Time To
Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
Time to work
Earn my keep
Time to play
Find my inner self
Time to eat
Savor the goodness
Of Nature's bounty
Time to pray
For stillness within
Time to sing
Feel good songs
Make you cry songs
Don't know the
Words songs
Time to read
To laugh and startle
And cry
Time to take trash out
Count the stars
Time to relax
Time to be
Time to go
To bed
And give thanks
Time to
Shhhh
Good night

Nature Calls
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
This morning I caught
Nature showing off
No holding back
Forest green grass
Still sparkling from
Morning dew
Geese honking hello
Snapping twigs across my path
The mist upon the water
The clouds of purple chiffon
Bright yellow flowers
Dancing in the breeze
What a sight to behold
If only we open our eyes
And feel with our heart
This morning on my walk I was blest
To experience nature at her best

I like words
The trickle down
From your mouth
Words
Look it up
You don't understand
Words
Repetitious in
Three.part harmony
Words
Hurting loving
Yes I'm breathing
Words
Creating escaping
Head for the hills
Words
Soothing comforting
Melt in your mouth
Words
Hit the highs

Words
Prayerful praising
Full of Thanksgiving

Tranguility
Mary Anne Norton Sep 2020
How peaceful outside
Gentle breezes whispering
Silently past me
There's a calm outside
As the chimes soothingly
Sing a lullabye to me
I'm attuned to their rhythmic
Repetition
As i slowly inhale  exhale
Two harks joyfully encircle
The blue cotton candied
Clouds sugar coated
In God's  grace
What a symphony
Of love I just
Engaged in
Now for the encore
A Great Amen

Mary Anne Norton Dec 2020
The cold is here
To stay
At least for
A little while
Time to grab out
My unfinished books
Books I treasure
Those begun stopped
Midway
Literary books to
Read over
Some not even
Begun
Big books
Small books
Healthy books
Religious books
Which book will
I choose
Sometimes i read
Two at a time
Just have to
Remember
Who is who
This reminds me
Time to pick
Up a book

My visiting the library
A shelvers' nightmare
Thumbed through books
Painstakingly sought out
Piles of books
Circled around the table
Waiting for their place
In numerical order
Oh what joy they brought
Such knowledge to me
My hands blackened
From the print
Tough decision to make
Which ones to leave behind
Perhaps a dog-eared page
Will lead me to my find

My cluttered mind
Past moons of light
And galaxies of stars
Oceans crashing by
Songs sung before
Grasses dancing
In the breeze
Cats crawling softly
Between my legs
Dogs with their
Head in my lap
Words playing cat
And mouse
My eyes growing
Weary
My thoughts
Caving in
Just one more

Not ready yet

Funny how silly
Little things bother you
Like whether an
E is put in your name
Or your first and middle name
Never spelt out
Do people actually
Read what you
Write for your
Documents
Maybe it sounds silly
But my name
Was spelt that way
For a special reason
And that I hold dearly
Received my new healt card. They can't
even spell my name correctly. As do drs. Pharmacists even friends co workers it does bother me do people look at what I take the time to print down. Just sayin

Mike 's robe
Mary Anne Norton Aug 2020
He wore his robe
When he was sick
He didn't have to
Tell us
He just put it on
Today ix the anniversary
Of his death
Tonight I will
Put it on
And take a magic
Carpet ride
I will.travel back in time
Where siblings bond together
Loving and yes maybe sometimes
Even fighting
He wasn't a fighting kind of guy
So not many
Playing hard with his brothers
Teasing his sisters
As he grew older.
Acting and writing
Were his song
When he no longer could drive
We went to Dr. Visits
On the bus
But we always had fun
So tonight
I will put your robe on

A.nd let you  wrap
me with your wings
in back back

To be handled
With care
just saw a box that said handle with care

Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You have your
Dances and parties
And friends
Restaurants to
Go to
Where time
Never ends
Movies to
Go to
And hold
Hands tight
Then stop
To kiss and
Say goodnight
You go where
You dress up
Or even dress down
You paint the
Town red or
You might want
Brown
I don't  need a party
Or even a dance
A movie to see
Not even
A glance
Give me some.
Paper a trash can
Near by
And a pen
Filled with
Ink before it
Gets dry
You take your
World
I'll take mine
If we don't
Agree
I'll be just fine

Wrapped in newspaper
