walked with a blind man
took the long way, fading sky
he showed me the light

across still white peaks
northern winds chill southern warmth
alaskan summers

the air snapped coldly
barking out crisp harsh orders
forgetting my coat

The mountain scalp
has been peeled back
showing a hint of new growth
as spring conditions the fertile
earth below the peaks retreating cap

here is Rome burning
no Nero, hordes, just riddles
Do I hear fiddles?

It can start and stop at any moment
Always appears to be moving forward
It seems to slow down speed up or even stop
It lasts forever but is always running out
It’s always coming and going but not back and forth
Never up never down
But usually good or bad
The news it brings can be wrong
But like the rain is always right
It’s the moments between the ticks
That brings in the light

upon these aged eyes
nothing so beautiful
since first seeing you

the ripple whispered
subtle nonsense bumbling on
mountain brook babble

Mesmerizing water
Clear tar heel blue, mountain pool
This fool, peering back

She’s rubbing her skin thin
Stressing about me stressing again
Wish I could take her worry away

those aqua green eyes
swirl about unimpeded
my tempest bound head
century storms all my days
since I laid sight upon you

light blinds darkened eyes
hidden from enlightened skies
under clouds they hide

infatuated
tongue tied twisted up inside
totally consumed

every breath a struggle
long lives are never certain
the chick breaks the shell

My desperation
me frantically searching
and never finding you

My spirit guides me
to follow the flow of my heart
but my brain protests so

her world ***** me in
funnels me willingly down
lifting the tubs drain
cleansed again by her sweet sweat
dripping on our bathroom floor

meandering dreams
weaving thoughts circling you
excited to wake

radiant jewels
captivating long gazes
mesmerizing me

Sliding on water riding as
Earth beats in motion gliding
Guiding bodies in glistening oceans
In emerald green dreams and
wild eyed notions

rooster crows anew
from the empty lot next door
strutting around trash
he has pecked over before
with nothing better to do

it's been a tidal ebb and flow
moments of bliss then the lows follow
I long and pray for the lake days
the general ease of the lake malaise
something said for the lake life
less current and less strife
Now we are in the open ocean
rogue waves and that washer motion
better plot our course and to it we stick
slip into a safe harbor, with wounds to lick
The boats been rocking on this voyage
thank god we have each other in this turbulent age

Peace in a thousand notes
Heard as one,  struck as one
The single chord of the heart

Winded to the top
Mist filled mountain, chilled
The burning jnside

when life pulls the rug
falling certainly harder
enjoy solid ground
as long as you may have
for it's never that way long
