rooster crows anew
from the empty lot next door
strutting around trash
he has pecked over before
with nothing better to do

when life pulls the rug
falling certainly harder
enjoy solid ground
as long as you may have
for it's never that way long

meandering dreams
weaving thoughts circling you
excited to wake

She’s tougher then nails
Stronger then oak, but shaking
What rattles mountains
Upon which my walls are built
anchored deep in her bedrock

Winded to the top
Mist filled mountain, chilled
The burning jnside

Peace in a thousand notes
Heard as one,  struck as one
The single chord of the heart

her world ***** me in
funnels me willingly down
lifting the tubs drain
cleansed again by her sweet sweat
dripping on our bathroom floor

it's been a tidal ebb and flow
moments of bliss then the lows follow
I long and pray for the lake days
the general ease of the lake malaise
something said for the lake life
less current and less strife
Now we are in the open ocean
rogue waves and that washer motion
better plot our course and to it we stick
slip into a safe harbor, with wounds to lick
The boats been rocking on this voyage
thank god we have each other in this turbulent age

I felt that first chill
never really have before
old age advancing

Even on the gloomiest faces
the light of love has traces
a firefly leaves in a
forest's darkest places

The warm hearty soup came late
After the main course with everything
We all drank every last drop

The willow bows to protect
Little buds it had pushed through
No work goes unpunished
In nature’s cruel view

feeling her warm breath
sending cool chills down my spine
heat begins to rise

I don’t play golf to shoot a low score.
Sweating, frustrated, cursing, never quite happy
I play golf to lose ***** in the woods.
Then getting lost trying to find them.

deep blues rarely seen
every green deeper still
Alaskan august day

perfect picture life
marble steps, porcelain smiles
but your eyes can't hide

down there in the cracks
I used to get much less light
not much, just enough

time never stopping
only thing that ever will
old body aching

Drawing hearts in the sand
Using your toes not your hand

Gazing and watching nervously praying
Please Lord let it stay

Only to watch the wind and waves play
with heart shaped sand away

below billowed clouds
grey cast shadows flash past
birches frantic waves

This little one is
My sweet yellow bird
With a butterfly heart
