we elect others
of the more unseemly type
to keep our hands clean

this dream came in waves
from the heat of the summer sun
on wings of pelicans just following along
as we laid among the dunes
away from prying eyes
dreaming of days
just like this
dream

something luscious near
hinted within summers breeze
my senses tingle

I fought his control
thinking my liberation
then I saw darkness
now I'm walking in his light
never going blind again

never saw a rose ramble
nor a stone rolling on along
but i listen to blue bird songs
just to imagine what they sing

dormant willow bloom
nestled in winter cover
aching to burst forth

i already knew
knowing you as a dream first
then seeing you there
an angel glancing at me
our souls initial embrace

the tiniest spark
ignited fevered passion
fueling our love

forever
melting our hearts
together

where shady goes down
between dark and coming light
I am there standing

that right fork took
led to yet another
endless choice made

she laid beside me
inspiring my masterpiece
pages wrote themselves

in seas of madness
this earth shall never perish
humanity cried
as they themselves slowly died
from festered internal strife

fleeting summer treat
melts faster than you could eat
racing to finish

her image glowing
bright under palmetto moons
the rival she outshined
alluring me ever closer
beaching on her ample shores

we walked this winding trail
along the valley up to a ridgeline
there was an old miners cabin at the top
he had the most spectacular view
there was a rusted bed frame still inside
from his bed he could see out a tiny window
to the heavens
and hear a tiny creek meander below
the quiet overwhelmed us
as we all sat in silence
taking in this vista
he must have seen a thousand times
we wondered who he was
and why he left
was it bad news from home
or did he tire of the peace
of being alone
we followed the same meandering  trail
back down to the valley floor
lookin back one last time
we thought we saw him wave goodbye

I wander in hopelessness
this barren sea of humanity
my hope fades to pity
in a world of uncommon ground
stuck on an island called isolation
resigned to watching fruit grow
on a lone mango tree
waiting for a perfect tide
to catch a simple meal
oysters clams muscles
and if I am lucky
a succulant spiny lobster
a cold glass of fresh squeezed lemonade
as I watch the sun descend
on this lost society

standing wild eyed under such wonder
strangely amazed this not learned before
my blinded eyes can finally not ignore
