After all the tears

A broken mess

Fairy Tales  Ferdinand
Mike the Steam Shovel
Madeline Good Night Moon
And so many more
The pictures  the rhythm
These books lift me up
Put a smile on my face
Thinking of my mom
Or dad sharing a story with me
These books were the mortar
For my foundation of reading
And building my own words
Into a poem

Rain came unannounced
Got caught in a downpour
Hair dripping wet
Clothes soaking
Shoes squishing
Oh for a warm fire
To dry wet hair
Heat my clothes
Comfort my toes
In my shoes
A hot tea with cream
Would be nice
To follow

Day draws  to a close
Darkness has appeared
The moon brightly shines
Leaving dancing shadows
On my blanket
Stars above twinkle
Hoping to join in the show
But there are too.many
Out there to join in the fun
There's a calmness in the air
Stilling the hearts all around
Time to settle in and breathe
In the magic of nighttime
Close your eyes and dream
Of a  new tomorrow
Let your worries diminish
Let lovely thoughts abound
Good night sleepy head

Unwanted skirts
Unwanted lives
Tossed and thrown
To one another
Until both are permanently
Terminated in the hands of fate
Each finally reach their destiny
Of struggling no more
At the hands of others
Only to lie dormant
After fighting so peacefully
To be free

You seem to know when
I need a call or a note
What a friend you are

A cat 🐈 curled
Around my neck
Purring a happy
Melody
Letting me know
That all would
Be okay
Jumping up
To get her
Milk
To let her know

A cloud just
Burst open
Showering buckets
Of rain
On my flowers
And heart
Washing away
The dryness
And leaving
Me with
Sunshine

Grey clouds sadden me
Bringinging up old memories
I thought disappeared

Life means so much
Animals people flowers
All serve a purpose
Animals guide the blind
People helping each other
Flowers for beauty
And scent
Life is a Miracle
To experience
Ready or not

Without putting your mask on
Can you really win

Watching college football.games
Where are the masked fans

The Creator displayed

Making nonsensical jokes
As they try

Gossiping about
What's new

Of husband and wife
Sharing a moment
Or two

Of men and women
Laughing at
Their own mistakes
Oh for the giggles
That turns sadness
Into joy

Watch what comes from
Your mouth
Your words
Could bring sunshine
To a lost soul
Or damage
Someone for Life
Words can sting
And venom from
Them
Could cause even
Death
Choose words wisely
As you've probably heard
If you can't say
Something nice
Don't say it

Too many people

Alternating picking up
Fallen plants
Winds are blowing
Plants are falling
Harder the wind
Keeps blowing
The more the plants
Keep falling
Perhaps like me
The stronger it gets
The quicker I fall.

Lay there

My head
Like clothes in a dryer
Round and round
They spin
Until complete

Lots of paper
Trash can nearby

Becomes my mantra
Suddenly a sentence

Just tore at
My heartstrings
Little boy calling
Out to his adopted father
Daddy
Does he know he's adopted
Whether or not
He does.
Doesn't really matter
What matters
He is loved by
Someone he can call
Daddy

Just leave me alone
Perhaps for only
Today

Tomorrow
Whatever it is

So I can stare
At the empty
Wall of my
Imagination
And feel the bitter cold

But still accepting
Rustic smells in

Campfires far away

For warm apple cider
Long flannel shirts
Covering sun bleached
Skin
Squirrels running round
Gathering winter's  harvest
Birds heading for
A warmer place
To nest
Dogs sporting sweaters
Made just for them
While owners
Lead with jackets on
Another season has left
A new one ushers in
With a beauty
All its'
Own

Stuck with life sentence
My last meal is a poem

The ceiling
It must be early

The wind slaps
Across my face
Knocking me back
To my senses

The joy
To be alive

A vee overhead

Chill tingling my back
A warm hoody
To snuggle in
Warm apple cider
With a cinnamon stick
Oh yes the carnival

Full of laughter
And surprise

Abeautiful sun burnt
Orange leave
Daintily falling
To the ground
Lying on the walk
To be crunched on
Stomped upon
Sometimes I feel

Seasonal

The sky puts on
A show
Free admission
For those who
Look up
Soft clouds of tutu pink
And cottoncandy blue
And the sun
Banana yellow
With aquarium blue
Backdrop
The sight is
Astounding
Come back tomorrow
A new day full
Of surprise

I look in your eyes
There's no reflection at all
What happened to glow

Where are the children
There's no running or shouting
Children of the block

How peaceful the night
The moon so full
Shining light
For the sky
Is now a stage
Stars to the left

Rock the galaxy tonight
There's the.dish
And the spoon
And the cow who
Jumped over. the moon
Planets spinning all around
Even knocked a comet down
Lightning.struck
Earth gave a yell
Nothing left
No more to tell
