I know its late, but it’s a Sunday
a lazy sunny morning
                               after the stormy night yesterday
and all I want is to lie
right here beside you amongst the pillows
                                                              and nuzzle upto you
bury my face in your chest
and feel your warmth inching its way from
                                                                         my heart to my toes
the aches and pains of the week
slowly melting away in your bear hug
                                                                      and my world lighting up
with your smile
“aren’t you getting up?”, you ask
my eyes are stuck together with sleep
I’m not ready to let the world in yet
want to shut it out today
but you are persistent
i see you’ve been up before me
i smell the coffee in your breath

                                                               i find coffee-flavoured lips
                                                                   are quite addictive

Say when in a heartbeat will
light dwindle down to the
dance on a taper and mirror-eye
bells?

Say how long a lifetime im-
possible it's quite im-
                                      possible
(expecting that wilted
red flower sunk into
its vase to rise up and smell as
though)

            what's that?
alive?

Might I be the first to allow, with
cold drawing near and burnished
autumn in revolt against vivid-scorched
months, all crisp words and bare
arms,
           reflection on these nineteen
years is done with great anticipation, for
purpose and love and vision and dreams, the
foundations envelop my years, stamp
me with 35 cents and a kiss for luck, good
heavens
                  I'm on my way.

When we see each other again, if
the skies and waters should allow

I will not let you go for a second

learned as we think we are, only
let me take you in once more

                  sunlit feather,
   frays cut a shadow
of barbed wire

.
this morning i made 'barbed shadow-wire' by turning the 'barbs' of a feather in my car vent into and away from the sun, and instantly thought of Angelou's, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, and Dunbar's, Sympathy.  even commutes to work can be poetic.
the fact that 'feather' and 'wire' form a slant rhyme, and that the 'barbed wire' is a kind of metaphor (even though the shadow really looked like barbed wire!)--all this sort of bucks haiku tradition (though some classic haiku do use metaphor and rhyme on rare occasions). and this isn't really a senryu, right, since it's not funny or about... well i guess maybe it could be about human nature.  either way, would be curious as to what haiku float your boat and which ones seem like just a joke ;) even if this is one of them, or doesn't it constitute a flout?
i sometimes think the thunder is the sky raging
                                             for some unrequited passion

the gashes in its heart
                                                                                                                                 bright shining silvery blood
splattered across for all and sundry to see
but for no one to understand and feel
an ache unrecognized must be
so much heavier a cross to bear
with no one to nurse or heal or care
the sky must be lonely up there
all it can do is roar and thunder
acting out its anger
the moon and the stars just stare on
                                                    unblinking sentries keeping watch
                                                                   from too far

and when I think like that I feel my worries slip away
no longer afraid of the thunder and lightning
its just a poor hurt boy
crying his heart away

In deep layers of silence
I used to hear music,
without words or instruments
it did flow,
the birds used tell me-
secrets of listening to nature.
Parakeets spoke in resonances of green
crows and egrets
complemented again and again,
the music, I thought, was a divine hallucination,
but now
it all turns upside down,
You, complain
you keep on hearing someone crying,
from within.
I see eyes welling up,
which are those memories
that blow up, surge out?

Shh..keep quiet for a moment,
a commotion is getting nearer and nearer,
the ice caps are melting,
but who cares,
the crowd has no mind,
they are braying for blood,
Whose blood?
their own, but can the blind distinguish?
*"come, this is my blood, drink it,
cut this bread in to pieces,
eat it, be satisfied.."
I've always been the sane one
Straight and narrow all the way
Never got in trouble
Always went the proper way

Class President in High School
College, results were just the same
I never got in trouble
But no one knew my name

Today, I stole a car in Texas
Drove away into the night
Today I stole a car in Texas
For Once I did what wasn't right
Today I stole a car in Texas
I must be out of my freakin' mind
Today I stole a car in Texas
I drove off and left my past behind

Two kids, a dog ....so normal
A picket fence, A loving wife
PTA and sports and lessons
You know I had the perfect life

I was not one to get in trouble
But, the time had come to take the ball
When folks were asked for a description
I was fat and thin and short and tall

Today, I stole a car in Texas
Drove away into the night
Today I stole a car in Texas
For Once I did what wasn't right
Today I stole a car in Texas
I must be out of my freakin' mind
Today I stole a car in Texas
I drove off and left my past behind

I led a life so mediocre
I'm non-descript, a nowhere man
I just blend in with those around me
Just try and find me if you can

My future's on the road before me
Each day will bring me something new
I owe my wife an explanation
But I just did what I had to do

Today, I stole a car in Texas
Drove away into the night
Today I stole a car in Texas
For Once I did what wasn't right
Today I stole a car in Texas
I must be out of my freakin' mind
Today I stole a car in Texas
I drove off and left my past behind
