"I have to ***."
Was the first text
I got from you
After 3 weeks
Of nothing

You were
Sitting across
From me
In the only class
We have
Together

You smirked
When you saw
That I got the text

I didn't want to smile
Or show any emotion
I didn't want
To give you
The satisfaction
That you can still
Make me
Happy,
Even if it's just for
A split second.

And yet,
I smiled
Wider than the
Sky.

like you
(as in)
i find you
agreeable, enjoyable, satisfactory
(or as i would more deftly put it)
   i find you
  charming (you take my b r e a t h e    away)
     good-natured (kind and gentle)
  delightful (talented, funny, and intelligent)

i like you
   i find pleasure
     in your
  very existence.
   the fact
   that we breathe
         the same air
     encourages my feeble
attempts to go on.
i like you
     i find your body
  an endless sea
     of wave upon wave
         of delight, aching need
    stunning beauty
       and my only real
   connection to you.
i  like you
   i feel l i g h t e r
when you are around
  you restore my hope
     for humanity
         you light my way
i like you
  i am at a loss
for other words
  and yet i know
these are not sufficient.

Lieve
My lust gurgles in the back of my throat
like a thirst to have your skin beneath my lips.
I want your warmth to surround me and course through my body
like a hot gulp of bitter and black house blend.
When I hold you I want my hands to feel the heat of your blood
and the pumping of your heart;
I want my hands to feel safe in your heat.
Your taste makes my lips tingle with adrenaline,
as if I would do anything to take you all in at once.
Every day, I crave you deep and intensely life coffee.

I like you.
because you noticed me
when I was trying to be invisible.

I like you
because when I talk, you look me in the eyes
and listen to everything I have to say.

I like you
because when I jumble up the words I'm about to say,
you patiently wait until I'm unjumbled and set straight.

I like you
because you're you.

I like you
because there is a chance that you'll like me too.

I like the perfection of your mind
And each of your body parts.

I like that you're more than willing
To look up the answer to my questions on Google.

I like the amount of irony
Involved in our flirtation.

I like the fact that we have
A joint blog on tumblr.

I like that every love song
Reminds me of you.

I like that you never add "too"
To the end of an "I love you."
I'm fully aware that this poem doesn't do you justice.
When we were young,
Grown-ups told us that
When boys throw rocks and
Stones and pull your hair and
Shove you into the dirt, it means
They like you.

But they didn't tell us that when
Boys like you, it means they're
Going to throw insults and
Pull your heartstrings
And shove your face
Into the mistakes
You've made.

Boys

annmarie
sometimes
I think
that the nice ones
can be even more
dangerous
than the
bad boys.
You,
Or you,
Or you, or you.
But wait--you're far away too.

It's like being in a zoo,
Where "no touching" is something I'll always rue.
