When low tide surrounds you take what you can from it

I think there are two in my life
When I touched Henry David's desk at Walden
It was an epiphany and yet I wished he could speak with me
That is what happens when the words stay with the muse at least this one

Just doesn't ring true
You can't find paper or a pen
When it visits at strange times at ungodly hours of the night
Dare you say it or write it down
Yet,it lingers
Wont"t let you go
Try creating a new metaphor or simile
You want to remember yesterday but it just isn't anymore
It is a memory you cherish but look at in photo albums
Close them and visit every now and then
Like friendships that used to be closer but have changed too
Some will never come again
Every now and then
When the words won't come

This is not a decade poem
Age sometimes has wisdom but some are older souls though their birth certificates don't jive
It is only a number, folks
This is not about being correct
Learn when to say F off

The most important one I F Ed up and I apologize

Some have beauty and others lessons
Some thorns and others nightmares

When you love somebody
You sometimes put yourself on the back burner when necessary
Just needs to be that way
Then you realize you need to be number one every now and then
When You Love Somebiody you are not good for them if you are not good to yourself

Nineteen was awhile ago but I remember
You might have been younger but it does not matter
Just one look and you are forever changed
Slightly deranged
Your wiring misfires
You want that person so badly even if tbey don't know you are alive
You loose control.
You know your role and goal
The cold shower just won't do
To your own self be true
Or do you do exactly what you want to do with you know who?
He wanted to be friends

It resets
As you must do gently
If flies and soars
It is precious
Few and fleeting
Respect it yourself as you do others
Appreciate time and remember memories are incredible but you want to be a lot more than photographs and memories when your time is up
Hopefully that won’t be for a very long time

Two cats were under a tree trying to stay dry
Not a squirrel to be found on limbs or doing their acrobatic stunts today
Not even looking for food
Why Dear Clouds have you been crying and storming more than we are used to?
Where is the blue sky and sunshine?
Stars are not in the sky.
Perhaps you don't care for the world as it has become and want things to settle down and improve.
Strikes and name calling
Hatred and violence
If you are letting us know to heal things
You would be right
Somewhere along the line, we got stuck
Somewhere we went backward

Words accompany me when they are least expected
Pen and pad near or a means to remember
On Walden Pond, touched Henry David desk and what a moment
Thinking that would have been a great place to teach Walden
Taught but not about writing Poetry
These lovely friends have comforted me
Dried tears that many never see
Reminded me of people present and in the past
Some can speak and others write it
My students didn't know this poet
Sharing that is something that has taken many years to come out
It started on an eight year old's pad of paper
Writing listened and never judged what others could not know or understand
Years later it saved my life and others reading it now never knew who the Poetess is or was
Why do you write?
It knows me best
The muses know they are my best friends
Other than the love of my life, writing is my best friend

The trees were  Hulaed

The squirrels eat their nuts and find homes for the extras

Your acrobatics and sweet way of moving about would warm anyone's soul as long as they keep their distance

They play and dance in my head until they are ready to become a poem.
They have awakened me at hours meant for sleep and other activities.
They are a joy and great company especially when you would rather not speak.
Yet, you will be heard.

Our friends and comrades
Comfort and console us
Give us joy and pause as we try to get it right when we write
Befriended me when I was young and protected me from the bullies that still sadly exist in this world
Be they children or adults
Institutions or old school politicians who need to hit the road
Words  still do and am grateful we found each other
They are jewels that we adorn as we polish phrases and find the best ones to use in our craft
Until recently didn't know we were artists too
So much more than words that take more than your breath away
