These ducks of rivers
Such on odd looking brood
Slapping wings of  silver
Those paddles are crude


Onward on water they trudge
Upward the river they budge

Heads of a warrior band
Bobbing in the wake
In an eddy between rock and sand
Lies a respite for goodness sake

Onward they struggle
as if a mighty tug
To get this lil'gaggle
Safe warm and snug

The willow bows to protect
Little buds it had pushed through
No work goes unpunished
In nature’s cruel view

A thought of your whisper
came to my heart not my head
I knew it was really you

This new heart has felt
a protective layer, if not ready
When this young heart starts to feel

My spirit guides me
to follow the flow of my heart
but my brain protests so

Drawing hearts in the sand
Using your toes not your hand

Gazing and watching nervously praying
Please Lord let it stay

Only to watch the wind and waves play

Peace in a thousand notes
