"omi" poems
A poem for my beloved grandmother, Omi A beautiful heart brought across on the gliders, Forced away by Red pride, the awful black spiders. She cried cross oceans in Grandpa’s camo embrace, Safely gone from the 30’s, and end to the chase, *“Zese mountains vere safe, Deutschland re-pborn. Ve vere ‘ere vhen this town bekan, Cyril.”* Omi’s voice pauses, marred by our Western smog, Christmas we sit at her feet and her eyes again fog. This story we hear, we’ve heard, but it is not cheap, Our roots are revealed and we cringe as Omi weeps, *“I vont drive, no and I can not vote, Pbut this landt is safe, Cyril ve are free!”* As her amber eyes ripple, it’s now time, we know, This country she loves, yet it’s pain the more so. The airs tightens thickly as we wait the remark, The blame she gives freely makes this land so dark, *“Bobby diedt and Monica followedt. Cyril, I bpuried my childt and ‘ushband here”* It wasn’t the Cancer or Smoke in their lungs, This country she blames and it’s pitch-forked tongues. So we hug to apologize for ‘ol Uncle Sam, Not ****** but Freedom she says poisons this land.

America the Free
I have all the reasons to believe, All the evidence to give, That Faith of all after Eve, Came to my soul to live, To hold my hand to the wedding eve. A women from  another mother, Assumes her class for this poor thing, Whose several proposals have yielded nothing, Perharps for poor presentation, And presumably doubts of my being. The pics you sent me the other time, I find my eyes gazing at them more often, Whenever you call or I do, Learns soul and body gets alert, ******** not to forget. How you start a conversation, Always with a calm noncholant voice, Makes my thalamus restructure its pitch, Just to make my vocals present a fair draft, All in a bid to impress my one in a million. That birthday surprise, Left me mouth agape, The concern and commitment   in your voice, Have made me harden my stand, And declare a love sentence . The later promise, To me equals a nightmare , Like a Christian to rapture tale, My being awaits affirmation, Of your mouth watering promises. I love it when you say, "Omi chonjo" Its a reassurance, That liberates my heart , From fear of losing its queen.

FAITH MY LOVE.
Sighing deeply into Omi’s embrace Like a thimble replaced in a sewing kit, Her permanent warmth that can’t be erased. A doily made of cream coloured lace, Her set of values is tightly knit, Sighing deeply into Omi’s embrace. She makes extra stroganoff, just in case, Then, whole-house clean-up, “Lickety-split!” Her permanent warmth that can’t be erased. My sister and I in a hiding place, And nothing of our plums left but the pit. Sighing deeply into Omi’s embrace. The whole rainbow neatly interlaced, In Omi’s garden, her butterflies flit, Her permanent warmth that can’t be erased. That pair of blue sweat pants we couldn’t replace Because no other pair will ever quite fit. Sighing deeply into Omi’s embrace, Her permanent warmth that can’t be erased.

Omi's Song
The days of your infantry Where all things were always the same When all eyes were always on you; Your days when you ****** from the bulging ******* of your mama, Your days when your glorious promises Glittered like gold and diamond Your days of joyous innocence are long Gone. You became of age Your strengths and might Threaten your mama, Your Papa couldn't stand your stubbornness Your friends had to leave, You're now call Orisa Ebora ti n fi eje s'omi mu. Whenever your mama question your arrogance You turn the road down-upside Up the fairy flame of fire She was roasted alive while we all stood and watched We could not even grace her a goodbye party Then your Papa died a horrible death They said Sanponna struck him, Some said it was Ayilala. Bode Saadu, Ogun, Eesu, Pleaded on our behalf Yet, you remained unquestioningly wicked; When you are happy and you want us to rejoice With you, Your banquet is hosted in the village square Where sun is the special guest of honour The lid of the pit of hell is uncovered And the demons would pour out with aprons on their necks: The event is never much different -Down the tankers, Up the fairy flames of fire - Now, your days are grey Still, your rage is same You know no forgiveness You have no compassion At dawn, the children called you orphan At dusk, they were roasted like your mama Everyday we wake with the fear of the unknown Yet, we cannot stop paying our homage at the Cemetery near your play ground. We groan in the chains tied around our necks And in our agony, we hope that someday, maybe Your evil days will pass. But, for now we call you Bode Saadu, The land of the unknown god.

Here I stand Toes in your cold, vast forever Your soothing crescendos Mask my fear That your infinite skirts Could swallow me up Amidst your churning strength For the first time I understand your fierce love And can open My eyes to let my own Heart gush forth salty and Streaming down my face. My sister, strong Endless mother, Ancestor, progenitor Always spinning one, Mother of the beautiful swimming schools Wife of mysteries. Iya Mother Mystery Queen I find you in my Grandmother's stern love My sister's crying eyes Your children's strength And my own will to love. May I float In your foam-topped cradle Sheltered from the storm Within me until I no longer Fear the smashing of your Waves that echo My own restless heart. Omi O! Adupe Yemoja

Eyin Omo okun Esin" "Won ma sare kabakaba" "Mo wi re, tabitha mi o wi re?" "Amotekun deeeeeee" We will block the gap and protect all and sundry We'll patrol with Eagle eyes It shall be "No nonsense here" in our region With robust intelligence gathering and network And we will proceed with extreme caution Within the ambits of the law shall we operate There shall be no sleep for the wicked Peace, it has long eluded our lands We have been invaded by uncircumcised Philistines But not anymore, "O to geeee" Who else knows our terrain better than our locals You got a pass mark my Governors And I am proud to be "Ofe mmanu"" "Ejo, ema je wo ni owo osu oh!" Lest they begin to see friends as foes "Amotekun de...Oju eje...." "Iyalaya gbogbo won" "Koni kaluku di omo Iya re mu.." "A ko fosi rara nile Odua" "Awi fun won ti ti, won jo gbo" Odua a gbewa ooo. "Oya, awon daaa? Gbefunwon kososhi" Why carry guns when we can enchant them? We have been pushed to the wall Our hands on the plough, no going back "This one no be se re se re" "Omoluabi is a talk and do" We stoop and let them trample on us" Little do they know we are fooling the fools Those who thinks they are fooling us Watch it, we can be cunning and deceitful But when it comes to our collective goal The bond that binds us strong And our walls, a mighty fortress In a nutshell, "Ki eku ile gbo o" "Ko si so fun to ojo oh" We are regional and not tribal We will listen before we judge We will treat all fairly as our ancestors did We will not allow the "Cobra Effect" permeate Amotekun This, we all know, is peace at last! Passing Amotekun bill is a legislative masterstroke For all who saw this to fruition May "Eledumare" grant you all your "positive" heart desires "Mo wi re, tabi mi o wi re bi" Amotekun deeee"
