I gotta see a man about a horse
I gotta see a man about a job
I gotta see a man about a jet
Who do you gotta see
I just heard those expressions  but what do they really mean so the last one is mine
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
I have a home
You have none
I have a blanket
You have none
I have food
You have none
Let me share my home
With you
And cover you with love
And nourish you
With food
Let me give you
Shoes and an
Extra hand
To travel the road
So you won't be
So alone
I'm
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I'm
You are here for me
Whether it's day or night
Now I'm here for you
I'm
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2021
I'm
I'm. dying inside
Outside has been beaten down
Not much left to go
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Did I just imagine
Twenty four gulls
Soaring over the lake
Diving into the water
It's lonesome without
You here
Did I just imagine
The grasshopper
In the blade of grass
What about the last
Of leaves
Gracefully falling to
The ground
The red tipped wing
Of the black crow
A frost tipped leaf
In early morning
Light
Did I really see all of
These wonders
Today there are no gulls
How sad as I slowly
Walk the path
Just beginning to
Think my imagination
Was just absurdity
Suddenly a gull.came
Soaring past me
Reminding me
It is real
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2021
I'm in a trance
Listening to the
Falling rain
Counting the drops
Watching the birds
Glide in the sky
On a warm sunny day
Listening to the Crunching
Of leaves
On a crisp morning
And hanging Icicles
From the trees
Don't disturb me
I'm in a trance
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I miss my kiddos
Just giving me a purpose
To get up early
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Walking at a turtle's pace
Collecting my thoughts
Nature adorned in beauty
And telling sounds
Crackling.leaves beneath my feet resounding in prayer
An acorn falling
With a Great Amen
Animals in harmony
In such a melodious sight
Alleuiias abound throughout
With blessings
From above
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
The drone of the
Mower
Drives me
The noisy repetition
Stings me
Can't stand another
Circle go round
Of cutting of
The grass
How I long
For peace
From the blaring
Noise
But in all
The clamor
I must realize
That someone who
Is deaf
Would welcome
All that noise
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Things just got bad
Sadness centered around
Flowers drooping
Tears flowing
No sun in sight
I need a voice
I need a poem
Rambling thoughts.nothing real.
Just collected thoughts
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2021
Today I bled blue
Poems inked upon my bare arms
Await translation
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Thoughts are circling
Round my head
Like the leaves
Ready to be raked
Words are piling up
Waiting to find purpose
Otherwise they will
Crumple up
And die
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2021
Life is so precious
With all of its ups and downs
Don't let it slip by
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Ahhh it's that
Time again
Run my mouth
Run my words
Better the running
Of words
Then the mouth
Words when written
Are honey on
The tongue

Darkness fills my world
Like the murky swamp
Falling deeper and deeperl
Into the known
Lightness fills my world
Like the starlit night
Shining brighter and brighter
Into the known
Laughter fills my heart
Like the babbling brook
Bouncing smoother and smoother
Into the known
Love fills my heart
Like the universal song
Singing louder and  strong
Into the known
Hope fills my soul
Like  a heavenly beam
Shining brighter and  brighter
Into the known
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
It's  Friday the
End of my week
The end of
My song
Did I hit the
High notes
Perhaps brightening
Someone's Life
Or did I hit
Low notes
Just stay by
Myself
Was I in harmony
With the world
Or let it pass by
Did I sing.the
Right tunes
To move someone
Or just play a
Solo for me
I hope I composed
A symphony
Where everyone
Joins in
And we can all
Say Bravo
Together
Mary Anne Norton Jun 2020
The clouds are faded purple
Moisture is in the air
But the breeze so gentle
Whispers crost my cheek
Birds are flying
Squirrels tagging
Feels like it's gonna rain
Hope it pours down buckets
To water the earth
And cleanse my soul
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
The purple sky
Lit up
As a bolt of
Lightning
Tap danced across
The threatening sky
Buckets of rain
Poured from
The ominous sky
Making puddles
Of water
To form
On the ground
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2021
Clothes flapping In
The breeze
Wisps of grass
And flowers too
Dancing in the rhythm
Leaves a spinning
Wind's  a whistling
Papers flyin bout
Hairs a blowing
Flags are furling
What a busy sight
Hold on tight
But not too tight
The wind is
Coming through
Went to the park today. Felt and saw the
excitement of the wind.

Another virtual television
Sunday Mass
No priest choir more importantly
No  Holy Communion
Under the Species.of
Bread and Wine
Where is the offertory
The priest.offers Bread and Wine
Singing.and Prayers
I miss the quiet moments
Where God and I converse
This reminds me
Of childhood Mass
Where.ourAltar
A cardboard box was covered
With a sheet or towel
Grape juice and a piece
Of toast made circular
By my mom
One.brother was the priest
While two were servers
My sisters and I were
The congregation
Though both give offerings to God
There's  nothing like going
To the real celebration
Of Mass where we celebrate
Our Lord
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Darkness is falling
Time to settle down
Words won't let me
How do you cover
Up words
Waiting to be
Exposed
Hide the
Paper
Toss the
Pen
Turn off
The light and
Say
AMEN
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2022
So quiet out
Can hear my
Breath
With each step
I take
Loneliness all around
Only the howling
Of the wind
Reminding me of
Winter's Song
Time to go
Back in
To warm my hands
And frozen heart
Waiting for the
Sun to melt
My frozen blues
Away
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2022
You reach out
Your scarred hand
Nailed to a Cross
For me to touch
To hold
To remember
Lest I forget
Your words through
Parched , bleeding lips
"I commented my Spirit"
Let me touch you
Let me hear you
You are my Life line
Keep me afloat
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
It was just a poem
Gathered from all of your thoughts
Now it's a story
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I've been broken
I've been whole
I've been.robbed
I've been full
Sleepy
Awake
Happy
Sad
Grateful
Thankless
Bad and
Good
Hot
Cold
Full of song
Full of woe
Invited in
Or not
At all
But all I
Know
And all I
Can say
That I've been blest
With
Another day
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2022
I looked out the door
And just peeked out the Window
Just for a no show
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2021
I want to reach the
Midnight sky
Pull a star down
To put in my room
To lighten up
The darkness
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2021
I write of sun and birds
And sky
That's all
I see
I write of people and tears
And joy
That's all
I feel
I write of hot chocolate and tea
And bread
That's all I  taste
I write of shouting and screaming
And laughter
That's all
I hear
I write of what I see
Real or imagined

Mary Anne Norton Nov 2021
Baby boy is born
Were you expecting a King
And to bring justice
Was His crown golden
And with diamonds all around
No our thorns near by
Double Haiku for Advent
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Crowds gather around
If Jesus were here today
Would He wear a mask
Thick in a debate
What would His wording be like
How calm.would He stay
My friend who has cerebral palsy.was
Telling me  about Jesus.preaching
To the crowds.we were talking about
Jesus wearing a mask what about the disciples and what about the crowds
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Let me be the first
And also the very last
Just to give You praise
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Just walk all over me
Leaving your *****
Footprints behind
For me to clean up
Breaking my heart
And scattering the
Pieces all around
For me to pick
Up after
Tearing me apart
Piece by piece
Till only crumbs
Of humanity
Are left
Too broken to
Even piece together
All the kings horses
And all the kingsmen
written after someone told their story
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
Just thinking of when
Life seemed so much easier
Are those moments gone
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2021
Today some will breathe
A new breath in
And others
Anew breathe out
Breathe in
Breathe out
Breathe in a new day
Of fresh beginnings
And possibilities
Look all around
Under rocks where
Insects hide
And up above
Where stars twinkle
In the Night
At the water
That ripples at
The breath of wind
At trees with
Open arms
And people to
Love
Even those we
Don't even know
And as we breathe
Our last
May it be filled
Only with
Blessed memories
And hopefully surrounded
By those we love
If that isn't possible
May love be
Remembered
As we prepare
For the
Journey ahead
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
We all need a friend
Like Curious George
One who will
Take our hand
And keep us
Out of trouble
Do you have
The man with
The yellow hat
In your Life
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
Fishing for dinner
Or just fishing for a line
Something has to give
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
Hanging on with
A fisherman's thread
Barely enough to
Keep me hanging on
Perhaps I won't.
Let go
As I sink deeper and
Deeper
If I cling tight enough
I can pull through
And carry on
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Coming from a
Morning walk
I saw you.
I don't even
Know you
But you looked
In your empty
Mailbox
Shook.your head
And shrugged
Your shoulders
Were you. Looking
For a special letter
One that lovers
Only send
Were you hoping
To hear from
A family member
Or were you
Just hoping even
To see advertisements
To remind you
You weren't alone
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Words racing through
My cluttered mind
Past moons of light
And galaxies of stars
Oceans crashing by
Songs sung before
Grasses dancing
In the breeze
Cats crawling softly
Between my legs
Dogs with their
Head in my lap
Words playing cat
And mouse
My eyes growing
Weary
My thoughts
Caving in
Just one more
Verse before
I tuck in
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2021
Running
Always Running
It seems
No destination
Just Running
Through the wilderness
Tripping over dreams
Around the corner
Over the bend
Jumping hurdles
Landing on unreached
Plans and destinations
Just Running
Running to
Running from
Just running
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Night time is near
Chasing the sunlight
Away
Birds in their nests
Geese flying high
Children heading home
Stores getting ready
To close
Street lights on
Noise a bit
Lighter
And for me
I'm just a settlin
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
share your beach
With ocean waves
Unfurling
Warm speckled sand
A seagull or two
Share your jungle
Loud noises filling
The air
Monkies swinging branch
To branch
Share your desert
A cactus green and
Scorching heat
The deep blue sea
And all her fish
And the sky so
Full of stars
But mostly share yourself
With no one but me
My dearest friend
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Time to stop thinking
And just put all thoughts to rest
Tomorrow is near
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2021
Crumbs on my napkin
Surround my thoughts and my dreams
In the trash you go
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Tic toc  tic toc
My thoughts
Back and forth
Travel around my
Clouded mind
How will they surface
Or are they
Ready for another
Go round
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Thoughts switching
Off and on
From darkness to light
Light to dark
Stumbling to grab
Paper and pen
Before the words
Disappear
Into an  empty heart
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Woke up tired
From worrying
Heartbreaks of others
Wears youdown
Continued tired
From worrying
Malice words
Across the screen
Staying tired
Of sickness
All around
Can't change everything
So I guess I'll
Go to sleep
Or wake up
And help out
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
I grabbed my pen
Ready for something
To come out
The ink is dry
So are my words
The paper *** tossed
Clumsily upon the others
Perhaps I should wait
For ink to flow
And paper to mark
