to feel your touch
upon my skin
is to have
the little
snatches
of happiness;

a cup of coffee
on a rainy day
the scent of apple pie
on Christmas morning
five extra minutes
on the clock
before the alarm rings

rush at me
all at once
Neha Nathani May 2015
sitting by the candle
dîner pour deux
my hands I give you
take them
but don't hold on
too tightly
if you know
you are only going
to let them go
Neha Nathani Apr 2015
on drowsy mornings
I steal glances
at you

hoping
your eyes
are looking at mine too

and when
by chance
you meet my gaze

my hands
are charged
with fire ablaze

they want
to reach you,
my fingertips

but your angled
elbows glued
at your hips

standing akimbo
I can feel
you repel
me
Neha Nathani Apr 2015
I long for a gateway
a rabbit hole
to propel myself
through an intergalactic space

There
your hands will be warm
with pleasant promises

so that when you touch me
I can only feel
the purest kind of
wanting

There
you will lie next to me
and entwine your
veins with mine

so that we form
infinities that recur
like Mobius strips
inexplicable yet wonderful

Because
in this reality
your hands are weightless
grey shadows

only casting
an intangible presence

fleeting,
forgetting

and in this world
you press your body
so imperfectly
against mine

a vast chasm between
your lips and my lips
a distance
only too jarring to be filled

Why can't it be
that you want me
here
as much as I want you
here

your words
a wondrous pipe
a windy weapon
of pure persuasion

how they manage
to uncoil me
thoughtlessly
tantalized in your tune

moony-eyed fakir
you flout me
with your fairy flute

You think
I am only just
mesmerised

but when
I ****** my gaze
forward at you

I mean to ensnare
your soul
the way your silver tongue
has poisoned

mine.

You have the kind of eyes
that take away
too much of me

the brown of your iris
an inviting entrance
siphoning little pieces

of my entity
inside you
I am rejected

your heart is walled
there is no room
no space

drifting aimless
until I sink, unremembered
into the abyss
of your apathy

tell your eyes
to shut its promise gates
before I have nothing
left

I wish I could
unknow you
like I would
undo a knot--

over, above
under and through
my mind untangled
from the thoughts of you

but I find that
unknowing you
is less like unraveling
stubborn strings

and a little more like
trying to unclasp
a relentless grip
around my neck
