I got low
I went down
In my descent
I brushed the ground
And down below
Amidst the dirt
My ***** fingers
Combed the earth
I went deeper
Nails and teeth
The bones of trees
The stones beneath.
And then- at last-
Upon the fringe
My hands brushed hell
My fingers singed
I reached bottom
Saw you there
Immersed in fire's
Dancing flare.

At the bottom
At the end
I watched you burn
And fell again.

The inferno's twice as hot
When you have to watch someone you love

Burn.

not hollowness but space,
not hardness but strength,
not pity but compassion,
not attachment but love,

You’ve told me
The nights seem darker
And the days are shorter
You’ve been sleeping more
And eating less
For the last week
You’ve worn the same
Stained dress
The curtains are sewn shut
The door’s been locked for so long
I think it’s a wall
I wonder
If you’re even in your room at all

I've finally removed the dirt from my eyes
So the light of the truth blinds me.
How could I have been so naive
To think that we could live in peace?

You shook my walls
And I trembled in fear.
Your words pierced my skin of paper
Left holes large and small.
The intensity of your stare
Glued me to the wall.

But revenge is the sweetest
When it's drizzled and shame
And topped with the pieces of his brain.
You paid too much attention
To keeping me down.
Now I'm successful
And you're empty on the ground.
It happens sometimes
that the night fades and
the light shines
through the keyhole
of your soul, but
only
sometimes.

On our Summer holiday
we
used to stay with
Grandma,
got there in a bus because
we never had a car and dad said,
he could only drive tanks and that
was back in the war on the opposite side
to the Africa corps,
but he didn't tell us any more
than that.

And growing wasn't always knowing the right way
any more than finding the school on a school day.

But looking back to break up is not my favourite cup
of chi and I think I know why,
but still don't understand.

They tell me life's grand and that's what it will cost when you're dead and your bones are tossed in the sea,
it don't worry me none,
I ain't planning to be gone for never is a long time away, a bit like the Summer holiday except that always came.

They say keep your head up
They say its one step at a time
But if your head is held too high
How can you be sure
The next step you take
Is onto solid ground?

I don't want you to fall down

They say life is crazy
They say death unavoidable
they say a lot of things
But I've never heard them say
They only want
Everyone to be happy

I don't want you to fall down

I breathe in deep
and feel the moment
glide between my lips
across the short distance
measured by sideways glances
and finger-tip brushes,
Stevie Wonder trickles
through the dancing speaker
next to your foot,
always tapping along;
I smile at you through the haze
filling up this tiny car
as we’re burning more than fingers
and singing along with all our hearts
*signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours!

I'm addicted to knowledge,
and so helpless to absorbing it
that falsities and mistaken truths
will make their home in memory,
only to be brought out
to make me the jested.
All can serve on a jury,
judge my errors, spread more
into the world, to abhor
and be abhorred
by the bullies and the bored.
Save me from this world of waste,
this constant copy and paste
of information with haste.

Social media stories with pictures and lies to enthrall,
The Digital Age will make false prophets of us all.
Comments about this Digital Age and how stories are spread for the desperate need for viral content for marketing purposes.
