Hearing the endless, silent train,
Looking back, seeing myself hop aboard.
Looking back, he, in turn,
Nodding, like brothers, goodbye for now,
Quickening, out of sight forever,
Sharing only the sound of the silent train.

Jupiter (rough draft)
Aaron Goold Sep 2016
When the storm in your eye,
bends the marbled surface,
and rains fury on what beneath,
might be nothing but hot air,

remember Jupiter,

the majestic, heavenly titan,
failed to become a star.
No matter how hot his fury swells,
he remains a magnitude less than the Sun.

Remember Jupiter,

the jolly, red giant,
making enough light of his anger,
to glow while farther than the sun,
without being a star,
and his time being not nearly so different,
from yours.
This is a draft for a (perhaps) a larger poem, ideally with rhymes. Just thought it would be interesting to post my drafting process. All criticism, advice, feedback welcomed

Growing down
Aaron Goold Oct 2016
There's so much I want to give,
Of nothing I've ever had,
And if I had a billion dollars,
I'd be strapped for what to do,

Falling up and growing down,
My friends are all gone now,
And if I had to make a call,
It'da been long ago,

My shoes, I still got 'em,
Black with glue and tape,
And mom could never understand,
Why you outed me from the band,

No one will ever know this room,
Two beds, two guitars (down tuned),
And no one will ever know these songs,
I forgot most of them myself,

The nights now aren't too long,
Street lights cascade to dreams,
And I like walking from her place,
Even when she's never home

Live Forever
Aaron Goold Oct 2016
Just another day,
Under the faded Levi's sky,
When I said your name,
Back in another time.

You'd page me,
My mom'd let me go,
Into the summer heat,
Into angst and limbo.

Then, the girl.
Her named started with an 'S,'
Our brows would furrow,
And lay that 'ship to rest.

Yeah, just another day,
Under the faded Levi's sky,
When I said your name,
Back in another time.
Been listening to Oasis too much...

The second is on a thought
Aaron Goold Sep 2016
The second is on a thought,
The minute too soon or late,
The hour is on the top,
The day is saved for dates,
The week lives for ends,
The month lives by moons,
The years might give to yearn,
But the life belongs to you.
