Praying mantis prey
As the swines consume the dead
The Jackyl's scale weighs

Water slaps at rocks
Keeping a dreamy back beat
As I drifted into a nap

I just stopped caring
As the hummingbird stops it’s own heart
Then I started beating again

a seventeen syllable
sentence broken up

Dark lonely finally rest
Abandoned whispers in the trees
Blue beetles scurry merrily darkly
Among lifeless brown leaves

reflecting
sunlight highlights our scars healing
finally seeing what God has been planning

Your eyes close as you go slack
I lean in as you arch glistening back
We're getting close one or two more should do
Then in exhaustion I finally collapse into you

that angel oak looks easier to climb now
hanging over that old street of my youth

Dee Cee big spenders
Silver cars and golden wives,
copper pennies clang

early dawn writing

I love chili, meat, onion, tomatoe, and beans
My wife makes it, could take it,
Sometimes chooses to leave
When she forgets to *****
the air out of the chili beans

this judgement day begins

under the veil
hidden in darkness
bright lights blind

Dull moon light, parts the bed
writhing limbs, tangled in sweet scented sweat
as the stars jealously peer in

The clubs are my brushes the courses are my empty spaces
Coloring with wide draws and drooping fades
I sweep in a birdie as my friend counts his paces
I yearn for the roars and the smiles on their faces

When I was young and a day was thirty six not twenty four
Now I am done in nine I wish I could play more

Today is not the day to see what I've seen
Not with the sun shining and everything
From the horrors of paschendale
To that cross on a faraway hill
Humanity has left quite the legacy
From blood stained Hamburger Hill to
Mastering the art of wholesale butchery
I Never wanted to claim my ancestors yokes
The things I've seen are the devils jokes
Pitting man against man and brother against brother
Our sisters and mothers weep to each other
Oh, the things humanity makes me see
Wish I could swipe right and wipe clean
These wicked scenes of humanity

pondering the past
all those little troubles had
smiling at my kids

stare into yourself
beyond those familiar lines

Late night wind dancer
On glass, slow shuffle juke jive

She’s a mystical child
Her spirit rises with moonlight

caged birds
never knowing flight
swing instead

time blasted pine sides
sand filled yards, abundant burrs
ghost crab paradise
found among sun kissed noses
lost among high rise dollars

This new heart has felt
a protective layer, if not ready
When this young heart starts to feel

No dew this morning
Cold air blowing in, halting
Waters escaping
