Faith
if he says please,
you're supposed to do what he wants.
he expects you to make the journey down south,
and if he says please,
you have to do what he asks.
there's no such thing as "no,"
if he's nice.
you'll listen to him,
if he says please.
but if you say please,
at once, he must stop.
although, often it isn't please anymore.

so,
this is my warning to you.
if you love a man who says please,
he doesn't feel the same.
he wants your service
for only one thing,
and he knows to always use please
to quiet your pain.
six letters will build you up,
break you down,
and hurt you.
you don't have to listen
to his please.

We roll up our sleeves
on sunny days in March
to watch the red scars
the winter left on our wrists
fade to a hopeful white

When I was little all I wanted to do was fly
Like angels in the bible
Or like Peter Pan
With a little bit of faith, trust
And lots of pixie dust

When I was a bit older
I dreamed of being like a bird
While looking out of the classroom window
Not wanting to return home
I could spread my wings and protect myself
And fly
Just fly

One day I tried to fly
When I launched myself off my balcony
But gravity pulled me down and red liquid blossomed from my knee
While tears stained my cheeks
"What were you doing?" My mom yelled
I hiccuped through my crying
"I just wanted to fly."

I am standing on the edge
150 feet up in the air
I try not to think of it as falling
I imagine myself finally flying
And feeling the wind rush across my face and leave me flushed
I spread my arms and imagine wings
And let go
All to fly
"Falling is just like flying except there's a more permanent destination."- James Moriarty

I'd blow kisses off
the tips of my fingers
And you'd catch them
in the palms of your hands
Now you avoid puddles
on rainy afternoons
And I spend snow days
catching up on
sleep

You write math equations
in the margins where
you used to scribble music notes
And I write phone numbers
on the backs of receipts
where I used to scribble
sonnets
Lines like luscious lips
That twist and tangle around my mind
Kissing my senses and igniting my inspirations
I play with your words
Day and night and fight my loneliness
My greatest strife
Fantasies tantalize the lids of my eyes
The stories
The raw emotions
Oh how I love the  poets

His smile
Is precious
We're young
But not reckless
Sweet not sour
Love is developing
More and more
By the hour
