Flickering gently, sending an enigma across every face,

Breeze of jasmine scent
bathing o'er us,

Candleflame, scarlet wonder,
source of life, source of warmth,
my relief, my first class solitude.

Dark shadow creatures
of the night, dancing glorious
dances of the ol' days,
them young, joyous girls.

Drums beating in time,
with my heart,
dancers jumping, spinning in time,
all in the shadows
of a single candleflame.

On a mournful dark night,
in the ghastly moonlight...

---What I was thinking when writing it:
I was thinking of African dancers and shadow plays and the eiry moonlight that reminds me of a candle. A completely different world of beauty and magic.

Thru the fiction
Of
High school corridors

Ghost-like children
Stumble in their solitude

Older than their elders are
Stripped of their innocence

Hardly even human anymore

Images of dying
Images of stunted growth

Distrustful of the reality
Of truth's essential
Powers

Merely vague appearance
Lost in worlds unseemly

Stumbling down the corridors
Lost in nightmare's dreaming

••
Poetry of lovelessness
Disguised as love

••
Thus the world created
Is truly dying

The world created
Is surely dying

In the loveless madness
Of the high school corridors

Where the demons of society
Control human destiny

And we just stumble on
Thru the corridors
A bursting

Into flames
I've drunk of the wine of spring

and been intoxicated by the lush sweetness of it's life

I've basked in the sky of the cool summer night

and felt the myriad stars beckoning to my soul

I've felt autumns bitter chill settling into my bones

as the leaves turned scarlet red and knew that winter was near

I've felt the frozen bite of Decembers icy winds wrap me

in their lifeless embrace and steal the warmth from my heart

where we've been
where we are
where we are going

what we've done
what we are doing
what we will do

who we've been
who we are
who we will be

of this?

just

tired.

suns go down and we
sleep

the sun that rises in the morning is a different shade
and we stare,
steps away from each other,
miles
mountains
oceans
If a picture speaks a thousand words,
then I've just written a novel.
I hope it has a happy ending.

Christina

the girlfriend
at high school
as he now

undresses
preparing
for bedtime

she far off
in her house
in her town

her parents
probably
below stairs

watching their
dull programmes
on TV

while she in
her bedroom
undresses

or so he
imagines
(in his head)

watching her
removing
each piece of

clothing
as he too
undresses

in his room
a coloured
centrefold

of a fast
racing car
on the wall

and her small
photograph
by his bed

she gave him
he'd seen her
on the field

at high school
during their
lunch recess

she sitting
with her friends
giggling

then walking
together
off alone

high smell of
lavender
her soft hand

lips kissing
now in bed
lying there

lights all out
just moonlight
reflecting

her image
he pretends
she is there

next to him
not speaking
not laughing

both watching
the moon move
and stars shine

hands touching
fingers entwined
each having

the same thoughts
in shared mind.
