On Winter's Eve of Goodbye
Matthew Alford Mar 2019
On winter's eve of goodbye
a lonely howl is cried.
No answer, no reply
for winter slowly dies.
His coat now grey,
his joints and muscles ache.
But tomorrow is spring,
a new awakening.
With youthful fury
the wolf howls a frenzied cry
he will fight
and winter will not have him tonight.
For the sunshine and warmth of spring
embraces him jn an incandescent sunrise.
