what surrounds us
but it does not work
we have things to do and places to see
and we can't afford to shirk

our duties to collect more samples
of what once perhaps  was life
before Mars lost it's water to space
and biology lost it's war to strife

We stroll along a rim of red Martian soil
and look down along a wash
where water flowed at one time
'ere evaporation left the planet harsh

We use our tools to gather samples
hard to believe through our thin suits
we're touching another planets land
leaving behind marks of our boots

to be swept away by Mars fierce winds
as they march to erase and reform
making war upon the craters
and filling the air with huge dust storms

My partner speaks and reminds me
it's time to return to our craft
and I look at him to say
what are you completely daft?

I hate to leave this behind
but inside I know he's right
It's just so hard to leave
such an awe-inspiring sight

I cannot believe the beauty
that lies in front of my eye..
dead planets tectonics once moving
leaving a vista of loveliness behind

Nights of roaming thoughts
Michele Cariveau Oct 2016
I sit outside at night and gaze
at the moon and stars

and wonder ---------------
if I caught a falling star,

would you accept it from me?
as a gift, a symbol, of fidelity

as a captured thought,
brought alive in burning suns

and savored deep
in cherished memories

of your kiss, realized
never to be released

shared forever with
maintenance of new

meeting of lips
placed once again

oh so sweet,
as honey tasted

fresh from the hive,
pressed upon mine

Cygnus X-1..
Michele Cariveau Sep 2016
I look up..into an blackening sky
and imagine a wonder as I fly..
gaze upon Cygnus the swan
and think of X-1 residing inside..

A spinning hole of fourteen solar mass
as black as the devils devious ***
enshrined in belts of orange and red
energy stolen from the star that has bled

Into its fierce companions consuming hole
gnawing on the sun like deaths own toll
blasting out jets like an angels glowing trumpet
swallowing stars like a streetwalker strumpet

Its partner a sapphire star seriously suffering
the loss of mass with no way of buffering
its pull into the black holes continual maul
matter tattered like an old beautiful shawl

six light years away from our Earth
as a massive star its original birth
as a super nova mass playing its role
shrank into a carnivorous black hole

X-1 sprawled as a devouring creation
cruising through the Cygnus constellation
event horizon spinning 800 times a second
even as it grasps and continues to beckon

deadly beauty dancing in an obsidian gown
wearing the stars matter as an elegant crown
energy it has stolen and devoured whole
lost forever to the mouth of a black hole

Silver light
Michele Cariveau Sep 2016
He touches me..as we lie
on a blanket underneath
stars and a full moon

Silver light ghosting
upon our skin..
highlighting some areas,
casting others into shadows

Deep, and as spelunkers
we explore the hidden
light kisses trailing
along chromatic lines

Deeper kisses to exchange
the sweetness we find
and share between us

And I touch him..
fingernails skating
along taut skin

Awaiting my mouth
to find his center
and his vulnerability

As I await his..

So sweet!!
skimming lips and hands
to tease his skin..

As he teases mine

Cradle me to sleep
Michele Cariveau Sep 2016
cradle me to sleep
like a child out to sea
cradle me to sleep
set sail let us dream

we'll sail on an old pirate ship
chasing treasure and gold
we''ll capture an old schooner
travel on oceans silk road
we'll follow an old sea captain
watch him chase an old white whale
look to see if there's an ouroboros
swallowing his very own tale
we'll watch colors sing and dance
across a star-filled ancient sky
see if the man in the moon
winks as we pass him on by

cradle me to sleep
child-like setting out to sea
cradle me to sleep
 come and sail with me

we'll pause at a long lost island
to look at an old wishing well
gold roman coins looking back
as we bid them fond farewell
laugh as we stand at bow
dipping into ocean swells
hear them ringing in our ears
as we pass old mission bells
watch as St. Elmos fire plays
lighting up the blackest night
moving up and down our lines
marveling at such a sight

cradle me to sleep
let's set sail out to sea
cradle me to sleep
hold me as we dream

Sailing between the stars
Michele Cariveau Aug 2016
I travel in a living dream
of sailing between the stars
which wink at me as I pass by
and cast their silvering light

upon my night,
changing my eyes of brown
to purple and shadows
of clear amethyst
to the blues of giants
to greens dim and dark

Reflected in my aura
that moves along the wake
of my boat composed
of memories, both the sweet
and the sharp

My boat shaped like a moon
crescent with ends and peaks
pale yellow of sun reflected
and shadowed with the past
of eclipses and lunar quakes

My goals to see a nova shatter
to sail beyond the minds sunset
to push the boundaries I have made
to  meet and greet the new unknown
to find an atoms subset

My boat rocks gently heaving
upon a dragged time frame
escaping with twists and turns
while dark matter plays its game
of  sublime hide and seek

I straighten my road with paddles
made of left over quasars
I sip a drink of singularity
and pause to admire the colors
of past and present stars
