We dream inside of black boxes and paper locked words
Realms we believe to envision the messages we have heard
From beyond or around us, no matter the muse that speaks
We try with strings and effects to deliver the magic we need
Unable to capture a true creator's glory
We are only capable of reflecting imitated stories
We cry and yearn to be like the Gods
Instead of having the wisdom of knowing our true spot
Become the being that you are, without acting like you're more
Thus ascend the chrysalis you remain to explore
Each of us a creek, a vein, a stream, a river
Connected to an ocean of energy that flows on forever and ever
From root to limb a tree will reach
A learned lesson they continue to teach
Naysayers spin and spin.....and spin and spin
Drawing perplexing circles, with never a win

Hold on to your dreams. Protect them and do not forget them.

"Aren't you going to write something today martin?"
-No shut up-
"You really ought to you know."
-Why? I don't have to write something every day. Anyway, who are you?-
"I'm your muse."
-Well it's your job then. Come on, 'a'muse me ha ha.  I'm waiting. Cough up or shut up.-

"Don't you think you're being slightly unreasonable? As your muse I can give you an idea but you have to run with it. I don't present it as a fait accompli do I?   So now, how about a limerick?"
-Go on then-
"What do you mean go on then? What's on your mind today?  The sea, the stars, the sky, outer space?"
-Just you at the moment muse.  Ok, just listen to this then leave me alone.-

My useless excuse for a muse
Is hardly the one I would choose
                   He isn't much cop
                   He argues a lot
And when asked to perform will refuse

"Mmm...not your best but...I knew there was something in there waiting to come out. Just needed a little **** didn't it?
-Mess off muse, or I'll give you a little ****.-
"Bye, see you tomorrow. Perhaps you'll be in a better mood."

The chards rising.  Am I the praying bird?
In the gleaming sun my bones are negative,
My flesh a cypher walking through the plains
As ghost I move, my dark lord, above me
Flocks swirl and spike. I stand accused,
Your pointed face divining oblivion,
And no redemption in the rains of my
Cliff walk days.

I see my shroud pinning on the wires
His legs are razored forks spinning my
Compass from True North. Your dark brush-
Fire wings, the swept wind, wheels and strings
My fate. Such black rhetoric in a burn,
Your caws, loosed perches, on the stakes, picks
My crowning grave. Black dove, your feathers finger
As they slice.

Smoke, the cardinal blood caries my teething
Bone, spades my hand without a flight.
Taut, the pulled noose my hooded one
I see my scarecrow’s reflexion, the scar,
Let blood, the seeded droppings end trailed
To my door. Feathers, ferry to carry on
Dowsing downward, black knight of down, to sticks
On extended wings.
You knew I didn't care,
I never could.

Forcing a cold heart
To feel human warmth,
And you never did.

Willing your fingers
Through my ribs,
Hoping to feel a pulse,
Warmth,
Love,
Life.

We knew it just couldn't be.
Without you, my heart,
Sun is bleeding as it falls,
New moon is broken.
you would write me a love poem
erase depressive doubt
declare essential worth

sublime is your intention
earnest hopeful knight
yet only I can bring my poem to life
