Rolled back regulations
Sounds so strange
To people who believe
In climate change
Methane emissions
In the atmosphere
Add to global warming
But they don’t care

They just wanna drill
Despite the loss
That we the people
Pay as the cost
And by the time
That all that drilling’s done
We’ll lose our protection
From the sun

They ignore
Every warning sign
When money is
Their bottom line
And here’s the thing
That doesn’t make much sense
Cuz we cannot avoid
The consequence

We are ruled
By avarice, indeed
So we take much more
Than we need
Even though they hear
Our voices plead
We need to use restraint
To succeed

It took more than a day
But Rome finally fell
So don’t think that we
Couldn’t as well
See we seem to be
Headed for hell
In a proverbial hand basket
Why can’t you tell?

What makes us special
Haven’t you asked
Is it just cuz we say so
We’ve been unmasked
So the self-satisfaction
In which we usually bask
Isn’t worthy of us
Even raising a glass

We are at a precipice
Isn’t it clear
If we continue like this
The future we hope for
We’ll probably miss
Let’s do what we can
And try to resist
Innate inertia and being remiss

They talk about
Making us great again
They’d like to take us
Back where we’ve been
But time moves forward
So let’s not pretend
We can ever return
And then seek to ascend

Round them all up
The President said
Disrupt their sleep
Get ‘em out of bed
Send ‘em back to the countries
From which they fled
‘Cuz he don’t give a ****
If they wind up dead

A heart as cold as ICE
Doesn’t factor in
The kinds of lives they led
Or from where they’ve been
He’d like to see a country
Where if you have white skin
You’ll have the advantage
Over other men

His in-laws are immigrants
But their pigment is white
One was even a Communist
But he finds that alright
He’s an avowed Xenophobe
Who often gets uptight
When it’s someone of color
Who out of fear took flight

He wants ‘em rounded up
And deported right away
He doesn’t give a ****
Whether night or day
His racist like tendencies
Are always on display
He’d like Latin Americans
Deported now today

Our mayor’s running
For president
Though he’s
A Gracie Mansion resident
Guess he’s trying to set
A  precedent
Of a failing administrator
Who’s become hell-bent

On pursuing his ambition
You could say
He’s a man on a mission
But we’re the ones
Being played out of position
While he’s having fun
By his own admission
Hanging out a sign that reads, “gone fishing”

Being Mayor of New York City
Ain’t part time employment
Made for his convenience
Or for his enjoyment
Like a campaign stop
Requires redeployment
Being Mayor requires
Full-time employment

He’s running for president
Alll over the land
While homelessness at home
Is out of hand
We do our best
To try to understand
But he’s doing it
Just because he can

Russians attacked
Our democracy
But there’s little interests
If you ask me
On the part of some lawmakers
Who appear to be
More interested in
The leaks that they see

Russians attacked
Our democracy
But where is the furor
Like in Benghazi
Something ain’t right
And here is the key
There’s more partisanship
Than there needs to be

Russians attacked
Our democracy
But he’s not upset
Like he should be
Not the least bit ruffled
From what I can see
And his attitude
Is a real mystery

Russians attacked
Our democracy
And steered an election
That we thought was free
By hacking emails
Of the DNC
And leaking them
As the case may be

When did she become
The sacred cow,
That she apparently is
This instant right now?
Can anybody tell me
Why or how,
The rest of the world
Is expected to kowtow?

She’s done more
With the desert sand
Than the people who rightfully
Call it their land
But her hegemony
Is out of hand
And she’s gotten away with it
Just because she can

Call this what you want,
How ‘bout, a word to the wise?
Tell the truth about her
And you’re ostracized
Is it any wonder why
She’s despised
By many of her neighbors
Who have family ties

Everybody knows,
She once was victimized
As the world stood by
And watched with their-own eyes
While ignoring calls for help
Or her lonely cries
But she’s now the sole owner
Of the guilt franchise

Saddam is gone
Khadafy too
The world has changed
From the one we knew
But black’s still black
And blue is blue
It’s our aggression
That we should rue

Past mistakes
We won’t admit
It’s a different day
But the same old ****
Seems we’re looking
To commit
A few more troops
When we should quit

Let’s move forward
Don’t look back
We’ve lost the war
In Iraq
Believe it or not
It’s no less a fact
We can’t give ‘em
What they lack

Democracy
For everyone
Can’t be achieved
Under a gun
One size will never
Fit us all
See we like Rome
Could one day fall

It’s the same old strategy
Ain’t nothing changed
Because it’s from reality
That he’s become estranged
So he pillories Hillary
And lies about Biden
While it’s from the truth
He seems to be hiding

The facts of the matter
Are there for all to see
Though some of us wish
They didn’t have to be
His megalomania
Might be the key
To why he’s perverse
And he’s now up a tree

Unfortunately that is
Not all there is
The problems that exist
Are primarily his
And it’s enough to make you
Say gee ****
You see there’s no soda
Only the fizz

Forget about the country
It’s all about him
And he operates
On a mere whim
He has no problem
Throwing others under the bus
See it isn’t in God
That he places his trust

I guess it figures
They were just sand *******
And his heart’s been hardened
So he chose to pardon
Their Blackwater killers
Mercenary distillers
Of death and destruction
It’s a logical deduction

They were hell-bent
Destroying whoever went
Beyond a certain point
By bloodying up the joint
They all were identified
And convicted once tried
But now the controversy’s starting
Since he gave them a pardon

Iraqi innocents
Dead and gone since
The sons and daughters
Of people who never fought us
Victims of the slaughter
Perpetrated by Blackwater
Monetarily driven
Now all but forgiven

Though of brown  skin
Neither foe nor friend
Killed for no good reason
During that killing season
From the evidence we see
They were killed summarily
And their killers let out
Left to mingle and walk about

Three years since Sandy Hook
Yet a mother still cries
Because memories live on
And the pain never dies
But little has changed
You begin to realize
Seems we haven’t learned
What we should despise

Twenty children and six adults
Murdered that day
Amid the screams and shouts
But it wasn’t the guns
So the NRA flouts
In the aftermath of chaos
They’re casting doubts
In between the tears and crying bouts

Nine hundred and ninety-four
School shootings since then
So we must ask ourselves
Will it ever end
Or what will it take
To make it suspend
Having more guns
Isn’t the answer my friend

The pursuit of life and liberty
Is an unalienable right
While that well may be
It’s probably a right
That we won’t get to see
As long as we allow
Bullets to fly free
We lose our lives and our liberty

Sankofa, looking back
To go forward
The past is a fact
We can’t ignore it
Nine-Eleven happened
On somebody’s watch
Because the intelligence
Was ignored or botched

Like laundry
Dirt comes out
In the rinse
Through the quandary
We’ve been safe ever since
That doesn’t erase what happened
Apparently
Someone was napping

People hate it
When I name the names
They debate it
And play mental games
So I won’t pin the tail
On the donkey
Or mask it
By being too wonky

For the sake
Of my argument
If it takes
Me having to relent
By not pointing
An accusing finger
My avoiding
Will make the thought linger

It’s Satan’s world
That’s how it seems of late
Especially when God’s people
Appear to abdicate

There’s trouble everywhere
And life’s a living hell
For far too many people
Caught in the devil’s spell
They’re busy seeking this world
With no thought for the next
Worshipping possessions
And engaging in loose ***

It’s Satan’s world
That’s how it seems of late
Especially when God’s people
Appear to abdicate

Some don’t have a conscience
And they’ll do anything
Like sexing fourteen year olds
Who like the songs they sing
They take away their innocence
Cuz they don’t know the deal
But we’re exposing them right now
So they’ll know how we feel

It’s Satan’s world
That’s how it seems of late
Especially when God’s people
Appear to abdicate

Some want the best of both worlds
They want heaven while raising hell
And we’re not making judgments
You can look at them and tell
That they’re in bed with Satan
While they say they love the Lord
Just look at what they’re doing
Cuz their deeds can’t be ignored

It’s Satan’s world
That’s how it seems of late
Especially when God’s people
Appear to abdicate

Here’s the deal let’s keep it real
Cuz we’re not out to play
It may not be tomorrow
But you’re gonna pay one day
Cause all things done in darkness
Will soon come to light
Just because you’re a celebrity
Don’t mean you’re living right

It’s Satan’s world
That’s how it seems of late
Especially when God’s people
Appear to abdicate

Saudia Arabia
Protectors of the Islamic Faith
Is kingdom that’s not safe
Whose behavior makes one chafe
Under MBS it’s anybody’s guess
Who’ll be killed or at best
Locked away in a hotel
Until their wrists and ankles swell

Although the evidence is murky
In a motion that was jerky
At their embassy in Turkey
They killed Jamal Kashoggi
Before he could light a stogie
And chopped his body up
So as not to interrupt
Their plot to cover-up

How about the war in Yemen
That has no predictable ending
Seems to have ‘em hemmed in
And what they cannot hide
Is that it’s clearly genocide
Which the US is complicit in
In the name of King Salman
Look at the weapons that we send

What we can’t ignore
Are their actions we abhor
Which they must answer for
Or is it business as usuall?
Because of our refusal
To make them conform
To accepted norms
Which should set off alarms

A baby riding in a car
On the Easter holiday
Lost his life just that quick
Cos a bullet went astray
A young girl walkin with some friends
Soon to graduate
Will not now nor will she ever
A bullet sealed her fate
What the hell is goin on
Can you give me an answer
Why do bullets **** more of us
Than heart attacks or cancer
I’ve been tryin to understand
Listener what you say
Could it be something (that was planted)
In our DNA

The ravages of the savages
Can be felt on the streets
Where innocent bystanders
Often catch the heat
From those bullet-riddled operas
That all too frequently repeat

The examples are there
For us to find
Where should I begin
Pick up any newspaper
The list just doesn’t end
Of people who’ve been slain (unnecessarily)
Must we be subjected
To the violence that we see
We too are entitled
To the pursuit of happiness
So why is it that we’re content
To settle for much less
Haven’t we buried enough
Daughters and also sons
For us to be sick and tired
Of the violence and the guns

The ravages of the savages
Can be felt on the streets
Where innocent bystanders
Often catch the heat
From those bullet-riddled operas
That all too frequently repeat

Call it an indictment
If that’s how you choose to view it
But nine times out of ten
Who are the ones that do it
In our own communities
Self-hatred runs real deep
And so we **** each other
As if walkin in our sleep
If we are the problem
Then we can be the cure
And if we put a stop to this
It won’t happen anymore
How many sad funerals
Must each of us attend
Of a beloved relative
Or a real close friend

The ravages of the savages
Can be felt on the streets
Where innocent bystanders
Often catch the heat
From those bullet-riddled operas
That all too frequently repeat

Most of us will concede
It doesn’t make no sense
What will it take for us to develop
Zero tolerance

The ravages of the savages
Can be felt on the streets
Where innocent bystanders
Often catch the heat
From those bullet-riddled operas
That all too frequently repeat

They have no right to take away
What they can’t give back
Human life should be respected
As a matter of fact
This given is ignored
By the savages in our mist
Who’d rather pull out a gun
Than fight you with their fists
Clearly they are cowards
And it’s obvious
That none of them are marksmen
Judging by how frequently they miss
Why should we be sympathetic
Though they’ll make the claim
That it was just an accident
Because they ******* aim

Most of us will concede
It doesn’t make no sense
What will it take for us to develop
Zero tolerance

The ravages of the savages
Can be felt on the streets
Where innocent bystanders
Often catch the heat
From those bullet-riddled operas

Nobody really knows
But I guess we can suppose
That terror’s at the root
Or maybe that point’s moot
Fact of the matter is
What speculation gives
Is us a working theory
Though all of it is scary

We’re left to wonder why
A plane falls from the sky
And no one can deny
The terror alibi
But people don’t cha see
It doesn’t have to be
What’s the reality
I don’t know, search me?

And the accuracy
Of the early reports we see
As we try to figure out
Is questionable no doubt
Because without the evidence to show
We don’t really know
What the true answer is
To the present quiz

We’re left to wonder why
A plane falls from the sky
And no one can deny
The terror alibi
But people don’t cha see
It doesn’t have to be
What’s the reality
I don’t know, search me?

Whatever theory that they choose
Becomes the breaking new
And images will replay
Until the cameras go away

Nobody really knows
But I guess we can suppose
That terror’s at the root
Or maybe that point’s moot
Fact of the matter is
What speculation gives
Is us a working theory
Though all of it is scary

I took a journey in my mind
Back to another place and time
Now all I want is another line
Seeing is scary to the blind

Seeing is scary to the blind
Ya never know what you might find
Reality can be unkind
I feel the need to just unwind

The past and present gets confused
Just like the needles that I've used
My flesh was made to be abused
They say detox but I refuse

Seeing is scary to the blind
Ya never know what you might find
Reality can be unkind
I feel the need to just unwind

Now you might think that I'm insane
Cause I get off on my own pain
It's something deeper in the brain
A closer look and you might find
Seeing is scary to the blind
Seeing is scary to the blind

I feel the warmth of mother's womb
Or perhaps it's just impending doom
Could be the weight of my own tomb
So all that's left for me is gloom

Seeing is scary to the blind
Ya never know what you might find
Reality can be unkind
I feel the need to just unwind

Now you might think that I'm insane
Cause I get off on my own pain
It's something deeper in the brain
A closer look and you might find
Seeing is scary to the blind
Seeing is scary to the blind

Seeing is scary to the blind
Ya never know what you might find
Reality can be unkind
I feel the need to just unwind
Excuse me while I take a hit
Cause everyday I feel like ****
If I had sense maybe I'd quit
I  tell myself but still I find
Seeing is scary to the blind

He’s selling horseshit
But nobody’s buying
Other than his base
Even they know he’s lying
While his spokespeople are
Out front denying
When behind closed doors
You’ll hear ‘em sighing

He selling horseshit
By the ton
But he isn’t fooling
Anyone
And now his lies have him
Under the gun
So ask yourself this
Is he having fun

He’s selling horseshit
Now it’s starting to stink
But he still assumes
That people don’t think
So he counter punches
Like, a boxing rink
Meanwhile the country’s
Begining to sink

He’s selling horseshit
And we’re getting tired
Of him and the folks
That he chose to hire
Like Kelly Conway
Who's become a liar
Or Sean Spicer
Whose pants are on fire

For him the law
Is a sport
As outlined in
The Mueller Report
He’s selling
This nation short
He better hope that
He doesn’t get caught

He defies
All the rules
Like the country
Is comprised of fools
That he can use
As tools
Or just convenient
Foot stools

He’s an anomaly
As upon review
We can see
Who’s been on
A lawless spree
In this homeland
Of the brave
And land of the free

He’s an
Embarrassment
Who refuses
To relent
Perhaps it’s because
He’s hell-bent
On living a life
That’s misspent

So you want a ticket
To paradise
Before killing everyone
You see in sight
Read the Qu’ran
Maybe once or twice
And you won’t be listenin’
To a fool’s advice

You think if you die
You’ll get seventy-two virgins
So you blindly follow
A mad man’s urgings
Which will lead you to hell
After your conversion
You’ll be fuel the fire
And the devil’s diversion

Jihad Akbar
The great jihad
Ain’t about random killing
So before you start
It’s the battle that is waged
Within each heart
To stay on the straight path
Havc you done your part

Islam truly is
The religion of peace
Despite the things you see
Throughout the Middle East
Or the false prophets who are down
With the beast
Promoting ****** and mayhem
Which has increased

All of ‘em had better
Leave Islam alone
Because their religion
Is all their own
See they’re the last ones
Who should throw a stone
At others who disagree
With how their movement's grown

Shakespeare might have called it,
“Passing strange!’
That some do not believe
In climate change
Even though we’ve
Become estranged
From the atmosphere
That has rearranged

Some are inclined to dismiss,
The Green New Deal
Because to them
It’s lacking in appeal
Simply put, they say
That it’s unreal
So they attack it
With a sense of zeal

We just passed through
The hottest July on record,
Don’t believe me?
Go ahead and check it
Then use your intellect
To dissect it
Then what are you gonna do
To correct it?

It’s getting hotter
Each and every year
What does it take,
For them to start to fear?
What has to happen.
To make it crystal clear?
That our end
Increasingly is near!

Today’s shameful events
Have come and gone
But it’s for our nation
I’m obliged to mourn
Though tomorrow
A new day will be born
The darkest hour
Is just before dawn

Weeping may only
Endure for a night
But tomorrow everything
Will be alright
Some see the darkness
But I see the light
What the President did
Served to incite

A mob abandoned
All sort of decorum
And invaded the halls
Of a congressional forum
Say what you will, but
It’s impossible to ignore ‘em
And the person responsible,
Wants us to implore him

We’re well aware
That the President isn’t right
And who knows what next
He might incite
Before he steps off
Into that good night?
And what kind of war
Might he have us fight?

She read about it in the papers
Or saw it on the TV news
However word got to her
No doubt at first she refused
To believe what they were saying
That her man was out there playing
And if it’s the reality
It’s something she didn’t see

She don’t wanna be that woman
Who sticks by a man that cheats
It’s a tired kind of scenario
That so often now repeats

She’s **** and attractive
The object of most men’s desire
It’s a mystery to her
Why she hasn’t lit his fire
And what she’s now being told
Only turns her warm blood cold
To publicly humiliate her
Said to her that he must hate her

She don’t wanna be that woman
Who sticks by a man that cheats
It’s a tired kind of scenario
That so often now repeats

She threatened to take his manhood
If it turned out to be true
Even though that’s quite extreme
It’surely something she would do

She don’t wanna be that woman
Who sticks by a man that cheats
It’s a tired kind of scenario
That so often now repeats

Hang in there for a minute
Her story’s almost done
To him it wasn’t serious
He was only having fun
And while that well may be
The thing he didn’t see
Was the affect as it were
That it was having on her

She don’t wanna be that woman
Who sticks by a man that cheats
It’s a tired kind of scenario
That so often now repeats

She threatened to take his manhood
If it turned out to be true
Even though that’s quite extreme
It’s surely something she would do

She’s been vetted
More than most
Others would have quit
Or long been toast
She’s still standing
That’s no idle boast
And she’s never stopped  running
From coast to coast

How many times
Have they knocked her down
And she’s gotten back up
Off the ground
Brushed her shoulders
Then looked around
Two steps ahead of
Their blood hound

Her enemies are everywhere
Pointing their fingers
But she doesn’t care
Cuz who the hell are they
Trying to scare
She’s never been naive
She's accutely aware
They're always coming at her loaded for bear

She’s lazer focused’
And she won’t relent
Until they call her
Madame President
And if you think not
You haven’t got a hint
Cuz she’s determined
And she has the blueprint

Most girls wouldn’t have

Promising to weather
Anything that came their way
Something that the inexperienced say

It’s like they say
You live and learn
Cos their romance
Took an awful turn
At first in subtle ways
They couldn't discern
But eventually kindling wood
Will burn

It’s two years later
And she hasn’t been found

Word gets around
Some swear her body’s
Six feet down
Buried somewhere
In the ground

Shock waves through a nation
Rapidly losing patience
With a president
Who’s not the man they sent
To Washington DC
Nor will he ever be
The kind of person who delivers
What he promised campaign givers

All he does is lies
And give convenient alibis
For the fact he failed
And needs to be assailed
For being on an ego trip
He’s all bluster and all lip
And everybody knows
He’s not the man they chose

Surrounded by sycophants
Same old music same old dance
And none of ‘em are qualified
For the jobs that they applied
They’re clearly a ship of fools
That he uses as his tools
To slowly destabilize
Right before the people’s eyes

And the Russians would appear
To be everywhere
Though that fact might be absurd
He hasn’t said one nasty word
About Russians to this date
Or Vladimir who we all hate
His blind supporter are now seeing
That he’s a worthless human being

I’m shooting up
And it’s another year
See I don’t have
No more time to spare
I need to change
My present atmosphere
And find a way
To get outta here

I’m no longer shooting
For the high
I’m tryin to stay well
Is my alibi
If I keep shooting up
I’m gonna die
And ******
Will be the reason why

Thought I could quit
If I tried perhaps
I did alright
Before my last relapse
People places things
All of the usual traps
I rolled a seven
Before I rolled craps

I’m no longer shooting
For the high
I’m tryin to stay well
Is my alibi
If I keep shooting up
I’m gonna die
And ******
Will be the reason why

They call it getting high
But it takes you low
The question is
How low will you go
Which you can’t answer
Because you don’t know
Long as you’re craving
That same afterglow

Every day I’m tryin’
To cop more
******’s a drug
That has a certain lore
So you have to
Shoot more than you did before
To keep those cramps
From knocking at your door

I’m no longer shooting
For the high
I’m tryin to stay well
Is my alibi
If I keep shooting up
I’m gonna die
And ******
Will be the reason why
If I keep shooting up
I’m gonna die
And ******
Will be the reason why

Should we become distracted?
By the way the president acted
Or the press attention he attracted
When he should have been redacted
Must we just ignore
Alll that went on before?
Like him threatening a war
On North Korean for sure

Should we just forget
The things he won’t admit?
Like Putin and other ****
Or the answers we usually get
He must think we’re ignorant
To the fact that he’s hell-bent
On disguising, what he meant
Or discovering his true intent

Does he really think we’re fools
Or maybe convenient tools
So he can break the rules
That they teach in ethic schools
Does he really think we’re blind
And don’t see him cross the line
Time and time after time
Or his kind of paradigm

Does he even care
That the public is aware
He is acting laissez= faire
Though he’ s getting quite a scare
From the Robert Mueller probe
He’s afraid he’ll be disrobed
As he’s placed under a strobe

Since 1619,
American slavery’s first day
******* conspicuously
Has been on display
So what was that old fool
Attempting to say
That had the President
Tweeting away

If they have power
No need to tell us
We’re the people
Who in God
Place their trust
And pledge allegiance
To a nation
That doesn’t represent us

Their power doesn't
Need to be reinforced
Nor through crude slogans
Have to be endorsed
Or in the case of white supremacists
Awkwardly outsourced
It’s something for which
They’ve never shown remorse

We witness *******
In how we’re policed
And in the court houses
To say the very least
We never get the benefit
Of the doubt
And that’s something long ago
That we’ve figured out!

Have we lost our minds
Since Columbine?
Gun violence is a cancer
For which there seems be no answer
But political inaction
Has served as an enhancer
To repeated tragedies
That never had  to be!

Children attend school
With the possibility of being shot
When all they should have to worry about
Is whatever grade they got
Gun violence and school shootings
Seem never ending
What kind of message
Are our elected officials sending?

Second Amendment rights
Be ******
Where our priorities get jammed
Some of our rights
Need to be amended
When they’re not used
The way they were intended
Perhaps they simply need to be rescinded

Expressions of condolences
Come too little or too late
When you’ve lost your child
Through a random act of hate
Perpetrators well may be
Labeled as insane
But the National Rifle Association
And gun violence is our bane

Even a blind man can see
Where I would be
If you weren’t inside of my life
Weren’t my friend and my wife
And I’m happy to say
My life’s better in every way
And I love you more
With each passing day

Guess your love is the key
Everyone can see
All that it’s done for me
Since it’s been us and we

Blessed was the day
That you came my way
And I also must say
That I’d never betray
What you’ve given to me
Baby don’t cha see
How you got me sprung
Like the words from my tongue
Guess your love is the key
Everyone can see
All that it’s done for me
Since it’s been us and we

And our passionate nights
Give me bragging rights
Of one thousand delights
Which always excites
My inner core
Serves to make me want more
And so rest assured
That I thank the Lord

Since time began
I can’t think of when
My people have been appreciated
For their melanin
So why don’t cha try living in
The skin that we’re in
Before you decide
Whether we’re foe or friend

Though black is beautiful
It’s been said
And long before slavery
We’ve seen where that’s led
Black women inside of
A white man’s bed
And black men subjugated
Or summarily bled

These are statements
Of salient facts
On the history of how
Whites have treated blacks
And now is no time
For us to relax
We’re not that far from
Plantations or shacks

But let me not end on
A sour note
Though I could continue
To emote
Truly optimism
Is what floats my boat
So if you must
Let that be your quote

We’re gonna have to answer
For our nation’s past misdeeds
So calls for reparations
To address present needs
Shouldn’t just be dismissed
Totally out of hand
Clearly there’s a debt owed
Is that so hard to understand

We can’t simply wish
The sins of the past away
We’re gonna havta answer
Sooner or later some day

Our history tells the sad tale
Of countless acts of genocide
Look at the indigenous peoples
And how so many of ‘em died
Then there’s the African
Who was forced into slavery
Robbed of all family ties
As well as their dignity

We can’t simply wish
The sins of the past away
We’re gonna havta answer
Sooner or later some day

How can we just pretend
That none of this ever existed
We need to make amends
For those crimes already listed

We can’t simply wish
The sins of the past away
We’re gonna havta answer
Sooner or later some day

Few want to be confronted
With this kind of ugly truth
But history has recorded
All of the needed proof
So the time for reparations
Long has been past due
And if we were to be honest
We’d own up to it too

We can’t simply wish
The sins of the past away
We’re gonna havta answer
Sooner or later some day

How can we just pretend
That none of this ever existed
We need to make amends
For those crimes already listed

We can’t simply wish
The sins of the past away
We’re gonna havta answer
Sooner or later some day

(Outro)
We’re gonna have to answer
For our nation’s past misdeeds
So calls for reparations
To address present needs
Shouldn’t just be dismissed
Totally out of hand
Clearly there’s a debt owed
Is that so hard to understand

One day we went
Through a door
Called No Return
To come back no more
We were headed
For a far off distant shore
To be bought and sold
And what’s more

Those not lost in
The deep blue sea
Were robbed of their language
And identity
Much much worst
Is we were not free
From the chains of *******
And we had no key

You controlled me
By the fear of death
Robbed me of my dignity
‘Til there was nothing left
Separated me from my family
And though you’d never guess
Despite all of this
I still am blessed

You may not have done it
But the fact remains
You benefited anyway
From the whips and chains
That your forebears used
Which perhaps explains
Why you were advanced
By your undue gains

Slaves didn’t share in the American dream
They were living in a nightmare
And if they dreamed at all
It was how to get away from here
See they weren’t immigrants
Like the ones who came through Ellis Island
And those who don’t know the history
Should simply just be silent

You can’t conflate what slaves went through
With those who followed the dream
Of seeking a better life over here
All of us weren’t on the same team
Some came of their own free will
Others were brought here in chains
Some enjoy the full benefits still
And the fact of the matter remains

Slaves didn’t share in the American dream
They were living in a nightmare
And to try to imply that they did
In a word is insincere
It’s been said that ignorance is bliss
And the words of the ignorant
Provides more grist
for the proverbial mill of bad intent

You can’t conflate what slaves went through
With those who followed their dream
When the remnants and legacy of slavery
Are still here it would seem
Actually there’s no comparison between the two
Yet there are those in high position
Who haven’t got the slightest clue
Are guilty of the sin of omission

Cuz he was slow to respond
Lives are now gone
Yet it hasn’t dawned
That the lies he’s spawned
Are far beyond
Our need to correspond
He has no magic wand
To cement our bond

He’s learned to despise
Those who expose his lies
Which he’s tried to disguise
In ways unwise
A disparaging word
To him is absurd
Cuz haven’t we heard
He’s done all that’s preferred

Here’s the funny thing
He assumes he’s a king
Like the New Jack Swing
It has a certain ring
And as long as they praise
His misbegotten ways
He likes how it plays
In these Coronavirus days

In sweeping displays
His press forays
Go on for days and days
And he’s quick to heap praise
On the things that he’s done
But please name me one
That we can detect
Are not suspect

As I often surmise
I don’t think it is wise
For me to criticize
What I know applies
Israel too has her faults
But we do somersaults
Or apply the schmaltz
Instead of smelling salts

They go through the roof
When we state the truth
Then back it with the proof
A martini needs vermouth!
Should we become myopic,
When Israel is the topic?
Or just be philanthropic?
They really need to stop it

A woman nevertheless
Elected to Congress
Is embroiled in a mess
Cuz she chose to attest
About the Benjamins
As in Franklin friends
Helps Israel reach her ends
See everybody bends

And what’s really pathetic
Is she’s labeled anti-Semitic
But that’s the usual rhetoric
From Zionist confederates
Who can see no wrong
If we just go along
Like Palestinians don’t belong
Long as Israel remains strong

Don’t drink the elixir
That he’s trying to sell
If you start believing him
He'll catch you in his spell
Avoid the snake oil salesman
At all and any cost
If you follow his advice
You’ll truly be lost

He’s a snake oil salesman
Traveling state to state
Trying to sell his portion
That you're gonna learn to hate

(2nd Verse)
Don’t drink his elixir
Though pleasant to the taste
Some have bought it wholesale
Others by the case
Don’t believe the claims
The snake oil salesman makes
He’ll say or do anything
That he thinks it takes

He’s a snake oil salesman
Traveling state to state
Trying to sell his portion
That you're gonna learn to hate
He’ll never reveal what’s inside
Of his opaque bottle
But he wants you to take the ride
While he goes full throttle

He’s a snake oil salesman
You better heed my warning
It might be too late
Once you’re underneath his awning
He’s a snake oil salesman
I’ve told you once before
Cuz it’s at your own peril
If you choose to ignore

He’s a snake oil salesman
Traveling state to state
Trying to sell his portion
That you'll learn to hate

Don’t drink his elixir
Though pleasant to the taste
Some have bought it wholesale
Others by the case
Don’t believe the claims
The snake oil salesman makes
He’ll say or do anything
That he thinks it takes

They promises us
A chicken in every ***
By telling us things
That are not
Worth a bucket
Of warm snot
I’m sick of them
The whole lot

Simply put
Snake oil salesmen
Will say anything
Just to win
But they’re short
On the deliverable end
Despite the messages
That they send

Promise us anything
But give us Arpege
They embrace issues
That have a wedge
Sometimes their bets
They try to hedge
Before they take us
Over the ledge

Snake oil salesmen
What can I say?
Sell the same ****
Day after day
And they won’t let reality
Get in their way
While we’re being led
Should I say astray?

Snitches get stitches
So nobody drops a dime
Meanwhile we're the biggest victims
Of inner city crime
It's happenin' everyday
Without reason or rhyme
Don't cha think it's high time
We change that paradigm

Snitches get stitches
That's the code of the street
But you'll be given up
Once the cops apply the heat
That Mafia example
In real life ain't complete
Cos they're the biggest snitches
That you'll ever meet

Snitches get stitches
And they probably should
If both of ‘em were down
Then it's understood
But if you see sumthin'
Happenin' in the hood
Then you need to say sumthin
Cos I know I would

Snitches get stitches
That's the code of the street
But you'll be given up
Once the cops apply the heat
That Mafia example
In real life ain't complete
Cos they're the biggest snitches
That you'll ever meet

Our mutual destruction
Is clearly assured
If the challenges we're facing
Continually get ignored
Our future salvation
Demands we're of one accord
So let's pray for the strength
As we look towards the Lord

Snitches get stitches
But ya wanna know the truth
It's high time the rest of us
Better stop being aloof
We're dying every day
The statistics are the proof
So let's raise the white flag
And declare a truce

Snitches get stitches
That's the code of the street
But you'll be given up
Once the cops apply the heat
That Mafia example
In real life ain't complete
Cos they're the biggest snitches
That you'll ever meet

So you wish that you were
Hunter Biden
Instead of Trump, Junior
Thanks for confiding
From the back seat of the limousine
In which you’re riding
So you’re doing okay
From what daddy’s providing

If Hunter’s making money
Off his father’s name
Then you too are guilty
Of doing the same
If you’re looking for sympathy
Stop placing blame
Because by comparison
What he’s doing is tame

You’re making money
Hand over fist
Yet we can’t expect you
To cop to this
If we didn’t point this out
We’d be remiss
Although to the contrary
You continue to insist

We know you can say
Whatever you choose
From inside the safety
Of Fox-TV News
But relating the truth
Is what you refuse
So what is your strategy
In crying the blues?

So it didn’t,
Go your way
You got sacked
But that’s okay
Better luck
Another day
It’s part of
The game you play

Unfortunately
You didn’t get
A victory
Because it wasn’t
Meant to be
Fate interdicted
Don’t you see

Although you were
The odds on favorite
It’s too bad
You never made it
We lost the bet
And then we paid it
You did your best
But you got faded

Even though
They done you bad
Ain’t no sense
In getting mad
A better defense
Those guys had
It’s no wonder
Why they’re glad

Some hope for the best
But wind up with much less
Cos often they regress
Making it no contest
And others might assume
It ‘s all gloom and doom
Which doesn’t leave much room
For the optimist to bloom

Some sound the retreat
Because they can’t compete
And consider themselves beat
Before they meet defeat
Whether wrong or right
Others will mount a fight
In the hope that they might
See victory in sight

Some lack the sheer will
To stand their ground until
They complete the drill
For them it’s all uphill
Others embrace a task
Whenever they’re asked
In challenges they bask
Cos it’s within their grasp

Some will acquiesces
Before trying their best
As you’ve probably guessed
They want to convalesce
Others wear their battle gear
With the strength to persevere
They think victory’s near
And they put aside their fear

Somebody call a cop
The madness has to stop
How many have to drop
Before we close the shop
Do we refuse to see
The blatant cruelty
That those longing to be
Simply put, just free

Just like I said before
Somebody call the law
We cannot ignore
The horror or the gore
Of the Administration’s
Various gyrations
Before other nations
Must we keep having patience?

Despite this nation’s might
We don’t have the right
To punish or indict
So why should he take flight?
See, he’s never been contrite
He’d much prefer to fight
Than to change their plight
Either day or night

Guess we’ll have to wait
For time to seal his fate
At some future date
It’s gonna be checkmate
Meanwhile we’ll contend
‘Til its brought to an end
Or we apprehend
A man who will not bend

Somebody call a cop
Make Tom Cruise and them stop
I think they’re over the top
We need to close their shop
You see I’ve figured out
They’re just another cult
Who have Hollywood clout
By going the science route

Somebody call the police
At the very least
Their madness needs to cease
And their numbers decreased
Perhaps you find it odd
That I view them a fraud
Both here and also abroad
They need to be outlawed

Somebody call a gendarme
There’s reason for alarm
They have seductive charm
For those fresh off a farm
I see the telltale signs
I’ve peep behind their blinds
And seen their Machiavellian designs
They’re trying to capture minds

Somebody call the Bullen
And that’s my final ruling
Who they think they foolin’
The ignorant need schoolin’
For those who go for hocus pocus
And  tend to lose their focus
Easily become the locus
Which they can use to yoke us

Offensive to some
Others I leave numb
That doesn’t make me dumb
Nor am I a ***
I have to keep it real
And write down
What I feel
So now you know the deal

To some I’m erudite
And they might be right
So don’t take me light
Just because I’m bright
Be that as it may
I hear the things you say
But I’m taking note anyway
I hope that is okay

Some may disagree
And that’s alright with me
No need to fight you see
One’s taste is always key
You may hate the most
That I can be verbose
Before you start to roast
Let’s just drink a toast

Do you love my art
Because it’s an integral part
Of who I am at heart
That’s one place we can start
If you want to understand
The nature of this man
But only if you can
Eventually become a fan

Someone call the marshal
McConnell’s never been impartial
I shouldn’t have to share it
But I remember Garland Meritt
And the awful words he said
That will never leave my head
About making our first black president
A one-time White House resident

He took that supremist position
And in fact, made it his mission
So I shouldn’t be surprised
That the oaths he takes are lies
He believes he’s judge and jury
Which only invokes my fury
Trump’s impeachment is a scam
Because McConnell doesn’t give a ****

But he’s mistaken in my view
Because the American people do
Whether or not he gives a care
We believe the trial should be fair
So let each side produce their witnesses
Let the Senate jury make their synthesis
Though it’s a foregone conclusion
That there’ll be some collusion

We need to do radical surgery
If the Senate commits mass perjury
And that’s what they’re planning to do
Give us all the *****
They must think they’re invincible
For placing party over principle
Marching lock-step with a President
Who only lives to circumvent

Don’t make a negative decision
On someone else’s religion
Based on what you might find
Inside the blogs posted online
And then be quick to criticize
Based on half-truths and lies
Without first taking a look
At that religion’s Holy Book

I’m somewhat confused
By what I’m hearing in the news
Muslims should be disqualified
Or have their access denied
From the office of president
And I know he said what he meant
But why are we listenin’ to him
When he doesn’t even know a Muslim

Holding the Constitution over religion
Suggests that we have the final decision
But don’t we say that it’s in God we trust
So what does that say about him or us
If there’s no place for God at the table
And the lack of faith is what makes us able
To discern what’s wrong from right
Whether to make peace or continue to fight

If we believe in separation of church and state
How did we enter into this debate
When it doesn’t matter what we believe
And that is the point that they misconceive
While pretending to be holier than thou
And determining who to forbid or allow
Into the highest office of the land
While the seeds of discord they continue to fan

That Lindsey’s gay
But that’s okay
He’s always been that way
What bothers us is
Senator Graham is a certified ham
Who in the final analysis
Doesn’t give a ****

We’re annoyed
Cuz we’re unemployed
Thus null and void
And While he’s enjoyed
All the benefits
Of where he sits
He won’t bail us out
He admits

He rides private jets
And he also gets
Many other assets
With no regrets
While we’re left in the dust
Cuz he’s forgotten us
He’s out playing golf
While we go bust

He’s the president’s shill
Says the rumor mill
Quite a bitter pill
But even still
While the covert spreads
They don’t use their heads
Nor does he criticize
The death rate rise

As the limits of democracy
Are reached
The president’s about to be
Impeached
There’s a lesson that it’s
Meant to teach
That this for that was
Right there in his speech

Some prefer to call it
Quid-pro-quo
A Latin phrase in case
You didn’t know
But that language is dead
From long ago
That those who use it now
Do it for show

So let’s not get the facts here
Confused
Presidential power was
Abused
And that’s not classified
As new news
When he’s the one, as we know
Who lit the fuse

How it all will turn out
I don’t know
I guess we’ll have to see
And that’s for sure
As the process goes on
Guess we’ll know
Whether the president’s
Forced to eat crow
