PRAYER
( for Rexanne )

The tree
lifted its arms

to the sky
and prayed for hours.

It offered up
all its leaves

that lay at its feet
like a woman

stepping out of
a yellow dress

birds came and sang
in all its branches

as if they were leaves
of living song.

As we left
it wore a sunset

and the birds
had become

stars.

WANTED:

Run down human
being

heartbroken
at the end of a tether

wannabe poet

sixty somethingish

must have own mind

Irish or at the very least
able to do the accent

be unable to tell
a lie

must have the double
initials D.D.

must have seven heads.

"Begobs..!" says I
to myself says I

the very job for me!"

I could do it standing on
my head>

Apply within it said
and so I did on a whim

the job was mine as long as I could be
all seven of my selves.

The woman is a blessing
The forever kind
Changed lives and lived every day as an inspiration to us all
A Storybook Love and Life
To Honor she isn't enough
She would not want that anyway
Your politics and ideas don't matter here
What she accomplished still grows and helps many
What matters is that we say farewell to this amazing human being
We should strive to be as kind and incredible as she was
To say the mold was broken is not enough but she was so much more than enough
She more than cared she did something with it and about it

I learned love isn’t always beautiful
Love will cut like a samurai sword
Like a ninja warrior in broad daylight,
It will hurt and may scar you for life.
It's not true that love shouldn't ever hurt,
The hurting just shouldn't be in vain.
Hurt in vain, is suffering.
And who the f….has time for that?
