there is music playing over these hills a secret sound
played by the unseen and heard in the early watches
of a summer that hardly sleeps you can count on it
as sure as the sea is only a mirror to be walked across
every morn these days the music is an eternal rolling
mist from out the deeper sea and will play every day

orange light glow across the bay
some ones home
small cottage
haven from the world
free from politics and war
the rough and tumble of the market
a solitary humble abode
breaking darkness this side of the hill
homely warm welcome little house

heat seeps through the walls
all is calm
Orcas patrol the sea
just down the road
one neighbour dives for coal
spilt out the many wrecks
I wouldn't be him
for all the coal in China

talking geese across the field
where all wild creatures live
down there by the shore
where the sea visits daily
covering so much now seen
seaweed and rocks and sandy-
shore where all is still and
resting between the tides
of centuries of centuries -
of moving back and forth

Hills that look like whales
cavorting across a sky sea
Dawn only ever half asleep
yawns into the night dreaming
While all gentle stars shining
peek over the days horizon
fading into a blue tomorrow

Pure heart so fine in charcoal skies
of breath my mind does see
This captured feeling locked inside,
alone as to believe

For what shall come of morning tides
along the wish filled shore
In seashell decorated time,
to want a little more

What sent this ship of harbor dreams
to sail a course so lost
As currents bide my every whim,
now simplified the cost

When once the sun rise happiness
did take a weathered turn
For but a few words offered up
in lessons I have learned

My sails, the moon’s reflective light
does glow an empty grin
Atop the wave’s deserted flight
to want this love again

For this shall be my journey true
in aimless rambled roam
If I have not the love of you
I sail these seas alone

Of courses kept in lock and key,
an island beach does call
Upon this deck on bended knee,
the darkness comes to fall

As life does raise its mighty hand
of you that I do seek
Collapsing firm upon this man
in testament so weak

Come set these chains that hold me tight,
my body craves the pain
As on these seas of bright moon light,
I cry within the rain

When time does dance and hours pass,
I plead to charcoal skies
Explain to me how this can be
in scenes before my eyes

Take me home, my heart does scream,
begin these days anew
My life it lives a constant dream
for but the love of you

once again the shining mirror dreams
Stars reflected very best of universal friends
cavorting while all the world dreaming-
its own dream overlooks its beginnings
Deep down depth of lifes  mirrored star burst
and stars bursting still in the dreaming mirror

mirror flat shining
so asleep
what sea are you dreaming
of
winter storm thrashing
or monsters of your deep
swimming
or carrying ships to shore
safely
or men drowning
buried at sea
Welcoming swimmers
and are you dreaming
of the time creatures
first crawled out your waves
and found the shores
that keep you where you are

You come skipping off the curling waves
salty sea air swirling sand at my feet
in humming songs through shells and logs
restless wind, from where have you come,
and where shall you go?

All my days, soon blow away
only a restless wind
ever seeking

As oceans swell in ceaseless waves
love will empty and spill
into a fleeting place
we are ever
longing
to fill

When I go to the sea
I carry an empty vessel
gathering salty air to breathe inside
with grains of sand in my hands
some seaweed or shells,
you can never tell, driftwood
or broken bells
all the day, a sway and pull of tides
the breadth and depth of ocean
how the pounding waves carry
my empty vessel away
