My heart is a compass and you are the North.
I want to tell you that
you are the stars,
& I am a lonely astronomer
trapped in a city of lights.

Although I'm lost in the space
Of where we used to be,
I still find myself
Wandering through traces we left.
Grasping for your incandescence.

You are Polaris and I am caught in your glow.

I've always wondered what it'd be like to run away.

The sun on my face,
The grass under my feet
A world of responsibilities
forgotten.

It sounds like heaven.

But I do not want to become a woman on the streets
covered in grime and dirt and starving.

My fairy tale does not belong here.
It is not a wish that can come true.

And yet I want it more than anything in the world.
I just want to not have to worry about work, school, grades, money, family, making people proud, disappointing people, falling in love - or not doing so.

You spoke of a garden filled to the brim,
Of beautiful foliage and a divine aroma,
Of cascades of colors and an air of grace.
But I slept too late to smell the flowers

They were probably dead all along anyways.

Peter Cullen
“There were trees there once”, he said,
as his youngest grandson looked out across the barren landscape
that went on for miles and miles before his innocent eyes.
“And animals and birds too” he continued.
“Like the ones I’ve seen on the screen?”, asked the child.
“Or the ones Momma swore she once saw in a zoo."

“What were they like?” he quizzed,
without knowing the pain and sorrow
that rested in his old grandfathers heart.

“They were beautiful child, beautiful and free,
but the greed of our kind could not let them be.
The greed of mankind was a terrible thing."

“And will they come back? "asked the boy, with hope in his eyes,
as his grandfather rose, looking up to the skies.

“Only God knows my boy, only God knows”.
"If the sea returns blue child,
then only God knows"

that was Robin's finest hour, a rowdy voice over the air waves

a comic genius passes on, to the stage in the sky he's gone

the entertainment world mourns, that was Robin's finest hour
It's funny how I feel for you
Like when you make the sky turn a perfect blue
Like when you make it all seem so brand new
All these beautiful things you do.

I am not in love with you like a boy loves a girl
And you are not the center of my world
Yet you are such an important puzzle piece,
Such an essential part of me.
