The Poet Prince
Grace E Jan 2019
He touches pen to paper
And writes his own salvation
The poet prince battles on
In his agonizing narration
The world in his fingers
He savors the sensation
And hopes to help some how
By exhaling inspiration
So he bleeds it all out
Every loss and fixation
And the poet prince battles on
And receives a silent ovation

Dawn
Grace E Jan 2019
He was early day
The first blush of dawn
The sun bursting through
The shoulders I hung my hope on

My heart was opened
The doubt unfurled
In the strength of his arms
My body was curled
I felt so safe
In the light he splashed through my dark world

Thoughts are Gems
Grace E Jan 2019
Emerald grass
And a golden sun
Opal moon
Stars of diamond
Sky of agate
Roses ruby red
Heart full of wonder
Gemstones in my head

So Grateful For
Grace E Jan 2019
As I softly ponder on the depth of beauty
This life offers us
I find myself most grateful for

The crinkle of book pages
The chorus of crickets at night
The moon in its various phases
Painful lessons that made me wiser
Gravity, pulling our feet to earth, suspending planets, pulling astronomical bodies in orbit around each other
Poetry
Shallow breathes of children as they sleep
Quiet, contrite spirits
The reconciliation forgiveness brings
The crunch of gravel underfoot
Mysteries
Weeping willows
Actions that speak louder than words
The color jade
Condensation rolling off warm shower curtains
Individuality
Warm hands holding mine
Studying new things
Kind people
Flamboyant red and pink sunsets
And deep, bellowing laughs felt from the soul

Jasmin and Grace
Grace E Jan 2019
The two women in his life

One had long black hair

One had long red hair

One he kicked out of the car during an argument

The other was the one kicking him out

One he lived with

One he married

One he left behind

One left him behind

The first was named Jasmin, like the flower or the oil. A name found in gardens and hung over arches

The other named Grace, notes of eternity laced her name. The softness of a ballet dancer intertwined in a single syllable

He should’ve stayed with the flower. I believe she loved him more

in love with an earth sign
Grace E Jan 2019
You’re a shade of brilliant earth
I, a hue of sapphire sea
O, the gravitational pull
A pale pink philosophy
The relentless ebb and flow
that exists between you and me

You’re a refining element
I, here to fufill your wishes
The night brings soft caresses
And chamomile kisses
Rolling in our white sheets
In a passion so delicious

That Kind of Love
Grace E Jan 2019
They say it’s impossible
To find the love that exists
In songs
In poetry
In films
But whole heartedly
I disagree
Because
Those mediums
Of songs
Poetry
Films
Simply wouldn’t exist
Without that kind of love
Not first being the muse
That inspires them

Night
Grace E Dec 2018
The sheets offer a brief respite
The stars in his eyes glow so bright
He graces me with a dewy kiss of night
And holds me in his arms so tight

— The End —
