He spoke
And light erupted
Trillions of stars scattered
Fixing themselves like diamonds
In the thick, black firmament
Gasping plasma into their regal frames
Their massive weight
Curving the fabric He wove for them to sit upon
They are the princes of the night sky
Singing of the Kings glory
All creation declares what He has done

A butterfly breaking from her chrysalis
Ripping, shredding through the parchment that encased her
The light kissing her wings in their desperate flutters for freedom
She was chaos, because she was alive

The years layered upon him
And compacted into dense sediment
The bygone years of all the people he has been
He showing only his smooth, stone exterior
Deceiving the girl he wanted
Never disclosing the years beneath
He wanted to just swallow her up in another layer of himself

Your voice was a furious ocean
Your words were sound waves
Reaching my listening shoreline
Crashing on my ears

Autumn leaves
In her hair

And now it’s too late.
And my heart is far from you
