The darkness gives the stars a meaning
Though the sun says stay, they flail to keep gleaming
The sea claims the shore as the heat consumes the sand
Melts my soul, you took me by the hand again

I no longer trust in what you say
You lit up the sky and I lost my way
Now the night is back, ill shine for one more day

Beneath the ice and snow
She helps me to glow
How can I let you know

The sun shines brightly to give the moon meaning
On the other side of night, my heart will keep breathing
But for now, I can't stand on my feet without falling
And you can't help the cold, though its what we're all dreaming

Though its what we're all dreaming...

The storms crack through, I grasp on your frozen rope
Let's hope the rain won't wash away all our hopes
Making circles with the memories, pulling down the broken trees
Talking to the autumn breeze, hoping summer never freezes over

I don't care about the games we've played
You lit up the sky and I lost my way
Now the night is back, ill shine for one more day

Beneath the ice and snow
She helps me to glow
I can never let you know

The days have past
They all left so fast
The lights gone past
The clouds came to fast

The darkness gives the stars a meaning
Though the sun says stay, they flail to keep gleaming
The sea claims the shore as the heat consumes the sand
Melts my soul, you took me by the hand again

By the hand again......

Rust
A Slow Heyoka Dec 2019
From all of the promises slept
My futures rest to the chalk board
Rolling my eyes to "You Give A Little Love"
Malone in a monotonous tone

Used to say it was to bright to see
But there's a reason why some things only glow in the dark

And so, with time, behind these holy eyes

You will know the devil

The Dinner Party
A Slow Heyoka Nov 2019
When I was younger
I thought that tree stumps
were fairy dining tables
I dreamt about inviting
guests to lavish parties
So I ate jam tarts
every time the sun set
And drank ten bottles
of Kool Aid for a bet
I didn’t regret a single sip
but I think the adult inside me
wished I did
Pressing on regardless
into an infinite described
by fluttering eyelids
like moth wings in moonlight
The shutters flapped open,
close, open, close
And the spirit felt known
Part of a collaborative project at a local writing retreat. Its not all mine.can you guess which parts are?

The Craftsman
A Slow Heyoka Nov 2019
The table in the stable
made the craftsman able.
What happens when the craftsman
Can no longer rhyme?

Do they pack their tongue in clay and cry?
Do they have moss growing on their backs?
It smells too sweet to be moss, but too sweet to be grass.
But then we said **** it, just light it up and pass.

And when the lights burnt out
So did my patience and I yelled at the moon in a rage hotter than the sun.
Then the heat dropped
And once again, I could see clearly.
Part of a collaborative project at a local writing retreat. Its not all mine.can you guess which parts are?

The Weather Man
A Slow Heyoka Nov 2019
They said that it would rain today
but for some reason when it didn’t

I was strangely disappointed.
Nevertheless, my jealousy pursued

like a jewel in the nightlight.
Revelling, repulsive, catastrophic.

The earth opened up and all the flowers fell inside.
They mixed with all the tar and soot and rust and then

made us sigh in awe.

In awe of how quickly a tough decision can be made
on our fates.

Suddenly, abruptly, snapping shut, an elastic
band on the door of the future.
Part of a collaborative project at a local writing retreat I attend. Its not all mine. Can you guess which parts are?

Dive trails
A Slow Heyoka Aug 2019
What do you know
I'm full of surprises
I'm glad it made you laugh
When I talked of love and setting suns

I don't know what to call it
So difficult to read
Presented with your affection, the attention
Then eat the dust you leave behind

Get close to the rock
That won't sweat your crazy smiles
Want what I can't give you
The new range without a brand

Get closer to the wild
She's bracken for the lonely
Want what you cant give me
A sunrise in loves demand

Sit and cheer me on
These dive trails were for you
Every note I hummed this year
A part of every sad smile melody

I thought I might make this rhyme
But that wouldn't be our way
Reject whats needed deep within
As soon as the other gives up the game

Get close to the rock
That won't sweat your crazy smiles
Want what I can't give you
The new range without a brand

Get closer to the wild
She's bracken for the lonely
Want what you cant give me
A sunrise in loves demand

The best of me is yours
I've had to stop to catch my breath
I'll save the scissors for later
When you come mining for my skin again

A hernia in a basement
No nurses are to tend to me
I'll save the pencil for my lyrics
Believe in me -
I'll pay for it in skipping beats

Get close to the rock
That won't sweat your crazy smiles
Want what I can't give you
The new range without a brand

Get closer to the wild
She's broken for the lonely
Want what you cant give me
A sunrise in loves demand

So stand and cheer me on
These dive trails, they were for you
Every note I hummed this year
You're part of every sad smile melody

I don't know what to call it
A warrior in defeat crying "Axios" up wind
Presented with your affection, the attention
Our script must be lost along the way

Get close to the rock
That won't sweat your crazy styles
Get closer to the wild
She's broken for this homie
Get close to the rock
That won't sweat your tender smiles
Get closer to the wild
She'll take your heart and run a mile

Sink or swim
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
Each fact is true
But not all truths are facts
You could spend all day measuring string
You can also go bet at the tracks

People will believe what they want
It doesn't make it any less true
But when you find the fact of the matter
You'll be digging up the rest of the crew

A captain can sink with his ship
That's what my mother would say
But that captain will never see daylight again
Unless someone else is willing to pay

Brainstorm
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
The earth is my mother and she is my home

The sky above me, wherever I am. This is my father, my guidance toward future prosperity

I make my way with honesty, docility and adaptability
I make them my divinity along with life and death

I relinquish all concept of strategy, design, tactics, law and talent
I place principle, benevolence and the grasp of fore-locking opportunity in their stead

I hear and spout both reason and madness yet take with me only sensibility and gratitude toward insight.

I am no longer prompt, for I refuse to look into concepts toward times restriction

I have no time.
I make the moment my time, the lightning my eyes and the relentlessness of the onset storm my very being.

My mind is my vice, my sword, my castle
Wit is my devise and confusion my destruction

My fullness is my strength, my smile my cure
My emptiness my reckoning and my serenity my allure

As I entered the blinding wastes, alone and without faith
I found why the darkness pressed me so hard, I became the only face
I climbed the veil, slipped into the abyss and found solace in the all-consuming darkness

The light is but a memory
A blister on my humility
Handcuffed to eternity
I gave in to the humanity

I am the fold
The warmth
The knife
I am the gentle brush of the October storm
I'm the addiction in my strife
I found the fight and pushed back the blight
As I slowly transcended the night

My faraway acquaintance
I think of you when I go to the sweet shop
Wonder if you're awake yet
Wonder if you're fast asleep
Are u real?
Are you there?

I'll be there, over the skies
Waiting for you through those purple clouds

My faraway acquaintance
My thoughts dwell on our engagements
What can I give you,
What can I say
Are we the same?
Can we see it that way?

I'll be there, over the skies
Awaiting you through those purple clouds

My faraway acquaintance
We are not friends
But mutual providers of friendly conversation
I would like to see you
Even for a day
Help me smile
Make me grin again

I'll be here, over the skies
Awaiting you through those purple clouds

Intuition
Is a terrible thing
It forces
An imaginary summery
Situational
Statutory
A mock account

Akin to your smile
The one
You give me
No real
Happiness
For a while

Just because
The car
Is Travelling on
wheels
Does not mean
There is an engine
Under the hood

Or that
There could not
Possibly
Be hamsters
All running riot
In their
dynamo wheels...

I don't think
You understand
How happy
I am
To see that
You learned
To help yourself
Or could this
Be
Another illusion
You have sent me?

Regardless
Like
Sylvester and Tweety
we will
Continue to delve
Into our mystery

Maybe
We'll both
Forever be
That ironic
Knee-****
Suffering
Succotash

We always wanted to be...

A false poet?
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
I am yet to meet a poet
That truly thought themselves a farse
Yet, many a contradictory word they utter
Behind a blanket of clouds beneath their brightest stars

If like me
They may pluck from the sky
The paint spatters swirls in the night
Grasping for the absence of doubt in an attempt to ramify
To purify, quantify, reclassify and personify
To reunite those childhood dreams of becoming Samurai

Then many a fog and dew slicken breaths
Make tails of torture and woe
Creating enemies in a fantasy
A vertigo
A muddy puddle raindrop staccato

If the stars in my sky could fit in my hand
My quill would never run dry
Coupled with the raging of the storm I was born in
To the smog, A maelstrom, thunderbolts will statify

If a false poet is illiterate, not versed in grammar
the bottom of the bourgeoisie
If their unthoughtful words stultify
I'm afraid this poet is me

The truth is

I wouldn't know what a true poet was
If they were staring me right in the face

I can't imagine what a false one would be like
Perhaps they may just need a star

To hang in their empty space
I made up a word today: Statify - To Statically charge an object. My English and Physics teachers would hate me right now HAHA. :)

The end of the day
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
You didn't do anything cool today?

Tell me about it anyway

Tell me about how you got up
and wiped your tired eyes in the mirror

or how you spilt your tea when you got up to smoke
or how you cut yourself at School
or how you got stuck in traffic
and how you lost your shoes
or fell over in a panic

Tell me about the sun
as it shone down on your face
Tell me about the darkness
Those secrets just in case

Tell me about your happiness
Tell me about your wrongs
Tell me about your frustrations
I'll shun them with my songs

Tell me about your health
or what you had to eat
Most of all, tell me the truth
So I can lift you off your feet

The Time Barrier
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
Like a faster than light chicken attack
Breaking out of the Higgs field,
With an explosive egg launcher in my backpack
Redundantly pecking at the spaghetti-like wormholes,
As if I can actually eat them
With destiny calling,
Like saying goodbye to the Bekenstein limit
And applying some pressure with an infinite-bit tourniquet.

Sapphires of Dialogue
A Slow Heyoka May 2019
Satire can be like a samphire sapphire
Covering the sand of the skeleton coast
Luring the gluttonous out to the sea
Out to their death, ripened to the cool desert breeze
The north dreams of such a day
To become a bloodied ruby ready for the fire
A flame that torches any such sanctuary of the soul
A blaze set forth by none other than our long deceased fathers
Shall burn on forever, branding, imprinting our inner desire
All akin to the sapphires of death
That guy once said;
"The gravel that makes all grovel..."
Now, will you grovel to our kings?

Acquiescence
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
Though I'm gone and memories barely linger
Lightning still strikes, these wounds, our words
They still bleed, from every one of our fingers
Those words we reluctantly welcome
Those needles we know cannot cure us

I wonder how now and then
How we can get so curious
The fake, meritorious itches
That turns out to have lied
Now you're just staring at a doctored photograph
Inflicting another impalement on your pride

Lazy Days
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
Woke up today
Usual summer sweats
Covering me from head to toe
The sun beams through the window
Directly covering my entire bed
Slept like an angel
A solid 8 hours

Strip down and let the sun do its thing
Turn around to see my crush
She definitely needs a recharge
She gets sweaty palms too
You can see the droplets
Looking almost like condensation on a coke can
Rifled over her Tattoo's
I give her a nudge and wake her
She looks up and attempts to bury her head in me
As she slowly falls back to sleep

You're the only sunshine I dream of today
You're the toasty heat in which I like to play

That holiday breeze, you compel my sway
Induction, comparable to that of Faraday

You're the singularity, the gravity of my decay
I tend to lose myself within you, like the hooks out on the quay

Half A World Away
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
Looking back to when I was born
An understanding wasn't the way
I'd lay there learning the patterns in lights
I was half a world away

When I was 4 I'd escape the house
A few doors down to play
I'd coerce my Nana for corn and kale
I was half a world away

Not once did I ever think
That anyone would make me pay
For running riot all around town
I was half a world away

Oh wow look at that
Say "thank you" they would say
I scratch my head all puzzled like
They were half a world away

Oi, knuckle down
Why won't you do any work today?
All caught up in root negative ones
"You're half a world away!"

A few quick snaps, I was the act
Ready for good old Broadway
I took loads of drugs and sang for some mugs
I was half a world away

I held your hand and kissed you
That dizzy feeling never strayed
I guess that's just the price I pay
For being half the world away

I was sitting right beside you
Saving the world on replay
Halo with my heart, on head
I was half a world away

School was really hard
I'd cut out half the day
Try to explain black holes to you
As I was half a world away

That evening when you left me
I sat and cried and prayed
That you would never hate me
For being half a world away

Instead of brewing darkness
I went and moved astray
I wrapped myself up in you
While I was half a world away

Each breath, each step, each rung
Each hair that turns to grey
I will be always missing you
While I'm half a world away

So you can think it silly
How I carry on my way
And I'll still be there guessing
Why I'm half a world away

Tonight I'll forget to wind my clock
I'll wonder as I lay
And think to myself what it would be like
If
Just for once...
                                                              ... We weren't half a world away

Set
I'll take you on a journey
If you help me make it
But make it unbelievable, surreal
Make it so lovingly unbearable to feel

Follow me and ill follow you, everywhere
Twice
But follow me carefully
Sometimes I miss the Ice

I'll take you over the mountains
We can see the newborn snow
Come with me over the ocean
We can see the sunset glow

I can see it growing
Shining through your eyes
But I can see it going
When you look to other skies

I can tell by your moves, your future is bright
For now, make me the sun and hold me tight
You're my moon, never forget
I'll shine upon you, long after I set

Wake me up if I fall tired
Hold me close if I fall asleep
For now, don't break your grip
Because when you wake up
                                                                                  ...I will be gone

Wonderland Limbo
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
I tumbled down a rabbit hole
I was told to never go back
But I spent a whole 9 years there
I thought Alice had my back

But now like Mr rabbit
She follows me all around
She likes to chase my shadow
Just like a hungry hound

She carries her heart in one hand
And a knife in the other
Just like me, she can't decide
If she should even bother

The truth is she truly loves me
That I'm sure she surely knows
There's only one such muse as me
That can force out all those prose

The little white bunny rabbits
We has a fluffy white tipped tail
We can bring out the best and worst in you
All it takes is a loving tale

Now Alice has smashed her mirror
No more wandering for her
I hope that she can one day smile
With no more tales of her hurt

But you see it's far more complicated
Than any could ever see
Because she craves more than just me and just him
She loves and craves her fantasies...

A rain that could drench you in shame

Don't worry, I know how you play

Not now, no way
you'll fall on your own words just wait

You heard me say it
Don't give me a reason to mistrust you
And you went ahead and lied those perfect teeth through

I expect you will go and tattletales about me now
I care not, I'm bulletproof
Invisible, I'm free

A Train Away From Home
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
Every time the words "I love you"
Rang hollower through your skin with frequency
I meant every repetitive word

I could never say it enough
When I would hold you on the shoulder you hold so dearly
I was embracing every bit of warmth you would give up
Consuming it and keeping it for as long as I could

But when we find each other's gaze
It penetrates me
You seem to slide right through
Anxiety and sickness kicks in
All I want to do is kiss you because every kiss could be our last

Destroys You
A Slow Heyoka Apr 2019
I expect nothing less from you tonight

Sick and tired of wandering off to another world?
The reality, it sticks to you like an appendix
Useless yet necessary
And when it hurts it explodes

It was just a kiss, but now your head spins like that bottle
In it way too deep
And some days when I walk by the house to wait for a bus
Energy seems to pull me, like magnets
You wrap me up in a copper coil
As you pluck the strings my head becomes that appendix

I scream the world away

I expected more from you tonight

Looks like I'm high and you're not here
Again
Then I remember that you're more of a tornado than a hurricane
Hit and miss with you
The ***** that had shame
A pride that never let you really play the game

Because there are no answers to the questions we battle with
I bruise myself, under my skin
Let's all ignore it, run away and shut every door
What is innocence, if not ignorance adored?

I guess I'll whisper to the world today

I expect nothing more of you tonight

I came back to earth in style
It's time we buried our sins, our narcissistic twins and toast to the solstice tangent
Let it take us away to another world where we can bury our heads in it

I guess some of us need to be the victim
Because that's all we know how to be
So the next time you need to go wandering

Hold your pillows as you would hold me

And pray for the day
Where you might be able to do everything yourself

And I can do a bit more for everyone else

Whilst we all sing for the world one day

Words of amendment attempted to form around my mouth
As I watched a sinking ship sail away over a burning bridge

I tried to smack them away with a kiss but it just left a rash of scorn
Which seemed to spread all the way to the elbow grease I'd been saving for that rainy day

It made it really hard to pull my head out of the asphalt
The hole I could have left it in forever
I guess I can always go back to it whenever

If it wasn't for these vexing and inauspicious Idle hands
I'd be at the end of the game by

                                                         NOW

There's salt on the bedsheets and tears in the mill
How I long for those poison claws
To drag me back into her ghyll

Frosty fingers burning my neck
Scratching at the hourglass sands
Chasing that nostalgic wyrm back into the pages of Zanarkand
                               .                .
And still...         .            .
                          []        []
It may seem a little cliche
I find it kind of hard to convey
The hardest thing I did to this day
       Was watch that sinking ship
                                                                                ...Sail away
