When I read what you write
all I want to do is sing you a song
because I want you to
always feel like you belong
when I read what you write
and it seems like you're feeling kinda bad
I just want you to know
that I feel more than slightly sad
but I will always say
write about what inspires you
poetry should come from the heart
it should always have meaning too
and when I hear you sing
I want you to know
its beautiful, just like you
even if you don't think so.
And I know you know,
no matter what
I could never hate you...
Let's open a book
and read the first page.
Once upon a time
in a long forgotten age
there lived a young girl
she didn't possess any magic powers
and she lived in a house
not locked in a tower
in fact that girl
why she could even be you
let's imagine she is
and make this story come true.
You could be my Snow White
the most beautiful of them all
or you could be my evil queen
your jealousy will be your downfall.
You could be my Cinderella
your true beauty will be revealed at midnight
or you could be my Rapunzel
your hair truly is a magnificent sight.
You could be my Alice
lost in a wonderland inside your head
or you could be my sleeping beauty
exploring new lands while asleep in your bed.
You could be my little mermaid
with your enchanting voice
or you could just be yourself
because honestly that would be my choice...

When you say I'm not a proper man, what am I then?
I read and write, I like poetry and I like romance
I might not like fighting or drinking like most men
but I'm not ashamed to admit that I have feelings and I'm not scared to express them

I like to watch ballet and listen to Opera
I like a bit of Mozart and some Beethoven
one of my favorites is Pachelbel's Canon in D
I think it's right when a man gets down on his knee

I believe in love, princes and princesses
I watch films like The Notebook and The Lake House
I like walks on the beach and watching the sun set
and I get scared when I come in contact with a threat

I like antiques and museums
I like art and shopping
So I might not be the same as other men
but if I'm not a proper man what am I then

I like football, I like fast cars
I want to take a trip to the planet Mars
I don't like cleaning, I've never had my nails done
I like women and I've always wondered what it'd be like to shoot a gun

So if I'm not a proper man, what am I then?
This is the second one, I hope you like it.

I'm dying
I said to my wife
she said you're right.
She never did editorialize.

I'm dying
I said to my children
my children said
you're funny dad
way too wild.

I'm dying
I said to my job
They smiled
Your job
we have others
we can rob.

I'm dying
I said to the redwoods
they laughed out loud
your life span is the same as a cow.

I'm dying
I said to the owl
the owl said
who not you.

I'm dying
I said to my truth
My truth said
no doubt.

I'm dying
I said to my life
my life said
you're next.

there are worse things than
being alone
but it often takes decades
to realize this
and most often
when you do
it's too late
and there's nothing worse
than
too late.

sometimes i wonder why i am alive
then i remember that you're be my side
but what if we ever lost track of forever
and realized we couldn't survive it together?

Theres plenty of fish in the sea.
But at least take the hook out of my mouth
before tossing me back in the ocean.
So I can move on.

She dances on the rooftops.
The tar and cobblestone: her truest stage.
She'll never fail her public; the stars gaze with adoration,
And dance for them until the curtain calls.

She dances on the rooftops,
The ledges drawing near.
The storm clouds utter their applause.
The crescendo drives her on.

She dances on the rooftops,
Wielding a pistol and her pills.
The sky demands she take a bow,
Before the pavement-curtain falls.

We've become cliché,
And not just one,
But a multitude.
The forbidden romance.
The older man.
The late night phone calls.
The cigarettes after ***.
The hopeless romantics.
The songs we sing to each other.
The late night drives to nowhere.
The fling that never ends.
We've become cliché.
And I couldn't be happier.
