I learned the truth at 65
That love and laughter have survived
Nothing in this world is free
This Ugly Duckling becomes a swan when he looks at me
When you open up the spaces that yesterday and time erases
Sometimes you go it alone
Lonely is like a discarded bone
Guess it’s true, I survived the pain
Since then love is different but yet the same
Maybe happy to be alive at 65
We jump the hurdles and find a way to thrive
We live life completely in awe
For all, we have been through and never really saw
Doesn’t matter about not being called when choosing sides for basketball

He spent forty years here
A bee stung him while watching a race outside
The tote board holds amazing moments and memories
He was a Harness owner and spectator
Four Starz Lights won the Jersey Sire Stakes
He won third leg and tne final race

Sad to see that Nostalgic look on so many faces

Weddings and birthdays were missed
Graduations and celebrations with an empty chair
Sons-in law, Grandchildren ,and now great grandchildren
We share photographs and we fill in the memories
There should have been more of those and time
Mom is with you now so you have company

Then the rain stops
Storms end
Rainbows appear
Hopefully the dark clouds  become the Bluest  of skies

Together everything is easier
But it won't be easy
Find a way to make it look like it is
Especially when everybody is looking
Who really cares if they are talking because you can't control what they think and say
They need to self edit and self control
Just know your heart and soul
There are surprises along with moments that will become memories
You will reach for them when they are needed on rainy and stormy days
Winter does come during the Summer so be ready though you can never be sure but be sure of each other
Not the way you imagined but incredible just the same
Choose your love carefully and only be crazy for your one and only

Alas when you are thrown over board
or been co-dependent this is the result
Going back and taking it is not an option
You mourn the loss or losses and carry on with your life
Because you are dead to certain folks

She was almost by the Redwood tree ahead of the storm
She couldn’t fly high enough to catch that rainbow
Her father told her when you see a rainbow I will be smiling down at you
She missed him terribly and he died when she was young
A Ranger noticed her wing was not working well and he puts piece of surgical tape on it until a vet or butterfly specialist at the park could see it
As the rainbow appeared she flew happily over the Ranger’s hat
The Monarch with a tear in her wing happily gazed at the rainbow above

When you love somebody
You sometimes put yourself on the back burner when necessary
Just needs to be that way
Then you realize you need to be number one every now and then

The squirrels decided to entertain with acrobatics while they found the roasted nuts left for them by several trees.
Some leaves were soaked from the rain while others stayed bright and green refusing to fall
The humidity and dew point have made walking a melting Olympic sport
Hypocrisy and ignorance dance around us while others just try to move forward and carry on
People have enjoyed meeting others while putting prejudice and arrogance behind them and that is delightful
Wardrobes are still in Summer for now and probably will be until November right before Thanksgiving
This is an East Coast September and used to bes like Neil Diamond wrote Just lie on the floor til you sweep them away
It is a different September no matter what coast you call home
I met my husband forty-four years ago this week so I have a thing for September and tall blue eyed men.
