Kiss me.
Kiss me, soft, as I am… passing.
kiss me while my lips are burning, while I yet believe in romance
                                  with soft blush face,
                                                                 hammer heart,
                                                                                        sloppy eyelashes.

                     Lift me.
Lift me like a child on stilts, elevated above the feeble dreams of adults
                                            with tendons taught,
                                                                  fingers splayed,
                                                                              playing my hair like seaweed

bless me.
                              bless me with your consciousness,
with your most pensive furrowed brows
                                                         with your aspirations
bless me with your future.

Feed me.
Feed me at my bedside—but not just tepid broth.
                       Feed me the window view
when my eyes forget to flash,

Feed me the sky

Free me.
                          from the IV,
                                       the monitors,
                                                          the smell of chlorine

So that it may be you and the moon
that sing my last lullaby.

Sometimes, in the night, I see you
I cannot hide from you because you encircle me
And suffocate me with my own feelings
You are dressed gallantly, as I'd always imagined
My Prince
You act as though we are in daily life
You reel me in, then push me away listlessly
I begin to see how I am being mistreated
You tug at my heartstrings until I am on the verge of tears
Then you stop
You bite your lip and look at me tentatively
You stroke my face
Whispering sweet nothings as the daylight hours in my fantasies flit away
Then, you kiss me and all of the feelings the callas I built up around you withheld burst forth
And I can feel everything
With my love for you fully regained,
You kiss me once more and the feelings are palpable
Tangible
Intense
Real
Suddenly, it all slips away
My beautiful fantasy land and you
Everything is gone
I awake to find myself alone in my bed
Our last kiss was in a dream
An oldie. Probably from April
I'm  back to where I've started:

Stained Sheets
Scarred Wrists
Silent Breaks
Subtle Hints
Screaming Mind
Shattering Heart
Shoulders Drooping,
                                     from the bar.
Here I am, standing in front of you
Begging you to stay
Begging you not to see the other way
She’s prettier
She’s better
But please, look at me
Look at me who love you here
Right in front of you
Alienated from this world,
It's as though I'm invisible.
Its like... I'm a ghost.

Perhaps I'm dead – or more like an undead.
Consciously breathing,
Yet unconsciously living.

Unachievable demands too plentiful
For bare shoulders (to bear).
Words carelessly strewn
Cuts into the soul
leaving a void.

Countless wanderings,
Trying to find a home.
Yet left stranded alone;
Always on the toe, ready to go.

I need a complimentary ticket
to depart from the mundane
to the destination – into the moment.
I live the life of a metaphor
Leaking out of stolen pens
I've been carved on pieces of wood
And people still interpret me differently
I choose to remain indestructible
My worth fluctuates with the readers taste
I make a difference in some places
I might just go unnoticed
Like a wilted rose and it's bleeding petals
Lying behind the window pane
I represent the spectrum
In the gray tinted universe
I'm forced into the anecdotes
In places I don't want to be
Creating a dark impression
Like a mirror in front of the wall
Mocking at its own reflection.

I'm staring out of nowhere
My eyes as heavy as the clouds in the sky
Wondering where is somewhere
Until my weightless eyes become cool and dry.

You see, I've got nobody
To sleep on days and wake up at nights are usual
This is not a tragedy
To fall in love is not an option, always a refusal

Insanity is what I'm good at
People call me crazy
I can never repel and attract
This place is getting hazy

I stare with blank stares
My mind is just empty
It's better than to glare
I still wait for serendipity
Sweating on my mat, I curse!
As the light dimly flickers
Off and on it wavers
Like a torch amidst a storm.
For the ten thousandth time I wonder
What is wrong with mother?
My aggrieved home and country
Her pain is mine to bear.

She has many a tale to tell
Troubled much from deep her belly
Wonder how much she can endure
Till body and soul give in.
She was blessed by the heavens
Much to the envy of all
Yet! Alas, she mourns
And weeps in pain untold.

Time and again she follows
Sheepishly trusting her shepherds
She has had a quite a number
With tongues unknown and known
Her plight is not their vision
As she inevitably learns
Her wool and meat and milk
Are all they dare to care.

She breeds enough to share
And feed her dying lambs
But much is lost to thieves
Who lurk in shadows of shepherds.
Destined for royalty she was
But penury has robbed her glory
Awake! Oh mother Nigeria!
And reclaim your lost birthright.
