Parades them around like some kind of peacock feathers.

The letters say he has earned the right.
To tell you what's a worthy plight.

and how much he has learned.
Swearing he knows best
and stealing everyone's turn.

After the blubbering, blabbering,
pomp and circumstance.
I came away saying
" am not sure this guy has a chance?"

summers longest day

fanning embers, warm and sweet

This stage has been set
before ever being born
destiny to stay

The paths been rocky
pitfalls, deadfalls, mine fields, just
to be here at all

changes inevitable
As wisdom follows

Twilight of golden living
eternal sunrise

restless leaves rustled
unsettled winds swirling in
grey light, gloomy rain
perfect popcorn movie day

The mountains hold it back
As earths natural barracade
Grey stubborn and dark

But their enemy has started
it's slow inevitable advance
Like a million times before

The mountains front flank
braces flexes and holds

For the light says they see you
And wanted it made clear

rhyming words tied by themes
running in and out of my head
like a faucet with no off or way
to tuning them out
So I write and write and write
with no  thoughts consequence or doubt
People look strangely at me
when I talk in rhythmic rhyming ways
my kids are amazed to this day
some say it weird or some kind of
crazy *** savant who can't speak properly
Well here is the news or
as they use to say
the straight dope
so tuck this away
The words we poets right
are not just words for play
they are all human feeling emotions
and critical mind states just said
and put out in an easy familiar way
for those less fortunate who can't
read think and write this way.

bobbing, mindless thoughts adrift
Scraping bottom earth
anchored here, your coral sea

Crisp clear predawn sky
Ample hues of dull moon rays
Enjoying love under lunar light

Rest finally came when
journeys struggles, your words eased
my walk finally slowed

heard a bird whistle
for the first time this spring
I felt warm inside

rewind yesterday
play back over and over
like catchy love songs

I've been old before
always stayed pass closing time
not new getting old

front beach, wild night, love affair
we are still sailing
on wind from that magic night
to our forever sunrise

brown water waving
showing turbulence beneath
my vision, clouded

mysterious rhyme
wraps around every mind
never ending time

On an open valley hillside
The candle light flickers
As they bend to cool winds
Thousands of swaying flames
Coaxing precious droplets down
Hoping to wash in the cool rain
the annual fireweed dance ignites
blazing growth to the parched
valley floor below

dancing, Shakedown Street
reminds me where my heart lied
and left me for dead

When you force me down
Even ****** knees wont do
crawling filth, barely
Gasping, bleeding begging you
just one more forgiving chance

I am so entertained by all this hurt
and pain slicing my heart just the same
as an arrow shot with perfect aim

mantis stalking prey
stoic, silent assassin

stacked miles high, stashed away
