HP Chorus
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You have filled me
With song
Giving me words
To sing
Your words and
Poetry touch
My heart
And together
Make music
Thank you
As we all
Sing in
Harmony

Words
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
My words under
A microscopic
Lens
Viewed by the
Naked eye
Exposed to all
Who dare to
Peek
If not properly
Focused
Can be highly
Distorted

Song Of Poetry
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Poetry is a song
Of words
Striking a chord
Of gentleness
For harmony
In the soul
Words of pain
Suffered within
And birthing
The blues
Rhythmic  words
To jazz up
The day
And loving words
For soul
Poetry begins with
A song in
Your heart and
A pen in
Your hand

Rusty Thoughts
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Rust the sight
The sound
Of it
Reminding me
Of age
Well weathered
The storms
Leaving imprints
Of yesterday
Not willing
To go away
But rather to
Leave a reminder
Of a Life
Well lived

The Road Ahead
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Oh the road ahead
Can be so lonely
If we let it
To overcome
Carry a knapsack
Full of memories
Family together sharing
Special events
Letters held near
And dear
Photos of days
Gone by and
Still to come
It's  not so
Lonely
When you are
Surrounded by
Love
And covered with
Hope

Feel The Magic
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Feel the magic
Of white birds
Flying overhead
Looking like the
Dove of peace
And.leaving their calm
Transfixed by their
Soft movement
Gentle as a breeze
What a wondrous sight
To see
So much to
Take in
Grasp this fragile
Moment
Before it takes
Flight
Can't forget the birds I saw at the park people saying they never saw those birds before glad I was able to see them

A New Day
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
A New day has
Awakened  me
Twinkling stars that
Bid me good night
Have taken cover
With the moon
Waiting for my
Night's return
Until that moment
Arises
I need to honor
The time that
Has been given
To me
May i be a
Beacon of light
To those in
The dark
A source of riches
Money can't buy
Perhaps a helping
Hand
An ear to hear
Your pain
Whatever I do
Today
May I cover it
With love

You are a
Work of Art
Chiseled from
The Maker's Hand
A unique combination
Of Humanity and
Spirit
Formed in Flesh
With a spirit.
Of love
Bestowed with gifts
Only you can
Share or keep
If kept to
Self
The gift would
Die
And bare.
No fruit
It.is up to
You

Still Life
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Life seems rather
Still
No children out
Screaming
Less noise of
Barking dogs
No roaring sounds
From motorcycles
Or even yelling
Back and forth
No hurried footsteps
Or running shoes
Where are bicycles
New and old
It's quiet sometimes
Almost eerie
Will it be
Noisy again
Perhaps the noise
We heard before
Wasn't so bad
After all
There is a.  time
For.quiet
But lead me
To the
Noise

Cologne
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
We knew he had
Just left the cafeteria
Leaving the students
To finish
their breakfast
You didn't  see him
Only the scent
Left behind
Some recognized the
Scent from their
Husband's
Others  from the
Department stores
It became a guessing
Game
One volunteered to
Follow their nose
To find him
Sometimes if we
Got there
Early  enough he
Would tell us
What he wore
We had one
Sniffing him
Down the hall
Those days are
Gone he
Went to another
School
A New guy came
And with him
A new smell
But this was
Talc from
Baby's  fresh skin
Now he is
Gone
But the.memory
Of cologne
Lingers behind

Thank you God
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I thank you
God for a
Prayer i hadn't
Sent
But you answered
In ways only
You could
And you loved
Me so full
Of flaws
To put me
On the mend
And I thank
You

The Blues
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
My bank filled
With.words
From yesterday
Today a bitter
Song
Where tears were
Shed
And laughter heard
With no one
Else around
Pain cut deep
Inside my
Heart
It broke in
More then
Two
I guess the
Only good
Thing
How I can
Sing the
Blues

Earthly Kingdom
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
The earth is a
Kingdom of
Surprises
Golden leaves
And flowers that
Bloom
Silver threads sparkling
In home spun webs
Diamonds in the
Night sky
Ruby red the
Setting sun
Emerald green
The dew covered grass
Pearly white
The crescent moon
Bronze colored fields
Of whispering wheat
And we the royal
Court
Have all of
These treasures
To share

An Earthly Show
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Reds and yellows
Oranges and purples
A chorus line of
Colors
Lined along the
Street
Dancing swaying
In the wind
And for an
Encore
Dropping leaves
Scatter all
Around

You Have
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You have your
Dances and parties
And friends
Restaurants to
Go to
Where time
Never ends
Movies to
Go to
And hold
Hands tight
Then stop
To kiss and
Say goodnight
You go where
You dress up
Or even dress down
You paint the
Town red or
You might want
Brown
I don't  need a party
Or even a dance
A movie to see
Not even
A glance
Give me some.
Paper a trash can
Near by
And a pen
Filled with
Ink before it
Gets dry
You take your
World
I'll take mine
If we don't
Agree
I'll be just fine

I've been broken
I've been whole
I've been.robbed
I've been full
Sleepy
Awake
Happy
Sad
Grateful
Thankless
Bad and
Good
Hot

Full of song
Full of woe
Invited in
Or not

But all I
Know
And all I
Can say
That I've been blest

My World
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
My world.once the
Colors of the rainbow
Soft blues yellows
And purples
Butterflies lit on
Tips of daisies
Unicorns in the clouds
Kittens purring nearby
Balloons flying high
Joining the magic
Of bubbles
Calmness filtering
All around
Then you came
And darkened
My world
And took all
The sunshine

It's Friday
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
It's  Friday the
End of my week
The end of
My song
Did I hit the
High notes
Perhaps brightening
Someone's Life
Or did I hit
Low notes
Just stay by
Myself
Was I in harmony
With the world
Or let it pass by
Did I sing.the
Right tunes
To move someone
Or just play a
Solo for me
I hope I composed
A symphony
Where everyone
Joins in
And we can all
Say Bravo
Together

Stop
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
I'm trying to stop
I just have so much to do
The thoughts have to quit
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Sweeping leaves day
After rain
Imprint of leave
On sidewalk
Got me to thinking
Will I leave an
Imprint
Has my life been
Strong enough
Did I pray enough
Live out my prayer
Was i kind
Did I help others out
Or pass them by
Did I make opportunities
To be of help
Have I sung songs
Of happiness and
Love to reach myself
And others
Read good things
To share
Embraced others
Listened with
My heart
Did I do enough
To be a part
Of life
What will I leave
Behind
An imprint
Or a washout

Oh sun and moon
How far from
Me you are
But you my
Friends
Are my constant
Source of delight
You warm me up
When I am cold
And light my
Way at night
Your colors change
As do my moods
Even when I leave
You always return
Perhaps waiting for
Me
Too bad you are
So far away
To grasp you
But then you
Might disappear
Into the waiting
Sky

Trust
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You were suppose to
Shine in the dark
So I hurried to
The door to turn
Off the light
And in the darkness
I fell
Reminds me that
I was suppose to
Trust you with
Open arms
I came and
I fell
Sometimes you put too much
Trust in objects or people

Life
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
You struggle each day
To get out of bed
Clothes tingle cross
Your spine
And with pain
Look at your
Laid out choices
Of shoes
Blue denim sneakers
Or rosy red
Flats
With little help
You grab the arm
Of your wheel chair
And sit down
You roll to the window
And view the weather
Satisfied you
Head  for coffee
And a bite of toast
Breakfast over ready to go
You put your mask on
Your ride is
Here
No matter the pay
No matter the weather
You happily
Go to work
Joining others in pain
But no complaining
You have a job
To do
And you do it
Well
You are part of society
And proud
Of it
Dedicated to  Life

Sticks and stones
Will break my
Bones but names will
Never hurt me
But they will
And they do
How often have we hidden
Behind those words
And if words don't
Hurt
Why can't they
Be nice words
Loving words
I'll build you up
Not knock you down
Words
Let's take those
Sticks and stones
And build a chapel
Rather than a
Crypt

For Those
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
For those who.have
Been torn apart
From brutal words
Broken into pieces
By crimes of hate
Laughed at
Because of economic
Or religious state
Left alone for
No reason
Stayed away for
Fear
Of being laughed at
Or even rejected
May you find sun
In your days
To warm you
And take away
The pain
Hope a loving soul
Will find you
And give you a
Gentle kiss and
Strong embrace
But better yet
Let you know
That you are
Specially designed

Bittersweet memories
Mary Anne Norton Oct 2020
Finding your scarves
A bittersweet treasure
For me
I say a prayer
Gently caressing
Each one
Memories burning in
My heart
Each one tells
A story
Small white dots
On irish green background
For st. Patrick's Day
Christmas time and
Visits at the hospital
To see my brother
Dark purples and blues
Floral pattern
Made just for
Rainy days
Deep purples and blues
Warm for winter chill
Light pinks and blues
Soft gainst your face
Hiding a breeze
Or two
Red flowers not
Too bold
For Valentines
And special days
You looked so
Pretty in
What ever you chose
Because of your
Beauty inside
How I miss seeing
These on your
Neck
Knowing that you
Are in Heaven
But with these
Scarves so
Wonderfully worn
You touched so
Many on earth
I touch them now
And think of you
And smile and
Say thank you
Amen
Just found a small collection
Of my Mom's scarves and let tears and memories flow
