Knots

I wish I could
unknow you
like I would
undo a knot--

over, above
under and through
my mind untangled
from the thoughts of you

but I find that
unknowing you
is less like unraveling
stubborn strings

and a little more like
trying to unclasp
a relentless grip
around my neck

cody dale
As you sit at dinner
Food before you
Others starve
Malnourished and weak
As you play
others Grieve
Smiles on your face
Are frowns on others
When you don't get your way
You freak out
Although others are used to the feeling of disappointment
And failure
So when life lets you down
Remember the people
Who die
In holes
Diseased and starving
Remember how good you have it
Remember that while you sit at home
In the air-condition
There are people in the street
Hot and sweaty
Dying for a taste of the life
That you have
Remember that while you
Are healthy
Others are sick
Their body's convulsing
Slowly dying
While you celebrate
Tired of people thinking that they have it hard when others suffer

I realized my mistake a second too late.
I had given her just enough to seal my fate.
The worst of me stays hidden from sight, so she placed me high above with no thought of what lies beneath.
She will run; this much I know. If she knows the truth there will be no where for her to go.
I'll close my eyes now and again just to see what I did then.
I promise you this, I'll not let us go there again.
I would rather have my friend than a loneliness that burns without end.
