Some prefer to make
Excuses
For his verbal and physical
Abuses
Against the people he
Reduces
To those he thinks of as totally
Useless

Some prefer to look the
Other way
Whether black or white or
Even grey
While letting him have
His say
Because tomorrow is
Another day

Some prefer to be his
Sycophants
And in so doing perform
A dance
That’s as delicate as
A legion of ants
Once inside of somebody’s
Pants

Some prefer to pretend
Not to see
What is plain as day to you
And me
They just want to claim
Deniability
So they can act as if they’re
Blame free

Some question the police
They should be asked at least
As rioters disturbed the peace
Why they watched the violence increase
As incredible as it might sound
They may have been told to stand down
Given conditions on the ground
That would be nothing short of profound

The police used great restraint
But the picture that it might paint
Is it’s clearly what it ain’t
A show of force under constraint
So where do we begin
And how does the mayor fit in
Will someone say who can
To help us understand

Was it just a slippery *****
Or were their hands tied by a rope
Do we need a microscope
And will the answer restore hope
Those who watched couldn’t miss it
Were the police complicit
Cos the riot was illicit
They did nothing to resist it

I’m far from a detective
It's a matter of perspective
Were the police under directive
As some of us suspected
And if so who ordered them
From whence did the order stem
Whether it was her or him
They should preserve life and limb

Some Question The Police is one more in the series of poems inspired by events in Baltimore in the wake of the Freddie Gray funeral.

By: Cedric McClester,

Lately I wonder
If you still care
I come home from work
And you’re not there
My breakfast and dinner
You used to prepare
Now you make excuses
And I’m quite aware

Something has changed
When did it begin
See I get the message
You’re starting to send
We’re in the middle
But it feels like the end
So stop the charade
You don’t have to pretend

Where are you spending
Most of your time
Cuz it’s not with me
And that’s just a crime
It’s not like I can’t see
You know I’m not blind
And I’m starting to think
That you’re no longer mine

Something has changed
When did it begin
See I get the message
You’re starting to send
We’re in the middle
But it feels like the end
So stop the charade
You don’t have to pretend

Was it something I did
Or something I said
That made you start looking
That far ahead
All of your signals
Were easily read
Seems you’re telling me
That our love is dead

It’s clear as day
That I care for you
In spite of the things
That you’ve chosen to do
Everything I’m saying
You already knew
No need acting like
It comes out of the blue

Something has changed
When did it begin
See I get the message
You’re starting to send
We’re in the middle
But it feels like the end
So stop the charade
You don’t have to pretend

Where are you spending
Most of your time
Cuz it’s not with me
And that’s just a crime
It’s not like I can’t see
You know I’m not blind
And I’m starting to think

I could make love to you
All night long
And then
Start all over again
At the break of dawn
Every fantasy
That you wished could be
We can make come true
Once we fire the desire
Between me and you

Slip into something more revealing
Your **** body's so appealing
I'm ready for some mutual healing
That can be found in what we're feeling

I could engage in foreplay
For hours on end
And then cool you down
Right at the point when
You're about to implode
From the overload
But once I'm up in it
There won't be no limit

Slip into something more revealing
Your **** body's so appealing
I'm ready for some mutual healing
That can be found in what we're feeling

If you're down for fun
We can engage in some one on one
Whatever you want under the sun
I'm more than ready to get the job done

Slip into something more revealing
Your **** body's so appealing
I'm ready for some mutual healing
That can be found in what we're feeling

I'm not after
Bragging rights
But I have first dibs
On those kinds of nights
Nights that were made
For making love
Cause we fit each other
Like hand and glove

If you're down for fun
We can engage in some one on one
Whatever you want under the sun
I'm more than ready to get the job done

Slip into something more revealing
Your **** body's so appealing
I'm ready for some mutual healing
That can be found in what we're feeling

I could make love to you
All night long
And then
Start all over again
At the break of dawn
Every fantasy
That you wished could be
We can make come true
Once we fire the desire
Between me and you

Somewhere, I heard or read,
That you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead
Now that, that has been said,
And al-Baghdadi is a trophy head
Before he set off the suicide blast
There’s something I just have to ask
Did he actually whimper and cry
At the thought he was going to die?

But, that said, in any case
The world’s a much better place
Just to put the matter to bed,
With the erstwhile Kalifah dead
The President has bragging rights
For putting out that leader’s lights
But the backlash his words will insite
Will only cause ISIS tp ignite

And much to our collective regret,
The thing we must never forget
Or, would be ill advised to ignore
That we have killed others before
Their names wouldn’t fit a marquee
And while that well may be
Their movements have endured
Because they’re of one accord

They still want to take down the West
By now, in case you haven’t guessed
So this is the logical deduction
They’re committed to our destruction
I hope that you’re following me
They have a warped ideology
That has nothing to do with Islam
Those who claim so are doomed to be ******

Some will sell you out
For a dollar
Some will sell you out
For free
Some will sell you out
For the hell of it
Cuz they hate themselves
Ya see

She said we don’t need
A month for Black History
And we don’t need channels
Like BET
Simply American
Is what we should be
Wish that were the way
That they treated me

Some will sell you out
For a dollar
Some will sell you out
For free
Some will sell you out
For the hell of it
Cuz they hate themselves
Ya see

There shouldn’t be
An N double A CP Image Awards
Because according to her
That only affords
Black people honors
While whites get ignored
Which isn’t the case
She can rest well assured

I’d like to believe
My country is for me
What the song says it is
Sweet land of liberty
But it hasn’t been
Far as I can see
Everything that
It's been cracked up to be

We’re all just Americans
I wish that were true
What about proud Italians
And the Irish too
Who have days of pride
That  she says we should eschew
Which clearly illustrates
She doesn’t have a clue

Some will sell you out
For a dollar
Some will sell you out
For free
Some will sell you out
For the hell of it
Cuz they hate themselves
Ya see

So the AHCA
Went down in flames
And to protect the guilty
We won’t mention names
Ya see they were up to
Their usual games
Protecting the rich
Like their opposition claims

They say They did
All that they could
To pass a bill
That people understood
Would cost their lives
So let’s knock on wood
Cos’ it didn’t get passed
Though they thought it should

They had seven years
To craft a bill
But it appears they couldn’t
Even still
And if the truth be told
I doubt they ever will
On the backs of the poor
Who their bill would ****

To the AHCA
I say rest in peace
We like Obamacare
To say the least
Now on our dead carcasses
You won’t get to feast
Or **** you know where
Without using grease

Crooked politicians
Are headed to Federal jail
But while awaiting sentencing
They’re still out on bail
Increasingly - if you ask me
They’re an old cliché
Judging by the numbers
Of ‘em being sent away

Try to name the politician
Who hasn’t been to jail
I betcha you can’t do it
Attempt to and you’ll fail

The President’s a failure
But he brought us back
From a big depression
That’s simply a fact
Gave us the kind of healthcare
That we used to lack
But he did nothing
Let y’all tell it
Could it be because he’s black?

Congress ain’t the answer
They’re recalcitrant and so
The one thing they seem good at
Is telling the country no

Lead pollutes the water
Let me give you a hint
Not just inside Michigan
It’s not limited to Flint
As for our infrastructure
They won’t spend one red cent
It’s crumbling all around us
But still they won’t relent

Infrastructure jobs
Could bring back the middle class
But they’re only concerned with one percent
The rest can kiss their ***

So where is this all headed
I swear I don’t know
To hell in a hand basket
Is probably where it’ll go
It should be quite obvious
Without me saying so
Believe you me - the powers that be
Will soon be eating crow

But they don’t have no shame
As we’ve come to learn
They just fiddle on
As the country continues to burns

Crooked politicians
Are headed to Federal jail
But while awaiting sentencing
They’re still out on bail
The President’s a failure
But he brought us back
From a big depression
That’s simply a fact

So where is this all headed
I swear I don’t know
To hell in a hand basket
Is probably where it’ll go

So you don’t wanna
Be mandated?
Would you prefer to
Be cremated
Or buried in the
Traditional way
Six feet underground
Let’s say?

You’re sitting there
Without a clue
But you don’t want ‘em
To Fauci you
That’s too dangerous
In your view
So absolutely nothing
You choose to do

Millions have been
Vaccinated
But you’re among those
Who waited
I just hope that
You’re not il-fated
Because you chose
To debate it

Covid is spreading
Real fast
Better hope that it don’t
Catch your ***
We don’t wanna be
At your funeral mass
Or to speak of you
In the recent past

So you say,
You’re born again
But do you know
The moment when?
Your old life
Came to an end
And you became
Free of sin

You took more
Than you gave
Your past life
Made you a slave
‘Til you discovered
How Jesus saves
And you made amends
For mistakes you made

You’re changed now
So you profess
And if I had to
Venture a guess
You’re no longer
The hot mess
That you once were
Nevertheless

I understand
Your need to share
You want others
To become aware
That your salvation
Is sincere
And if they want to
They can go there

When I look at you
There ain’t no doubt
Can I give you a clue
I get spaced out
And take off
In the stratosphere
Whenever you’re near
Somehow I find myself walking on thin air

I'm in another galaxy
Light years away
Am I turned up
Guess it’s fair to say
That I’m spaced out too
Although it’s okay
You do that to me
Every night and day

Maybe you’re my launching pad
Or my rocket ship
Lifting me right off the ground
But I go well equipped
And I can’t wait to get there
Where I’m being sent
To some distant planet
Yet I arrive content

And I can’t help but think
You share my sentiment
So don’t ever ask yourself
What it’s all about
Let me put it simply
I just get spaced out
Baby you transport me
Beyond any doubt

Speaker McCarthy? please
He has hoof and mouth disease
Because he ate the cheese
On those Bengazi Committees
As he went on to explain
It was all for political gain
To cause Hillary pain
And show her his distain

Now let me remind
The Speaker is third in line
For the presidency you’ll find
The Republicans must be blind
To think McCarthy a horse’s ***
Could ever be up to that task
In ignorance they bask
Could someone pass the flask

Granted he’s one of the boys
But that’s what most annoys
Given the syntax he employs
To the language he destroys
But if they think he’s okay
Then who am I to say
They should find a better way
And keep him at bay

It’s not hard to figure
Why the Republicans
Don ‘t get any bigger
They lack resolve and rigor
And the speaker that they pick
Will show us just how sick
That they can be real quick
Because they are that thick

It is almost certain that the Republican majority will elect Kevin McCarthy as their next speaker.  He needs a remedial English course before taking that position.  He calls Hungry, Hungria.

Stronger tomorrow
Than we are today
We want an answer
So why don’t we pray?
Cuz there has to be
A much brighter day
And I do believe
That it’s on the way

Stronger tomorrow
When we persevere
We can get past
Whatever we fear
Though we can’t pretend
That it isn’t here
There’s a Higher Power
I know somewhere

Stronger tomorrow
Than we are today
Would if we could
Simply wish it away
Though it might be the price
That we have to pay
For our past transgressions
From yesterday

Stronger tomorrow
Than we are today
We want an answer
So why don’t we pray?
Cuz there has to be
A much brighter day
And I do believe
That it’s on the way

There is no
Stare decisis
Unfortunately that’s how
It slices
The Supreme Court
Is in a crisis
Because they’ve
Rolled the dices

The precedents
That have been set
Are too easy
For them to forget
And don’t seem
To be binding yet
Much to our regret
We have a right to be upset

The Supreme Court
Has become
A political wing
Of an ugly
Conservative thing
Along with
The damage
It can bring

Within the realm
Of settled law
Nothing will
Stand up anymore
The way it
Once did before
And that we can
Bet on for sure

A love affair
That had gone bad
Drove the man
Stark raving mad
So he went hunting
And in tandem
Killed a man
He found by random

So I don’t know
Where to begin
Other than to hope
He turns himself in
So justice can
Determine where or when
Or whether his life
Should be brought to an end

The man he killed
And then uploaded
Onto Facebook
Never goaded
Him into taking
His precious life
Away from his children
And his wife

Mercy me
What’s the world coming to
When we see
Someone out the blue
Blown away
Before he even knew
Because somebody else
Had a missing *****

This madness
Has to cease
Stop blaming it
On the Chinese
Or others from
The Far East
It’s pandemic
To say the least

In other words
It’s world-wkde
Though it came from China
I’ll confide
And thousands of ‘em
Now have died
Despite the medicines
They have tried

So it has come
Down to this
The whole world
Is at risk
So as you frown
And ball your fist
If you like
I’ll run the list

Let's not strike
Sisters and brothers
Especially those
You view as others
Cuz you would not
Given your druthers
Don't we all come,
From our mothers?

Stop saying,
“That’s not who we are.”
When we’re the engine
Driving this car
Which has strayed
So very far
From who we like
To say we are

Stop saying,
“We’re much better than that.”
Not from the seat
Where Nancy Pelosi sat
Or from the place congress
Was forced to ****
Out of the room
Where they were at

Stop saying,
“Make America great again.”
Until we’re a nation of laws
Not of men
Cuz how else are we
Gonna win?
And there’s no time like the present
To begin

Stop saying,
“We’re the world’s
Greatest democracy.”
The way
We used to be
When in fact
We’re barely free
From his demagoguery

Stop the circus
Send the clowns home
Biden won the presidency
As they’ve always known
But you couldn’t tell it
By the behavior they’ve shown
Or by the number of lawsuits
That the Trump team has blown

Stop the circus
And the high wire act
Trump lost the election
And that’s just a fact
Although he wants
The presidency back
It’s not gonna happen
Now that he’s been sacked

Stop the circus tigers
From jumping through hoops
Trump lost the election
And that’s a big oops
Despite him having
All those supportive groups
It’s long past the  time
To send in the troops

Stop the circus elephants
From standing on
Each other’s backs
And banding together
Ignoring the facts
It doesn’t matter how
Profusely they wax
It's long past the time
That he got the axe

I know what it is we saw
On the streets of Baltimore
Everything we should abhor
Burning, looting and much more
As our history has shown
Once contentious seed are sown
Violence that we can’t condone
Begins when the first stone is thrown

Once we loose the savage beast
And opportunists start to fleece
Their local businesses decrease
And there’s no justice or no peace
Deprivation is the aftermath
Once people choose a violent path
For some it’s fun and so they laugh
But they don’t know much about math

Whole communities disappear
As rioters stand around and cheer
Once the smoke has a chance to clear
We find it’s worst than we had feared
What began as an  expression of pain
Rapidly denigrated before it changed
Which often happens when police are estranged
From communities they police when there’s no exchange

Violence never is the answer
Cos it can metastasize like a cancer
It never was an agenda advancer
Nor a valid argument enhancer
So let’s not try to pretend
That there can be any other end
Nor a position that we can defend
Can I surmise we comprehend?

They’re the party of wealth
Unconcerned with the health
Of the economy
Relative to you and me
The situation’s getting frantic
Still they’re up to their old antics
Of symbolism ‘n semantics
Symbolism ‘n semantics

The problem is gigantic
In fact it’s transatlantic
His approach is sycophantic
But they are quite pedantic
Is he being too romantic
As they come with their semantics
Their symbolism ‘n semantics
Symbolism ‘n semantics

They’ve tried to pass a bill
Over there up on the hill
But despite the public will
They keep arguing it still
They’re complaining ‘bout the pork
But haven’t put down their fork
So we’ll have to wait
But the hour’s getting late

The problem is gigantic
In fact it’s transatlantic
His approach is sycophantic
But they are quite pedantic
Is he being too romantic
As they come with their semantics
Their symbolism ‘n semantics
Symbolism ‘n semantics

It seems they have a crush
On a pill popper named Rush
Who someone should tell hush
And stop talking so **** much
By hoping that he fails
While we lay on the rails
He’s blowin wind up their sails
So how did he avoid our jails

The problem is gigantic
In fact it’s transatlantic
His approach is sycophantic
But they are quite pedantic
Is he being too romantic
As they come with their semantics
Their symbolism ‘n semantics
Symbolism ‘n semantics

They voted millions down the drain
In a war that was insane
But now hear them complain
Instead of trying to ease our pain
Their politics remains the same
But we made our selection
Where were they the last election
Cos it changed the whole complexion
With a call for redirection

The problem is gigantic
In fact it’s transatlantic
His approach is sycophantic
But they are quite pedantic
Is he being too romantic
As they come with their semantics
Their symbolism ‘n semantics
Symbolism ‘n semantics

Systemic racism
Doesn’t exist
Senator Lindsey Graham
Would probably insist
But that doesn’t mean
That he’s not remiss
See this is why they say
Ignorance is bliss

Systemic racism deniers
Point to the gains
That some blacks have made
Which has loosen their chains
But that notwithstanding
The fact still remains
Systemic racism exits
Despite their refrains

Systemic racism
Is a salient fact
Look at the rights
They wanna take back
Like the right to vote
Which is anti-black
In spite of us having
A Voting Rights Act

Systemic racism
Is insidious
And it is worthy
Of our mutual disgust
See it not only harms
Just some of us
Though it’s mostly blacks
Who put up a fiuss

You have to wonder
What does it take
For them not to repeat
Someone else’s mistake
When there’s no one to tell ‘em
To apply the brake
They proceed full speed
Then crash in the lake

Unfortunately
You can never be sure
Whether you’re talking to shadows
Or them anymore
‘Cos they tend to repeat
Lessons from before
While riding the wave
There’s a lot they ignore

You’re talking to shadows
There’s no substance there
And you have to wonder
Why do you care
But you have something
A message to share
Go ahead and enjoy it
But also be ware

Unfortunately
You can never be sure
Whether you’re talking to shadows
Or them anymore
‘Cos they tend to repeat
Lessons from before
While riding the wave
There’s a lot they ignore

You’re talking to shadows
Who don’t have a clue
Of the road ahead
Though you wish they knew
What to avoid
Or what to review
So they don’t wind up
The same as you

I’m talking in earnest
Is your future bright
If you haven’t learned
To read on sight
Handwriting on the wall
As you’re taking flight
So as not to walk gently
Into that good night

Unfortunately
You can never be sure
Whether you’re talking to shadows
Or them anymore
‘Cos they tend to repeat
Lessons from before
While riding the wave
There’s a lot they ignore

You’re talking to shadows
There’s no substance there
And you have to wonder
Why do you care
But you have something
A message to share
Go ahead and enjoy it
But also be aware

So Black Lives Matter
Is more than idle chatter
As we learned in Chicago
Just the other day
Where an unarmed black youth
Was callously blown away
And if we didn’t have a tape
It couldn’t be placed on display

A seventeen year old
In the street lifeless and cold
Who was shot in the back
By a cop as he ran away
Now that’s just a sad fact
No matter what they have to say
And If the event wasn’t taped
The cop would be okay

Demonstrating in the street
Although some may object
Followed by a well placed tweet
Gets the movement it’s respect
And we’ve seen other instances
Where this has applied
Because a camera witnesses
What an officer denied

And when we look to Cleveland
Where young Tamir Rice
Was shot down like a dog
Which wasn’t very nice
In a mere matter of seconds
He was lying in the ice
And the cop that shot him
Didn’t think about it twice

O’Reilly has gumption
To arrive at the assumption
That blacks who applied
For jobs would be denied
He says they’re not qualified
Adding insult to injury
He said you’d be horrified to see
Tattoos on their heads

Viewers have to face this
He’s a dyed in the wool racist
Who because of this collusion
Comes to a false conclusion
Which promotes the illusion
That black men are less than
Other kinds of men
Who have tattoos on their heads

His hostility
Is plain enough to see
It’s right there in the open
Just in case you were hoping
The opposite were true
All you have to do is view
Or hear a rancid interview
About tattoos on their heads

Listen carefully you’ll detect
An inferiority complex
That although he masks it well
A trained eye can clearly tell
Why it is he give ‘em hell
So to him it might appear
That the black men he’s learned to fear
Have tattoos on his head

When low income earners
Get smaller tax breaks
Than high income earners
For heaven’s sake
It’s time the opposition
Puts on the brakes
Or does something drastic
Whatever it takes

When they’re offering us
A big Christmas gift
That will improve the economy
There is a big if
The Senate agrees
And avoids the usual tiff
Or like the House
Can pass it real swift

When they claim to be
Doing something for the poor
You can make a bet
The rich will get more
There is no doubt about it
Cos I know this for sure
They’ll do the same thing
That they’ve done before

When they tell you that
It will trickle down
Just check their math
Because it’s not sound
They’ll keep what they gain
Is what I’ve often found
And rarely will you find
That it comes around

These are tears from the ages
As we turn our history’s pages
Certain parts have been outrageous
Like when they enslaved and caged us
Now they ask why all the fuss
Though the confederacy went bust
As we always knew it must
They say that flag just honors us

But where’s the honor in enslavement
In human suffering and containment
Why not ask us where the pain went
Which might explain our discontent
Even though some will insist
That their supporters must resist
Because that flag will sure be missed
See I don’t think they get our gist

That flag serves to summarize
An era that we do despise
So if the Golden Rule applies
Take it down, word to the wise
Tell me if you could celebrate
Another’s hegemony or hate
While your freedom had to wait
Is it even open to debate

Want to romanticize your past?
I find it necessary to ask
Like the Germans and their gas
I will put you on full blast
Because there is no master race
Everybody has their place
And I hope I’ve made my case
That the past can’t be erased

The poor get poorer everyday
And corporations have their way
Congress seems to have no sway
While lobbyist hold them at bay
We are tired of bein’ clowned
And told that wealth trickles down
That rationale's proven unsound
Because it never reaches ground

Things have gotten too far gone
Our lives have been reduced to ****
And most of y’all ain’t even torn
Tell me what the hell is goin’ on

The Constitution’s been destroyed
Our troops are always redeployed
We now do what we should avoid
Cos terror’s has us paranoid
And here’s the thing I always feared
Once your name has been smeared
There's no chance of it being cleared
And you can literally be disappeared

Things have gotten too far gone
Our lives have been reduced to ****
And most of y’all ain’t even torn
Tell me what the hell is goin’ on

One percent have all the loot
While ninety-nine shines their boots
And Congress appears in cahoots
With history majors like the Newts

Things have gotten too far gone
Our lives have been reduced to ****
And most of y’all ain’t even torn
Tell me what the hell is goin’ on

Job creators? Where they at?
I just see ‘em getting’ fat
It’s high time they come to bat
And lay those jobs out on the mat
But fat chance that just won’t happen
Long as most of us are nappin’
Pretty soon we’ll all be strapping
And our guns will soon be clappin’

Things have gotten too far gone
Our lives have been reduced to ****
And most of y’all ain’t even torn
Tell me what the hell is goin’ on

The poor get poorer everyday
And corporations have their way
Congress seems to have no sway
While lobbyist hold them at bay
We are tired of bein’ clowned
And told that wealth trickles down
That rationale’s proven unsound
Because it never reaches ground

Even though we know
You’re a zero
Tell us how do you
Spell hero
If not what James Shaw did
In that Waffle place
Why don’t you
Make better case

He wrestled a gun
From the hand
Of an active shooter
Don’t cha understand?
Or did you calculate
That he’s black
Don’t let that
Color how you react

Your Twitter feed
Has been silent
When it comes to Shaw
Who stopped the violence
You can’t find
A thing to say
Because your bias
Gets in the way

So when it comes
To a true American hero
You just fiddle
Like a modern day Nero
And let his heroism
Pass you by
Though it’s a salient fact
You can’t deny

Terror claimed in Islam's name
Is at best misguided
Because terrorist abandon Islamic understanding
When they make that claim
Despite the Middle East, Islam stands for peace
Suicide and ******'s not condoned
Though some choose to use it
And in so doing abuse it
Thus inventing a religion of their own
Chances are none to slim that a true Muslim
Could ever think the terror is allowed
When there is ample proof of the Qu'ranic truth
What is haram can never be halal

Depending upon
What the case is
Terror has many faces
In the Middle East
And  other disparate places
No matter who
A drone chases
Or the people it erases

Another mother moans
As she retrieves
The flesh and bones
Of dead loved ones
Killed by drones
Now she must choose
Their headstones
For a policy no one condones

Families wiped out
By the dozens
Mothers fathers
Sisters brothers
Cos we view them
As those others
A will to ****
Is our druthers

Another mother moans
As she retrieves
The flesh and bones
Of dead loved ones
Killed by drones
Now she must choose
Their headstones
For a policy no one condones

From the sky
They watch ‘em fall
So who is it that
Makes that call
Do we want to
**** them all
Or simply bring ‘em
To a crawl

I know we have to
Hit ‘em hard
But who on earth
Declared us God
Even thinking that
Is flawed
Don't believe me
Ask the Lord

Another mother moans
As she retrieves
The flesh and bones
Of dead loved ones
Killed by drones
Now she must choose
Their headstones
For a policy no one condones

Depending upon
What the case is
Terror has many faces

Concerned about letting
Those terrorists in?
They’re already here
Where they’ve always been
It wasn’t ISIS in Sandy Hook
Who killed all those children
And had us all shook
Nor was it al-Qaeda
Just for the record book

Concerned about having
Those terrorist here?
I think it’s too late
It would appear
From Kenneth McVeigh
And the list does go on
Terror’s been happening
Right here all along

Concerned about us having
A terrorist attack
We already have
As a matter of fact
We’ve seen it in Chicago
But we don’t react
And in Baltimore
We haven’t done jack

Concerned about terrorism?
Why don’t you define
Exactly what it is
That you have in mind
You want to bare weapons
Because it’s your right
Which hasn’t done nothing
To lessen our plight

Stop hating on the President
Who said exactly what he meant
It seems the haters won’t relent
Until he’s bowed or bent
But terror under any name
Is terror just the same
What’s the point in trying to defame
Another’s religion,  one you don’t claim

Aren’t you tired of their antics
Accusing him of mere pedantics
Listen to them they sound frantic
Because they’re engaged in pure semantics
Once you know it’s a misnomer
To make Islam terror’s sarcoma
The tactic stinks smell the aroma
It’s time we waken from our coma

Let me proceed by being lenient
Blaming Islam may be convenient
For politicians who often mean it
They don’t even attempt to clean it
But Islam is the antithesis
Of terror where there’s a dissonance
Though some might claim it’s the impetus
I disagree with that synthesis

Terror carried out in Islam’s name
Is not Islam as might be claimed
So there’s no need for us to defame
A world religion that is getting framed
For the actions of a select few
When others have done what these miscreants do
But their religion was no clue
Because terror isn’t nothing new

Thanks for sharing,
Finally the air is cleared.
Are you really telling me
It was all about his beard?
They killed so many people
Who weren’t the slightest bit prepared
If they were, I do believe
They might have been scared

What’s the world coming to
When someone goes for broke
Simply because of the fact
That they can’t take a joke
You mean to tell me
It has to result in gun smoke
As a consequence of somebody
Cracking a bad joke

I find it hard to believe
That it’s a motivation
For killing fourteen people
Right at their work stations
And wounding many more
What happened to patience?
Well let’s forget about that.
How about human relations

We can blame their rage on al-Islam
As many are inclined to do
Or we can blame it on pure ignorance
Then ask ourselves who knew?
We can pick a million reasons
Right out of the blue
But the fact of the matter is
We don’t even have a clue

That *****-*** *****
Has found his niche
And is getting rich
But here’s the glitch
The Emolument  Clause
Because, because
Of what he exhibits
That it prohibits

That *****-*** *****
Finds himself in a ditch
But he refuses to switch
Because his palms itch
I swear to you friends
It’s all about the Benjamin
And he’s on a binge
You could say he’s  unhinged

That *****-*** *****
And his erstwhile friend Mitch
Both sing off pitch
Until you can’t tell which
One places first
At being worst
They both ignore the needy
And favor the greedy

That *****-*** *****
Like a buttonhole stich
Is only there to enrich
Things he has pitched
Like his property
With unusual glee
Which we all can see
He does nothing for free

It was the ****
And then the dust
Then crack *******
Became a must
Then ******
Betrayed my trust
Now it’s Oxycodone
For which I lust

Ever since
I was addicted
You could say
I’ve been conflicted
After all
It was who picked it
A time or two
I even kicked it

Over time
I lost my place
They took me to
Another space
Thought i was high
In any case
But I was low
A **** disgrace

That’s my history
As it were,
Don’t ask me which
I most prefer
To tell the truth
It’s been a blur
Whichever or
Doesn't occur

That’s not who we are?
Then who are we exactly?
I don’t know, don’t ask me
Or take the time to task me
With answering that question
Not who we claim I’m guessing
If our actions are any indication
We’re a totally different nation

That’s not who we are?
Our president likes to say
So then here is the question
Who are we anyway?
We’ve become schizophrenic
And we weren’t yesterday
Afraid of our own shadows
Like we are today

That’s not who we are?
But how many of us know
Who we really are
When it doesn’t show
We just pretend to be
What we’re not although
We’d deny that premise
If you asked us so

That’s not who we are?
The statement seems so strange
When you take into consideration
How much we have changed
The way we treat some refugees
Could be called deranged
From our former selves
We’ve become quite estranged

I enlisted in the army
To help my Uncle Sam
Wrapped myelf in the flag
‘Cuz that’s just who I am
But I grew up in a hurry
When I went to Iraq
See I had no idea at all
Whether I’d be coming back

When the bullets started flying
And the bombs exploded
You had best believe that I
Was locked and fully loaded
I quickly fired back
DIdn’t have to be goaded
To defend my buddies and I
‘Cuz that’s the way I soldiered

Now I suffer from
Post tramatic stress
Deployed too many times
If I had to guess
So is there any wonder
Why I’m one hot mess
And I pray every day
That I don’t regress

All of us who served
Were just grist for the mill
And those who made it out
Outnumbered who they killed
Am I a patriot today
Though my fervor had been stilled
How could I be once I realized
That needless blood was spilled

That’s the way the cookie crumbles
Or the orange slices
Now that he’s removed our troops
And reconstituted ISIS
He’s abandoned erstwhile allies
Leaving them to their own devices
And the words he had to say
Were not among the nicest

He added insult to their injuries
By saying they’re no angels
And that there’s lots of sand to play with
I wonder what’s his angle
See all it took was one phone call
Or maybe they just dangled
His towers there in Istanbul
In which he is entangled

They were once our friends
But with an expiration date
We abandoned them real quick
And left them to their fate
Proving we are unreliable
Which they have got to hate
We were once the beacon of the world
But now we’re second rate

That’s the way the cookie crumbles
Or the orange slices
Now those who ally with us
Can see what the price is
See, we cannot turn back the clock
So don’t ask me what my advice is
Pray to the Lord on High
That he stops rolling the dices

They’ve reported
That the virus is headed
To the 100,000 mark
But they say
Don’t tell the President
He can’t wish it away
Or else it might serve
To ruin his day

Don’t tell him
Why he should wear a mask
Cuz I really don’t think
He’s up to the task
Not to mention the fact
That he wouldn’t ask
He’s waiting for
The pandemic to pass

We know that he’s lost
In the Twilight Zone
So he exists
In a world of his own
It’s only him
That he’s ever known
Since his childhood years
And now he’s full grown

He’s busy trying to save
Our dead monuments
As he trots out
Vice President Pence
Whom he leaves front and center
To try to make sense
Of the quagmire we’re in
And remove the suspense

When it was sublime
There was reason and rhyme
To the American paradigm
But now we are remiss
Since we’ve abandoned this
Though some will still insist
That we still have greatness

But I’ve become real leary
I question that in theory
To those inclined to hear me
These times are very scary
If the truth be told
By embracing the bold
We’ve apparently lost our soul
It’s been bought and sold

Once a beacon of hope
Now we seem to *****
We’re on a slippery *****
Called misanthrope
In this new disguise
We’re hard to recognize
As we become despised
In most people’s eyes

Can we convalesce?
That’s anybody’s guess
We’re under so much stress
But nevertheless
We could be redeemed
Once again held in high esteem
At least we can dream
Of a new regime

The American public
Doesn’t give a ****
So invest in caskets
And refrigerated trucks
As a sure way to
Increase you bucks
While funeral directors
Say, “Aw shucks!”

Super spreader events
Are being held everywhere
And only Fauci
And his colleagues seem to care
So we’re dying in droves
Just to be fair
While catching the virus
That’s launched in the air

Follow the science
Instead of the fools
Cuz they have laid down
Some concrete rules
Social distancing and masks
Just a couple of tools
That are more precious than
The rarest of jewels

All around the White House
They’re dropping like flies
Yet the President insists
On telling us lies
But sooner or later
We’re gonna realize
The truth of the matter
Which depends on who dies

Let’s hope the annals of time
Are sure to record it,
HUD wants to raise the rent
On those who can least afford it
As Uncle Ben Carson
No doubt has ordered
To appease his master Trump
Who’ll surely applaud it

Carson has ordered furniture
At the people’s expense
So to call him a swamp creature
Makes perfect sense
Dirt from the wash
Will come out in the rinse
If we get rid of Trump
We’ll be left with Pense

While Trump and his minions
Live high off the hog
The average American
Is treated like a dog
What all of ‘em require
Is a careful watchdog
To keep an eye on
All those demagogues

They won’t be treated kindly
And in any case
They won’t be exonerated
Because of their race
So while I’m at it
Let me cut to the chase
Their eternal records
Can’t be erased

The Bible says
“Thou shall not ****.”
But apparently
We’re doing it still
Judging by all
The blood we spill
And often times
Just for the thrill

While advocating
Pure insanity
Some like to claim
Their Christianity
I don’t know
Maybe it’s only me
Who’s recognizing
What’s there to see

While gun violence adds
To the nation’s blight
We’re arguing
A Second Amendment right
Though the populous
Can’t sleep at night
We can’t distinguish
Wrong from right

Some don’t like
What I preach
And I’m accused
Of overreach
But I’m entitled
To free speech
Even though you may not
Like what I teach

The bigger they are
The harder they fall
**** Donald Trump
And his border wall
Cuz he hasn’t heard
The clarion call
Of those who are suffering
Because of it tall

Government is
At a total standstill
Cuz he shut it down
Like a jagged pill
We have to swallow
Although it may ****
And he’s treating it
Like it's run of the mill

He is devoid of
Human empathy
So don’t look for him
To have sympathy
For those who live
From one check to the next
Who might not adjust
As he says he suspects

The bigger they are
The harder they fall
And the Mueller probe
Will reveal it all
Congress no doubt
Will seek to impeach
To hold him accountable
For his overreach

The biggest drug pusher
That there ever was
Never did half the things
That Big Pharma does
But they get away with it
Primarily becuz
Of the billions they make
For their chest of drawers

The biggest drug pushers
Don’ t live in the hood
But they]re the ones
That get locked up for good
But they’re not the ones
Who ultimately should
When the disparity
Is fully understood

The biggest drug pushers
Wear white lab coats
And often are seen
Tacking copious notes
To justify the opioids
That their scrips conote
That we see them issuing
Out like by rote

The biggest drug pushers
Seem to get away
None have been sentenced
To a prison stay
They’ve been successful
At keeping at bay
Law enforcement
To this very day

By no means is my diatribe polemic
The truth of the matter it was systemic
The CIA created the crack epidemic
Which over time became pandemic
They needed a scapegoat to pay the cost
So they blamed it all on Freeway Rickey Ross
While acting as if he was the boss
In hopes the evidence somehow would get lost

Then a reporter for the San Jose Mercury News
Came along and gave them the blues
By exposing their involvement they stood accused
Of funding the Contras and substance abuse
Meanwhile Nancy Reagan was just saying no
Her husband Ronald was using the dough
To fund the Contras like I told you so
So don’t pretend as if you didn’t know

Ronald Reagan remains the patron saint
For Conservatives  everywhere even though he ain’t
What they make him out to be despite the taint
Of his secret dealings done without restraint
His secret deals with Iran and the Contra’s too
Was something that very few people knew
See there was no limit to what he would do
To insure that the Communists got the *****

The crack epidemic was allowed to grow
Because of the supply a never-ending flow
From Bogata to other places we know
Fueled by ambition and the money yo
So they shouldn’t pretend to be squeaky clean
While blaming the victims ya know what I mean
When they’re nothing short of being obscene
Though we tend to blame the average crack fiend

Come with me to the circus
The head clown is center stage
His one and only purpose
Is to entertain and engage
Nothing that he says or does
Seems to insult or enrage
He’s got their rapt attention
As he pivots to assuage

What would a circus be
Without its assorted clowns
In full display to see
As the spotlight makes its rounds
Some have a lean and hungry look
Others look overfed
They’re all ready for a donnybrook
Judging by the things they’ve said

They all would like to be
Stars in their on right
But we’re gonna have to see
Who’s ready for the fight
They’re all looking to break out
On this very night
Although who ever makes it
Will find that shoe is tight

The lead clown always was
The fastest on his feet
And regardless of what he does
He will not retreat
His eye is on the prize
While he looks to defeat
All those on the rise
Cuz victory is sweet

Though they pulled their poles
Out of the ground
The circus apparently
Never left town
Reminders of it
Are still all around
And occasionally
You can see an errant clown

But the clown never once
Made me laugh
See I’d walk away
When he crossed my path
How many times?
I’ve yet to do the math
But I think about it
While I’m taking a bath

I’ve done my research
And here’s what I’ve found
They can’t cheer me up
When I’m feeling down
I see no purpose for
For them being around
And I know to children
How this must sound

But I’ve put away
My childish things
Cuz I’ve lived my life
Inside of three rings
Now I’m looking towards
What tomorrow brings
Hopefully peace of mind
Among other things

The clay jar
Of deceit
Has been laid
At Michele Bachmann’s feet
Like it or not
Joe Biden did defeat
Donald Trump
And will soon take his seat

The clay jar
Of delusion
Made her reach
The false conclusion
That Biden didn’t win
But I don’t know
Where she’s been
Two seventy is what’s need
Which Biden far exceeded

Michele has
Called on God
To use His
Mighty iron rod
To smash
Biden’s facade
Although her prayer
Was flawed

She can’t accept
The truth
Biden’s numbers are
The proof
That’s why we raised
The roof
Because Biden
Is bullet proof

The coming of Trump
Like the coming of Jesus
Is hailed by the masses
He knows how to please us
Or maybe it’s that
He just knows how to tease us
Cuz he’s clearly not Christ
Nor is he close to Jesus

The coming of Trump
Like Jesus went through Galilee
All that’s missing
Are the palm fronds ya see
But Jesus rode an ***
Trump rides an airplane
And so you’d have to say alas
The two just aren’t the same

The coming of Trump
With all the adulation
As if his words alone
Could really save the nation
And those who are prone
To not have any patience
You find at every stop
Wishing him their salutations

The coming of Trump
Like Jesus’ Sermon On-The- Mount
Talks about bringing
Many things into account
He’s gonna build a fence
At a huge discount
The Mexicans will pay for it
Which for him is paramount
