Can you see me?
Gazing up from the ground?
I'm still breathing.
Every breath is harder.
Than the last.
But I'm not stopping now.
Not anytime soon.
My hope is louder.
Than the blows you throw.
A heart can fracture.
It can even break.
But breath keeps breathing.
Long enough to heal.

Defuse me,

by reiterating words

I so long to hear.

Attention and tension...

Sirens Blare, mighty like the wind...

I heard someone say that was their favorite sound...

I think that's sad

Most of the time that is the death wail

Sometimes it's the sound of hope

Hope

The fire did not burn all the family photos

His wife still lives and bakes their grandchildren cookies

Hope

That sirens blares through the ether

Attention and tension

Hope
To find, to keep the one you love
Is not an easy feat, you see.
Tis difficult to locate one
Particularly suited to thee

For though thy love be pure and true
And supposed to last you all your days
Time often shapes a different plan
Forcing lovers to part in ways

Like leaves tossed in the winter wind
So will your heart pieces fly
Revisiting the bitter, barren past
Each touch, each kiss, each sigh

Until the wind doth settle down
And the frost rebuilds what was destroyed
Until thine heart is whole again
Ice filling in each crack and void

So frozen in this time is place
You’ll find your hardened self to be
You’ll miss the coming spring
And ignore each heart stretched out to thee

To find, to keep the one you love
Is not as easy feat, you see.
Tis difficult to give a broken gift
To one who means so much to thee.

Feelings fade and people change
choices are just taken chances
and love has it flaws
lines blur and memories fade
all that’s left is the pain
and pain is as common as grass.

I’m trying to find someone
who understands
Someone who’s been there–
someone who’s smiled like a fool,
suddenly understood what all those songs
are really about.
Someone who’s been frozen with anticipation,
known a limited number of days.
Someone who’s seen months trickle
to weeks
        to days
               to minutes
                    to that last moment.
Someone who’s felt the pain of that last embrace
Someone who’s known how it feels
to walk away for that final time,
knowing it’s the final time.
Feeling every nerve, every cell urging
you to run back to that place of delirium–
back to light and softness and silliness,
back to synchronized movements,
back to quirky phrases, laughter, and correct grammar,
even back to long work days, scheduling,
line notes, prop tracking, blocking
back to that connection that transcends
categorization.
Back to 1 AM hugs
Back to that enigmatic “love ya.”
