"esu" poems
The creator of the universe
Our whole existence
Our tradition and way of life
The beginning and the end
The divination and religion
Of our people
Odu Ifa our literary corpus
The grand priest of Ifa
The mantle of Olodumare
The builder of the Ifa Oracle
Ile-Ife your city of abode
Orunmila,
Orirun ile Yoruba
The master of Aseda and Akoda
The Aalafin of Yoruba land
The Ooni of the Yoruba mantle
Our spiritual system of existence
Orunmila,
The supreme being
The Orisa of all orisas
Esu bows at your feet
Obatala trembles at your voice
Ogun makes an obeisance at your sight
Osun lays down at your coming
Yemonja proclaims your might
The divination of Ifa
The prophecy of the Yoruba heritage
The founder of earthly beings
The Ese Ifa
Orunmila
The principal Odu

Last night was for Linda Crige chanting of love excitement that wakes the sleeping forest.
Six rounds ***
What is my concern?
Nevertheless, uncle is back with Mercy Bukas. Tonight I shall spy through the keyhole.
But it was not like yesterday, my eye greeted the ***** of the moment with the intensity of the sun.
The night was for conversation! for conversation!
"I am pregnant this is the test result, four month and two weeks." Voice seized from close range. My eye gazed uncle's mind, though it was misty.
This must be emblematic of joy I inferred. Pandemonium broke out and silenced the smiling breeze, argument ravaged the air. Uncle denied "It is for Danjuma"
Not a muttered curse from the two sides. Ogun and Sango did not awake from their tranquil sleep regardless but Esu was at work. Their curse appalled my heart not once. "Who is at home to settle the rage"
but rather the awaken forest was matching closer. "I never promise to marry you" uncle glued my ears with his voice of wiles. Chapter closed.
Alas, a child will be born, head for uncle, dark-skinned as Danjuma, others for Alien.
An unfortunate child will be born by a promiscuous mother to licentious father only if not a descendant of sewage.
Ogun: god if iron
Sango: god of thunder
Esu: Yoruba name for satan

Bara roams our streets
The ubiquitous grins
Vultures circles our skies
Our land painted in reds
The Folly laughs
Bara,
Okunrin kukuru, Okunrin gogoro
Okunrin peke bi ori atana
Esu abani woran bi a orida
A yi kondu seyin eleyin
O soro ana di moran
Koju ti mo.
Bara Visits
Our water, turned sour
His moist hands, he dips in our meal
Down he gulps our share
Hungry he leaves us.
Egunugun keeps watch
Praying to Bara for more
Orisanla, wisdom we pray for
To navigate through these tough times
For Bara has come to stay.

— "That great abyss that exists between loving and imagining that one loves." -@Esu Emmanuel
the most hopeful wish we store
in satin-boxed hearts
is the unquenchable bliss
that longing will flourish
into staying, that cravings
will reach beyond passion's
momentary caress nestling
into late latte mornings
where his hand fills the contour
of your safekeeping
& sincerity collects upon
tongues soaking skin
in the stillness
of velveteen rain
Happy Valentine's Day 💕

GOOD MORNING. DEVIL
Your eyes you close oh saucy sun
You oceans our first sons are gone with you
The frith we called our abode
Its the patheon of the seven headed viper
The morning comes with tearful noise
Hands journeyed to north, and legs to south
Heads rolls from the cut of an invisible axe
Its the death of devoted worshippers
What path have we troden?
Who called our master an impotent?
Where is the entrance to the forgone shrine?
We are mortals
Who believes in our immortals
In Our finest robe we danced to their dirge
We have God but seeks gods
We have chosen this path, and forever we will be theirs
Esu bear us witness, we rejoiced when you descended
But in the ides of march
In your house we paid tributes
But here we are with tribulations
Today of all days
You sit with your neck to the sky
Staring at us, with palms on cheeks
Your chains we pulled
Our hearts is free of palm-oil
Give us peace we clamor
Your gold we want not
Give us joy, you decline
Though, you are not a god to serve everyday
But your praises we will sing all day
Good morning

Sleep well my beloveth
Sleep well my heart
You tarried away
Your ancestors calleth
The casualties were many
Yours was deep
The funeral songs
It overwhelmed my heart
Esu Lalu looted
He stole my precious heart
The drums of your demise
Your children screams in sadness
I sit under the tree
Our mahogany tree
I weep at your grave
Without you
Life ceaseth
And sorrow departed me not
Esu Lalu
Why take my bride into the dark quarters?
Esu Lalu
And I begged you
Esu Lalu
You failed me
The little one
Misses the suckling of her mother's breast
I want to tarry to my beloved
Esu Lalu take me to my beloveth
She awaits my coming
I must tarry to her
Esu Lalu
I was glad when you gave her to me
Esu Lalu
I must
Esu Lalu
I must tarry to her tonight
Esu Lalu
She is my beloved
Are you coming Esu Lalu?
When should I expect your arrival?
My beloveth awaits my coming
Esu Lalu take me now
Esu Lalu
Don't leave me in the lurch
Aya mi owon
I am coming
Esu Lalu will bring me to you
Esu Lalu I await your arrival

-Ar nori pasivaikščioti kartu su manimi miške?
-Gerai.
Smaragdo žiežirbom pasipuošusi žolė kutena kojas
O medžiai virš galvos patyliukais apšnekinėja mus
O vis dėl to graži ta srauni upė
Nors ją matau ne pirmus metus
-Ar nori kartu nueiti į kiną?
-Gerai.
Takelis eina tiesiai link miesto pakraščio
O naktį veidus apšviečia premjeros reklama
Filmai nauji, jų išleidžiama be galo daug
O pokalbių temos nesikeičia
-Galim į restoraną nueiti kartu?
-Gerai.
O sakyk, ar ryžiai nuo mėsos skiriasi?
Tiesa, skonis kitoks ir aroma kita
Tačiau aš sėdžiu su tavimi ir mėgaujuosi kompanija
Kažkaip nepabosta man ši rutina
-Eime?
-Eime.
-Dviese?
-Dviese.
-Ačiū.
-Nėra už ką, nes su tavimi esu ir būsiu visada.
