And I'll  wait
For you
In the fluttering
Of butterfly wings
A symphony
Of birds
Deer that  walk
Upon your grave
Laughter Echoing
All about
And a handkerchief
In your pocket
Stolen dreams
Buses to catch
Recipes to share
Books to talk about
Kisses and hugs
Tears and laughter
Love to go around
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2021
Watching children skipping
Rocks
Playing ball , running fast
Laughing out loud
Watching the sun
Petting a dog,
Chasing a cat
Holding  tight to
Momma's hand
Did this happen
To me
Or while Watching
Did I just imagine
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Unless we wear masks
How can the world get better
When it.is so sick
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2021
So tranquil the night
The moon still winking
As stars shine bright
Planets in alignment
The milky way too
Everything in favor
Wish upon a star
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
What will the children
Do for Halloween
This year
They already have
Their mask
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Penning words perhaps
Never meant to
Be written
Disappear when a phone call
Erases my thoughts
Perhaps they weren't meant
To be there
In the first place
But let me hang up
So I can try again
Oh words don't put
me on hold
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Just waiting for words
Only the right ones to say
I need some paper
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2021
You that I pray for
In the darkness of my room
And the star lit sky

Words don't take a rest
Rushing through your mind
Wanting to let go
Feelings bursting with
Newfound energy
Waiting to be released
To the unsuspecting world
Captivating  charming
Saddened words
Wanting a place
To land
But first they must
Be birthed
Happy Labor Day Do something good for yourself today share with family and friends Don't  think of work but you and yours
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Sweeping leaves day
After rain
Imprint of leave
On sidewalk
Got me to thinking
Will I leave an
Imprint
Has my life been
Strong enough
Did I pray enough
Live out my prayer
Was i kind
Did I help others out
Or pass them by
Did I make opportunities
To be of help
Have I sung songs
Of happiness and
Love to reach myself
And others
Read good things
To share
Embraced others
Listened with
My heart
Did I do enough
To be a part
Of life
What will I leave
Behind
An imprint
Or a washout
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
My coworker left
An extra napkin
On the table
For me
Perhaps that is
The best thing
She could have
Done
As I picked
Up my pen
And began
Writing
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
Food on a laced cloth
Intricate cover
Spills of gravy
Stains of cranberry
Crumbs of leftover
Pumpkin pie
But amidst it all
The remaining gift
Of laughter
Left to stay
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2021
Snow brushes off
Your navy blue coat
Leaving a wet
Surface behind
The black dog
Shaking off snow
Dripping ***** puddles
On the floor
Your shiny brown
Hair
With white covered specks
Makes you look
Momentarily old
Till you towel dry the
White and wet hair
Let it snow let it snow
Let it snow
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
feel like the dog
Who chewed his
Master's shoe
Needing a place
To hide
Or  Jack the
Giant Killer hiding
From the Giant
Or A big tree
To keep me hid
In Hiding Go Seek
A car to hide behind
So no one sees me
A branch to climb
No one can
Reach me
I just need
To hide
Where no one
Can find me
Cuz i just
Want to be
Left Alone
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
Open up your heart
Let all struggles
Pass you by
Count them one
By one
Let them go
Marching on by
Get the angst out
.And move on
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
My visiting the library
A shelvers' nightmare
Thumbed through books
Painstakingly sought out
Piles of books
Circled around the table
Waiting for their place
In numerical order
Oh what joy they brought
Such knowledge to me
My hands blackened
From the print
Tough decision to make
Which ones to leave behind
Perhaps a dog-eared page
Will lead me to my find

How short is Life
A baby's breath away
The span of a rainbow
The end to a Prayer
How long is Life
A Stone's throw away
A crack in the sidewalk
Pinocchio 's nose
How deep is Life
The depth of a paper cut
Twelve feet of water
A Religious novel
How sweet is life
A family full of love
Chocolate filled with nuts
The purring of a cat
How sad is life
Alife that had no chance
Innocent behind bars
Reactions to diabetes and crimes
Whether short or long sweet or sad
We are.on hallowed ground.
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
Walks in the morning dew
Balloons held tightly
Warmth of sun
And wind tossed hair
A purring kitten
Gently near
Of course a book
Or even two
The wonder of children
Passing through
Gathering with family
In sickness and in health
Doing worship
With all you've got
Taking in the sad
With the glad
What will you
Take with you
And what will you
Leave behind
You shall not pass
This way again
So let the
Son shine through
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
Life like the sunshine
just bringing a ray of hope
Right after the storm
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2021
Life is all around
Skies above and earth below
Blessings in between
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You struggle each day
To get out of bed
Clothes tingle cross
Your spine
And with pain
Look at your
Laid out choices
Of shoes
Blue denim sneakers
Or rosy red
Flats
With little help
You grab the arm
Of your wheel chair
And sit down
You roll to the window
And view the weather
Satisfied you
Head  for coffee
And a bite of toast
Breakfast over ready to go
You put your mask on
Your ride is
Here
No matter the pay
No matter the weather
You happily
Go to work
Joining others in pain
But no complaining
You have a job
To do
And you do it
Well
You are part of society
And proud
Of it
Dedicated to  Life
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Life means so much
Animals people flowers
All serve a purpose
Animals guide the blind
People helping each other
Flowers for beauty
And scent
Life is a Miracle
To experience
Ready or not
Here i come
Mary Anne Norton Jul 2020
Youd.think after all these painful
Empty years it would change
Time passed, some things changed or so I thought
I.found your hidden scarves too
Painful to deal with
Tide won't wash.out memories
Of your beautiful smile  and laughter
Let me.wrap a part of
Around my neck
With flowered buds or red chiffon
Mary Anne Norton Jul 2020
Mary said be it done
According to your will
And the song
Of Life
Begun
Wrapping her baby
In swaddling clothes
Laying Him in a Manger
Animal breath and stench
From wet hay
Greeted the baby our King
Mary pondered this in her heart
Her child is growing
And He's preaching
While three days she's
Missing him but when found
Pondered this in her heart
Now in His thirties
His preaching is stronger
His Miracles are spreading
And she ponders this in her heart
In the garden you hear Him
Father your will be done
He is beaten and dies
And Mary remembers her
Be it done to me
Now her son's
Thy will be done
Both have echoed their
Yes to God
And the song lives
On and on
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
I need a poem
That will lift me up
Way up to the sky
Chocolates won't do it
Cookies can't compete
Feed my stomach
With food
But my heart
With your poems
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2021
Yesterday the lights
From Santa's reindeer
Twinkled in the
Grey morning light
Today as I pass by
The reindeer is gone
Till another year
Sometimes. I feel
Like my lights
Sparkle
And other times
They are dim
I should dispel
Any darkness
And let the
Light shine in
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Words go flying by
Quickly grab or
Into the atmosphere
They will flow
Catch a falling star
It will tear a hole
In your pocket
Save your words
For a rainy day
Here goes Jupiter
There goes Mars
Words can weave
A story a song
A dream
So goodnite irene
Goodnite
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Why do you
      .keep
Looking at me
When the reality
How would I know
If I weren't
Looking at you
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
So busy looking
Down
Almost didn't look.up
Would have missed
The seven deer
What else did I miss
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2021
My heart aches for you
At the loss of your daughter
Can't begin to grasp
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
Lost in space
Lost and found
Lost dog
I'm lost in
The moment
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
You disappeared from me
My pen ink paper
Worst yet my thoughts
Where did they go
Are they out wrapped
Around the moon
Is that what we see
At night
The lost words
Of poetic minds
Or blue cheese
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I thought I was lost
No signs were right before me
From nowhere you came
Sometimes an angel comes when we need them
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
I have lost
All sense
Of time
Caught in a
A web of
Nothingness
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
Lost my poetry
On written scraps of paper
Blown in the wind
Mary Anne Norton Jan 2021
Silence is

LOUD

When no words
Are spoken

Mad Hatter
Madman
MADD
The world's
Gone mad
Mad scientist
    Why can't we be

"I'm so Happy
Happy Birthday
Happy as  a Lark

So easy to be Mad
Or Happy

But in the end...
You decide
What and how
To be

A man made pool
Of water
In common ground
Where lots of geese
Can swim
Isn't it ironic
A small pool
Of water
Made from.rain
Where less geese
Can swim
And yet more
Want to try
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
It is so quiet
I can hear the chimes ringing
A magical sound
Mary Anne Norton Nov 2020
I like the
MAGIC
  ....Of
............WORDS
The sound of them
The feel of them
The flow of them
The sound of them
Forming on your tongue
Into the unsuspecting world
The feel of them
Expressing joy or sorrow
Success or failure
I like the flow of them
Bouncing around
Ready to dance
And land
If words are abused
The magic
Will.

What are you
Thinking about
As you aimlessly stir
Your coffee around
It's getting cold
You haven't taken
A sip
Pouring cream
Hoping for a
Reflection of
Your thoughts
After wincing
And a heavy sigh
You add sugar
To sweeten the
Bitterness
Of today

The moon shines brightly
Yes there's a man in the moon

Doctors and nurses
Thank you for taking the time
To help us get well
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
Her wardrobe an
Array of colors
Translucent  for each culture
Flashy colors and sequins
Pale and simple
What she wore
Didn't matter
The message was the model
Only certain people saw
And would acclaim
Mary^s beauty in
Her native dress
And tongue
Mary is our Mother
And Jesus is her Son
We worship not a statue
Nor a picture painted
On canvas
But we are reminded
Of the Mother of God
We hold gently in
Our Heart
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
Your birthday today
Is special for all of us
Mother of Jesus
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020

Watching college football.games
Where are the masked fans
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
This early morning
A Crayola box
Of one hundred
Exploded into the universe
More then one
Versions of
Pinks and yellows
Blues and purples
And oranges
What an awesome
Sight
Awaited me
As first I peeked
Through the
Slitted blinds
And upon pulling
The blinds
The Master's Peace
Appeared
What a beautiful ,morning experience , awakened me. I could not help but thank
My Lord.
Me
