It's irksome how we claim
people like landmasses.
"He's mine."
"She's mine."

Now all you need is a
"Private Property" sign!

He asked to see my words
Joy in unexpected interest
But to share a glimpse inside the emptiness
The truth I've hidden for years
The fact that my feelings lay bare in ink
Though no longer reside in my soul

He asked to see my words
Answers to unasked questions
The truth of my daily struggle
The demons dancing within
The reason my heart is dessicated
The shame of my reality

He asked to see my words
To learn I do not trust
To see the dark prevail
So different from what I show
Frightened to lose someone else
Someone I dared to pretend to love

He asked to see my words
Hidden within is truth
The fact I try to no avail
That I only betray myself
To risk a loss of one so dear
There will be no recovery from nonacceptance

He asked to see my words

The wood is rough against his skin
As he anchors himself down
There’s a full moon rising in the sky
He must protect his little town

He feels the change down to his core
And tries not to cry out
But when the rope digs into his skin
A snarl is brought about

Sweat breaks out over his body
And he writhes in agony
The beast inside, fights to the surface
Longing for total insanity

Bones break, muscles stretch
But this is not for the first time
Nor the last, for the cycle will go on
Till someone puts an end to his crime

The rope snaps and he falls to all four
Gasping to catch his breath
The panic sets in as his vision blurs
And he senses the grip of death

Then just as quick as it came
The pain is gone again
And in his place is left a wolf
With eyes full of sin
Whose afraid of the big bad wolf?

Yes, I am a Woman
But I am much more than that
I am more than thighs and hips
I have dreams and ambition
Not a slave for your kicks

Yes, I am a Woman
I am not a trophy to be won
Not a game to be played
I am a human being
Do not drag me through this charade

Yes, we are Women
And we come in all shapes and sizes
We are your Mothers, Sisters, Friends, and Wives
We are your equals
Do not subject us to lies

Yes, we are Women
Living in an unfair world
Striving for an impossible image
KIlling ourselves in the name of perfection
All too often, becoming a percentage

Yes, we are Women
And we know how it should be
You should treat us with respect
Love, care, and dignity
Do not grow angry when we are not what you expect

Yes, we are Women
And we will slowly rise above
And I wish it would end tonight
But the truth of the matter is
We will always be looked down on from sight

We are Women, hear us roar
Remember,
You are the captain of your fate,
you are the master of your soul

In this forsaken
This land of the taken
These memories shaken
Why have I awakened?

The time has come now
For you all to bow down
To the new leader now
Will this be allowed?

We hungry and lonely
The ****** and the lowly
Forced to worship the holy
The one and the only

This god who forbade us
Who made us and changed us

Is it just me
Who is dying to see
What it means to be free
To choose what to believe

Will someone explain
If in this new reign
Will life be the same
Can we even blame?

The ones who allowed it
Are those who endowed it
They saw it befit
To make us commit

Now to doubt is a crime
It’s no better with time
We must rely on these rhymes
To break the confines

So in these words I impart
The plagues of my heart
So you may take part
When this order falls apart...

cozy and protective
arms of warmth
wrapped around a bundle of mess
about to self destruct

safe and sound
feelings of comfort and enjoy
wrapped inside a bundle of wonder and perfection

my wonderwall
my comfort
my security
my happiness
my lust
my everything
my sweater
