A Santa Gift bag they can crawl into or explore
Chock full of toys from family that adore them
While they are still little and precious
Maybe next year but they will get them
A video or photo will suffice
Wish we could have seen this in person
Some wishes are not granted
At least Santa and his helpers came by for them

Two hours before an event?
Vaccines and boosted not good enough
Show cancelled because cast had Covid?
Best friend here and been two years since we have seen each other
Caution and careful
Staying home feels like walls caving in

The happy stories seems sad though most have a happier ending

They have no bows
They have no boxes
No gift wrap
They cannot be returned or exchanged
They can however be shared
We have all lost something or someone
We have learned to appreciate ,share, and give
Our lives as we once knew them have been kept on hold,
Rearranged and reclaimed while waiting to return to normal
Normal is abnormal
We have become anxious and judgmental
Some are so selfish that they cannot do the right thing
You ask what that is
Very simple.
Wear a mask
It is a small effort to protect yourself and others
Get vaccinated and boosted unless there is a medical reason why you cannot do so
Care about your family,community,and neighbors
Those are the greatest gifts

A Teddy bear that is a cherished gift
Chestnuts and the Rockerfeller Center Christnas tree
A friend who became best friend and love of your life
He gave you his last name and did not mind if you kept yours next to his
Just one look with hugs that still greet you daily
A kiss you can still taste years later
Driving just for the sake of spending time together with no place to go
And then it happens

Her green and gold leaves flow like Rapunzel's on this mild December day
You could almost climb those tresses
She welcomes the Blue Jays as they find a seat on her limbs
She sways on the breeze and watches cars and shoppers around her
Hope they stop to notice just how lovely she really is
