Balance
 Apr 2022 My Dear Poet
Maddy
Not tight rope walking
Not see-saw
Not teeter totter
Not bicycle
This is about calm, joy and eliminating hate
Another four letter word
Coming to terms rings a bell
Rather be sweet naturally
Change who or what does not work
Nurture what does
Keep it close to the heart
I wish you balance
Find it

That's how many days
We've been one
Its hard to remember
When we were two
When did two equal one?
9855 days ago ...
or so
1995 two became one...

You have my permission to use your own number of days...the formula works for everyone
"Whatever time your day ends
you and life became friends"

when blood is cheap
is it time to weep?

when animals matter more
is it time to keep score?

when police abuse
do we watch more news?

as rivers run purple with human blood
earth saturated with pain
skies run scarlet as lava flood
sweeps life 'n limb down the drain

Covid and war
who's keeping score?
what will come next?

impossible
If I can love
With a broken heart

If I can smile
With a broken mind

Then I can fly
With a broken wing

Fly I will,
Fly
I
Will
I see the stars of the night; in the days of your eyes,
The winds behind mountains; in the power of your voice,
The ways to wisdom, in the words you once spoke,
The songs of promise, in the desires you've now fulfilled,
The provisions of daily, in the bread you've provided.

I've longed for love; that this world can't provide,
Tasted of all it’s things; that are sour to my spirit,
And lived in the world; despite being it's visitor.

I'm not of this world; for I know this is true.
I'm not of this world; for I know of YOU.

As of my shepherd; I shall not want,
As of my green pastures; lead beside still waters,
As of my restoration; lead in paths of righteousness.

He is my all, my Jesus Lord.
The aliens who had teleported into my room asked me a question.

When had I last seen the stars?

I answered truthfully that I’ve stayed up late many nights, when the stars come out.

“But when had you last seen them?” They insisted.

It wasn’t for stargazing that I was up late, I admitted to them. Besides, there’s too much light in the city for the stars to shine here.

It must have been several years ago, when I was a little girl and my father showed me Orion’s belt, the last time we were camping in the middle of nowhere.

         They teleported me to space.

The stars were gone. And I hadn’t noticed.

They teleported me back to my room, because there was nothing to see. I went back to my studies. It was still night.

Three tears dripped out of my eyes. I finally stared out of the window as they fell.

Orion’s belt shone brightly back at me.
