As I drag open my eyes
I realise I am but one
A distant memory rises:
I remember two-people fun
It is clear you have left me
Yet why, I cannot ascertain
I'm disturbed by your phone to the left of me
At least my tears are hidden in the rain

I am writing this after the fact
After I pawned what was left of my car
It's still kind of hard to recollect
Though the memory isn't that far
For today I stand ready to buy back that wreck
Just so I can ride with you another day
Maybe this time to the death
Maybe this time you'll stay.
A poem that equates a broken heart to a car accident that renders the car unworthy for road use. Perhaps Romeo and Juliet were right: perhaps death is the only way to escape the inevitable end of a relationship.
