Praying mantis prey
As the swines consume the dead

Ever witnessed true elegance
true grace, lying sleeping in human form

wolves shed tears, howling

early dawn writing

Jutting up from earth's lower jaw a
Jagged mountain tooth slices higher and higher
leaving me in utter shock and awe at the
slashing upward  mighty rock spire

lost sunsets
waiting on darkness
losing light

In the spring I knew it all
As Summer was a ball before the Fall
Into Winter when I look to recall

chaos elected
buffoons, jack booted baboons
trample liberty

set your eyes on the sun, alone
when I'm dead and gone
You will find me there looking on

daylight fades sooner
in the land of midnight sun
the darkness draws near

wild canine howls heighten
under northern light apparitions
lean times are coming

while frantic brown bears scour
glacial streams for half dead salmon
fat reserves needed

purple fireweed fields
have turned a dead shade of brown
soon to be covered white

big game herds panic
as caribou calves snuggle close
carnivores prowl near

the falling is short
not much time to prepare
winter is coming

cool glacial breezes
carry hints winters comIng

Anticipation
Like a first time high school prom
Like the last mile home

pulling riptide
calm above deceiving
turbulence below

i find repose there
nestled warmly in your arms
your beating heart soothes

pondering the past
all those little troubles had
smiling at my kids

It’s fun watching my youngest bird molt
Charlie her cockatoo does it too
It’s so cute!

I love chili, meat, onion, tomatoe, and beans
My wife makes it, could take it,
Sometimes chooses to leave
When she forgets to *****
the air out of the chili beans

A haiku is not
a seventeen syllable
sentence broken up

under the veil

Eroding facade if human history
Lost on hard rocks showing no emotion

Rock is hard memories of ghostly laborers
Who placed the stones that sealed our words inside

caught on endless seas
rudderless drifting  oceans
swaying, I'm slipping
beneath rocking swaying swells
sailing me gently asleep

time and time again
you never cease to surprise
waking me again

Water slaps at rocks
Keeping a dreamy back beat
As I drifted into a nap

falling skies
chicken little screams
sheep stampede

Dark lonely finally rest
Abandoned whispers in the trees
Blue beetles scurry merrily darkly
Among lifeless brown leaves

smoothly worn benches
people recalling their loves
now resting above
flowers adorned, closer by
those forgotten, turn away

When the rooster crows It's
judgement day...again

Another I pray to pass as
this judgement day begins

Piercing evening glow
A show of crimson lights above
Guide my voyage home

reflecting
sunlight highlights our scars healing
finally seeing what God has been planning
