Have you ever been in the exact moment
You wish never to forget?
I am there now
Right now.
Surrounded by friends, lovers, dreamers
In a small bar in Shimokitazawa

My partners, my potential partners, my fwb
All in one space enjoying the evening together

I am someone today

We are sharing true stories
Important moments of our lives

I want to kiss everyone
Instead, I love everyone
And wrap them up in my mind
Life is worth living today

Safana gari ne...
Safana gari ne...
Safana gari ne...

Safana gari ne
Na tabbata zan kwana cikin sa
Ba bu yadda za ai na barshi don
Ya zamo mahalli na...
Born into a dark night village
Crawl disgustingly around the wood
Flame glowing with annoyance
Bowed by pained face of cruel looks
Swings back, front, sideways
No laughter but doom weather
Hopelessness after others before

Questions abound in grim faces
Will this be different or more of the same?
Kids run around innocently in frenzy welcome
Into their world of despair and pain
Laughter for the sake of hopelessness
Big brother arrives and name attractive
‘Been to'  ‘go bring am hope' the mother wimps

Papa and mama wonder about ‘morrow
Hopelessness must be conquered
No more pain, no more sorrow
School three miles in crushing sun
‘Gari' and groundnut in pockets
Danger lurking in the corner
But the storm inspires for ‘morrow

The journey seems long but hope not far
When all rewind from the past of yore
Triggered by that which was said of old
Hope replaces despair and bitter, sweet
It wont be long my brother
Try hard folk and don't miss the price
The pain is deep but the gain is here.

This was meant to be a haibun. After the
first sentence, I folded the list of rules into a sparrow.                   I go for a walk,
pass by the place where people write haiku
and roll juxtaposition into irony
as they eat their meals with the wrong
ends of their chopsticks.

he lifts gari with his left hand—
a slot machine jangles

A patron’s nearly full dish of wasabi sits amongst sushi platters that, except
for the left behind rice-explosions,
have been emptied. Around the corner,
a shaman stands near the clocktower
where the grass has died from a winter’s salting. The shadow of a ginkgo leaf flutters on his face like the wings of Buson’s moth. I want to turn off all the lights so that it can see.

The systems are broken. ****. The systems are failing.

Further up Beverly St., an autistic boy
plays with Lego on a front porch. I try to remember his true name, and hope that
he can help break down the foundations, raindance his mind around the blocks’
angles and lines to solve an equation with a variable that is the shaman understanding
why the boy pretends to not see us.

Turn off the lights so that we can see.

Being my own worst critic, I'm offering myself some love in tinkering and modifying. I need to reformat pieces as the original formatting can't be replicated here.
went online today
saw some really romantic poems
it got me soft inside and hard outside
then i start
how could she?
what was she thinking?
she i old enough to choose right, must be stupid
was it love? am sure the bulged stomach
its a ball full of regrets
want to write nice but truth must be told
you play with fire only when you want to burn
I KNOW WHAT YOU ALL ARE THINKING
fooling ourselves with the story of the girl
that ate soaked gari with mango
hear out b4 assumptions
