The Dedpoet
I do not know what is real,
Are there words real,
Real the poem,
Are you real,
you that reads this?

I question myself,
Everything and everyone,
The only answer I have
Is that I am alive between
The verses.

I do pretty good most days
Battling my loneliness
Today is not one of them
I really need your hand
*I want to hear your words
Reverberate in my ear
I want to just lay next to you
Feel your skin upon mine
Warming me from outside in
I hate myself on nights like this
When my need for you gives in
This is definitely one of those times
when I wish you knew my kids
Then I wouldn't have to be lonely tonight
I could rest with the taste of you kiss
Missing my friend, lover, muse.....

When I think of you and me
I think of a tree

Sometimes that tree is full
prosperous
beautiful
full of life
So full it reminds me of the stars
Where we sit on a blanket and count them
Where we think they are all ours

Sometimes that tree is empty
Each passing day
more leaves
fall to the ground
Until one day
all that is left is one
Saddened by what it has become

i've known a summer storm
come sudden
out of blue clouds

i've rushed for cover
and prayed
against
bolts of lightning
that walked too near

i've watched the skies
waiting
for the winds that might come close
and devour
me

i've known a tempest
that rages in a heart
and wails so loud
that sunlight can't
shine through

There is no shelter
from the storm
no rest

seasons rage
and the storm wears me thin

there must be
rest

What a terror
What a joy
To feel everything so deeply

I write poems that I never finish
*the end.
