For this bird
these woven feathers into web
of silken sage your home.
Silent you sleep, soon slips
the shell and falls the day
the evening of your life
with monsoon winds
your wings of flurry flutter
tiny flash barley seen
heart of ruby
feathers of
green.

On old world wings you've come
through ages gracing wilds
In gardens you hover, humming hawk moth
seemingly like a bird
With beating wings you sing to honeyed flower stalks
a proboscis long for drinking up
phlox and penstemon

GMO foods punch holes in cells
permeate the gut, creating gaps in guts
Leading to food floating in bloodstreams, rivers of pain
Food allergies, ulcers, IBS .... these are the milder troubles
I won't speak of  IBD, Cancer and Crohns disease
Babies born now allergic to foods, children allergic more than ever
They said, though the BT injected crops killed bugs, bursting their bellies
that they were still safe for humans....They were wrong!
Now these GMO crops are causing a myriad of gastro problems in people!
Food crops are now Roundup ready in the
Killing Fields.

night paths, I breathe the air attuned

I fell deep
the steel - cold blue well
of unwitting wishes
sun silhouetted, blinding me
picnic blanket lazy days
wet petals, soft your kisses
deep the lake, some dive drowning in
or breathe their way back
home again

Grey

Vast, this snowy land
still and deep the quiet country
cold the cloudy fog we breathe
gasping winds that rise and break the silence
along a fence line, slowly disappearing
how small the trees and distant hills that fade like smoke
and loom the clouds like ghosts, blooming madly white - the sky
if in winter we should meet deep along some snowy height
gazing as the grey and whites fade swiftly into night
some evening silently await the moon, void of words to speak
with great Peace - to breathe beneath the great north star that shines

If when you leave, you do not think of me
or do not call my name, then I will be a lost
and fallen star, diffused and drowned in
unforgiving seas. I will be restless on the waves
of my days, blind to all horizons
with dark stormy eyes
then only grey blinding fog
will settle in, descending
with smoke to ****, to choke
my dying heart.

Yesterday
music encircled your soul,
laughter rang, so beautiful
Brilliant bells, colors, mountain meadows
An open book, you fell
in love with everything
Green hills, trees you climbed
above the seas

Stark
vast beauty of you, with worlds long hidden inside
fenced in places, cracks to be filled
your shinning brilliance killed
becoming so invisible

Illuminated
a flower, translucent you bloom
centered, calm within the petal storm
rainwater washing
clean the core
a place, no locks
your heart
an open door

always coming, going
disappearing words written on a mirror
as you breathe, so shall love leave
words will reappear amidst foggy steam
only traces, of a heart remain

brief our days, love we cannot grasp
nothing won or lost - all is impermanence

Sometimes half asleep, scribbling words
or waiting for the morning sky to deliver birds
I fall off the edge, leave this tiny bed
float on rainy streets, there is no one that I meet
only a corner vacant house, where precious paintings hang
I am staring in the window, at flowers yellow, blue
this must be the room of Vincent Van Gogh, this starry night
with lily ponds so beautiful, fields of flowers
purple iris, Monet meadows
brown skin woman, hibiscus flowered
island scenes of Paul Gauguin, so brightly colored
there are pastel Degas dancing ballerinas
Marc Chagall, blue indigo people
without legs, they smile surreal
this museum of the mind
minutes like hours
turned sublime

In a dream, somewhere in other countries, never mapped
a man was speaking, though I did not understand, there was never any plan
and I listened to the wind and rain upon the trees.
With no church bells to ring, and birds were the chorus
I came upon a silent steeple in the forest, standing on it's own,
became a wild bird's home, wrapped in thorny vines
a crown to stain, with berries, bled upon my hands.
Mary was there too, she was looking through
a broken window pane, calling out my name
and too, all the forest called, bathing me in love.
Then with the birds I flew, heavenly into
a deeper dream, til I  awoke at dawn,
to fragrant flowers on the lawn
remembering such heaven.

I cannot lose the images, though I try
still the memories of Dragoon imbue my mind
evenings beneath agave moons, full bloomed
the silhouetted century plant flowers
the day's last light, the final sun shadows
our night hikes under Venus skies
signaled the fall, the bright blinking call
of night sweeping stars, and too the flashing,
the sparkling gold of our two souls
unearthed amid the giant stones
ancient, sacred through the ages
in the moments of truth
when love finds a home.

Never wait for me when far in fields I've gone
mad and wild flowered, abandoned every plan
my mind ebbed and fallen, no never call on me
if when I'm drunk in halcyon hills of day,
or in lucid colors of a pastiche floral parade
never when lost in splendorous meadows
a bird of peace, in hills I fly
amid some heavenly place
where I can only but
dream to die.

When we were far
and very young, in a place with no roads to follow
only a winding path, a branch to grasp
a place to fill the hollow

Blue the summer, with drowsy daisies came
petals, petals, we drew circles round the sun
gold spun, our halo heads of pollen
gold the bees of sleepy flowers
amid clover grass heaven

Days we lived deep in hills
we were endless green, in unmapped countries
stretching past the farms afield, in other worlds
too far to see, we lived beyond the gray of days
and we were free, in the shining silver
of our hallowed hills of ever.

The furniture was Oaxacan wood
finished in plum, red blood
with brightly painted finials
haunting little animals

a lazy, creaking fan
whirred on, above
in gasping bursts, too tired
to cool the room
and only moved
the paper bougainvilleas
glowing - orange, peachy, red

my feet, ever ecstatic to meet
the cool of clay saltillo tiles
red faced, happy to have escaped
into this mirage,  my one thought
being margaritas

She was sure of the shore,
much before the crushing storms
buried her at four - shoveled and pale
Sunk her soul
the brutal gales wailed

Tides dragged her off without a name
she lived where seashells lay
No words to speak, the silence keeps
fear's troubling beasts at bay

Cold watery world, no place for a girl
she sleeps now in a fern's curl
songbirds sing of forest's green
the frond gently unfurls

Walking the dirt path, down around
the gold brown hills that spill into the orchard
apples baked in the oven, sun of summer
and in September they are done
red, we dressed with honey, cinnamon
the air was bliss, the trees, the ancient harvest
with baskets full and too our hearts had overflowed
this was a place we called heaven and now you are in the trees
in the sweeping fields of turquoise seas, in the stars that never cease
here, where you once imagined and could only dream to remain as ever

and strayed away the moon blue
sparkle and glitter of skies
all starlit strewn, our interlude
the fire of you
the meld and melt

within a dream
to be found
the night we fell

In the warmth of a summer forest
I sat in the mossy scented air so low
quietly still, as silent raindrops fell
my woodwind breath of music, floated
as I remembered how to breathe
awakened in my soul, a well of joy and sorrow
it came in waves, to flood the heart, it's empty halls and chambers
a wave of grief soon surfacing, and I with nowhere else to run
was made to feel, letting the wave take me, a wet washing of tears
cry of locked away fears - deep to feel
of my hidden soul, a truth revealed
how sacred a moment, a place to heal
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2016
The path of the sun, with its arrows shooting us home
the light, the lulling moon miles, the night roads we travel
in vast fields of star flowers we are born, reflections in the river
floating we ride, wildly glide, some days on the smooth tides
with these eyes, sometimes half blind
we live and dance, we hide, we fade and die
all too soon only a ghostly glow,
a glimmer in the blue water.
CA Guilfoyle Feb 2016
I stay awake with stars, thinking of your eyes
amber fields, flecked with golden moons
your lips, red cast by secret coral worlds
swim, my hands you catch in woven nets
roped hair of salt and seaweed curls
hold my breath, catch and save myself
nightly, in the deep end, just before I drown.
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2015
I am surrounded by night, windless
hot as fever, even more troubled
the places I've called home, abandoned
along with everyone, days in a desert alone
I speak to no one, only the sky
the night moon, my mother
whispers in metaphor
something brilliant
I tremble, quiver
in time with
the stars.
CA Guilfoyle Jul 2017
Like water running, strange requiem
things I can't recall, though deep in soul feel
these skies, these burning lives
we are wild in the fields
only a sun, a storm, the rain
passing by.
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2015
Cerulean blue, the mad rippling
how I crave water, sometimes even green
in spring the melting of me
smooth ****** skipping
blue pools swimming
to feel an ocean inside
the storm clouds collide
unhinged from fire's dream
a torrent, a waterfall
of holy water
evaporating into
steam.
CA Guilfoyle Jun 2019
All the blue of day slipped quietly away
the glass of the lake with little winds
waved the sun to sleep, rippling in steely colors
drowsy with glints of gold.
The pines soon went black as birds
and in the darkness disappeared.
At the closing of day
a lone call faintly heard,
a sadness, the weeping of a bird.
CA Guilfoyle Nov 2015
To end this, is to run blindly - falling
loose limbs wild and flailing
with hands that can no longer grasp
a saving grace, a final branch
we are lost in desolation
it is pure wilderness
a long winter's night
with no path or tracks
to follow, cold like snow
we plow this landscape, barren
deep and dark below
to seep into the soul
lingering long in limbo
the ache of holding on
transformed into
the pain of
letting go
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2015
Sink deep your feet
the moss and muddy floor
grey with rain
the weeping moss
hanging in the trees
ravens cry, calling thee
into the starless void
of moonless canopy
a hidden place
wherein the soul illuminates
a cynosure of deeper truths
a dark that lights the way
CA Guilfoyle Dec 2016
Like stars fading into the blue of day
the blackness that somewhere slips away
how the sun fire burns clouds into the air
the river that wends through lands, a stream no longer seen
a winding path, a deer trail I follow, the sun shadows that swallow
the light of this sycamore forest, where time is somehow lost
amid the trees of blue and silver contrast
beyond these woods, my eyes follow
birds, that fly into the sky hills
far and disappearing.
CA Guilfoyle Oct 2015
When I travel far from crowds
find myself grey, in the raining clouds
I run far into the cedar woods
of green and mossy loam
with birds, I fly from storms
deep in a world
sweet with maidenhair ferns
soft the moss, to touch
as newborn rabbit's fur
many the hour
under sparkling trees
of yellow maples glistening
the chirping words, of smallest birds
that I can never see
echo sweet, I dream and sleep
sink into perfect peace
beneath the rainforest canopy

This house, it does not speak of me
I am unknown to these adobe walls
these cool clay floors
I press my feet against
wanderlust, I dance
through desert nights I roam
these sands to drink the moon
and follow stars toward home.
I travel endless nights
painted blue with black
wait for sunlight
once again to warm my room.
Nights I dream to be
in wild fields
with you.

Iris, how you shallow breathe in winter
shiver under clouds, laid in a bed decayed and brown
days of cold in a garden underground
long through winter
and spring only ever waiting
to unfurl the color blue of you.

Tonight, with its blue moving stars
and mars overhead, in its bright blinking red
the breezing leaves upon the rooftop eaves, calling
a falling star, impossibly high catches the eye, while dying
and I dream to fly, flit and roam amid night's celestial home
but with tethered feet, can only gaze upon the sky, to drink
in the space within my mind, I try to be and not to think
but feel the distant seas, that crash in waves and never cease
the endless ages, ancient and modern ways of humanity
and tonight, I imagine you out there lying soft upon the grass
tracing the dying stars, reflecting on the things that have come to pass
knowing very soon I too, will leave in summer.
CA Guilfoyle Sep 2014
When I wait for northern lights, absent is the moon
and too the sun has gone, silence of blue green lights come
like colored ghosts of whirling skies, they fly
and I no longer think of night stars
I can only dream to fly, to shine
magenta in magnetic fields

But tonight it is you
that burns across, beyond the heavens
dazzling brilliantly, now beyond this earthly plane
to join a symphony of seas and stars out there, unknown
gathering in the ethers of forever

Last night I dreamed of you
smiling, as you laid
in green fields laughing
and tonight I will see you
in the northern lights
shining

It is nothing hard to find
to be the stillness inside
the slowing of time
sink into the tranquil divine
the drift and melt away
of mind

It is nothing you cannot know
the unwinding slow, the softening of soul
the water trickle, splash and sparkle

It is something worthwhile
to let the moment be
swallowed by the sea
to be the shore, to sit and wait
ever at the gate of the unknown
