AA
Seems I found a muse
Was an accidental stumbling
Golden romper and all
With an angelic title beginning
And ending with A’s
I’ll call her AA, for she’s a lot stronger
Than any drink I’ve had hit the lips
See if they know who they are

Now
It's
Only the times
The bells chime
And the doors open
But
No cuckoo comes out
That
Worries me

Smile  blooms in winter
Smile blooms in summer
Smile  blooms in spring

It doesn't know any season
It knows what to do in its life
We can grind our teeth
down to weathered tombstones

together.

Bound by love and sadness,
here we are
the rearguard of the desperate and the anxious -
holding hands
before an ocean
made of all the brakelights in the world.

There's no one I'd rather ignore warnings with
than you.
We rise
not like smoke from the flame
to demonstrate
the Law of Conservation of Energy
-matter shifting forms-
Violent change followed by
heavenward ascension.

We rise
not like the phoenix from the ashes.
No glorious re-emergence from
the ruined form
of what came before.
No rebirth as
the middle stage
of an endless cycle.

Instead
we rise
like an orchid, blooming,
up from the shitheap.
We reach for the sun
even while
our roots sink deep into the filth.

This chain was my home.
This chain is my home.
This chain
will not
always be my home.

I’ve seen a hundred things stranger than
a ship that steers itself.

Not all slaves
have a master
after all.
Fear waits upon its prey
where the light is a shamefaced girl

wind is a fragmented guest
where silence fools the unwary

to chirp the birds forget
where the baiter might be the bait

the hush is not all white
as in that ever ruling night
blood is spilled without sound.

Forlorn as the lovers' lost track
meanders the creek
in moans for the lost
shedding its sighs to the tides.
Sunderbans, January 28, 5pm
With a Hamlet in the
Shakespeare,
a local
quite near
and
it serves a good
beer.

There's a play on at
the theatre
near to here
supposed to be
'not one to miss'

but for sure it'll tour
and I might see it then.

give me a cigar in a bar
and I'll say, ta
very much
(that's a touch of Lancashire)

The deutsche mark turned Euro
but you know
that,
and it's okay in Denmark
too
except for the smell.
