Return to Beauty
Ali Jun 2018
I
My mind mostly whispers to me about love,
but talking about it has become
like trying to catch the wind.
Feeling its tantalising fingers
brush through my hair,
like a lover would.
I            must
             can’t
             must
             catch it
but,       it never lingers.

II
I in the sea
I long to see,
my face?
I long for my shadow
to transmute
into your bones;
I long to stop praying
to mortal kings;
I long to see
  your light,
but,            it never lingers.

III
Lovers are,
Nomads;
standing in the desert,
mouthing to each other,
that they are at Sea Levelencased
by sand,
the sea is nowhere in sight,
but they know.
Thus I stand in my desert,
you being everywhere,
though nowhere in sight,
haunted at Face Level --
but, you       never linger .

IV
My mind speaks to me of love,
and the ocean gazes back.

I long to sing your eulogy,
for I despise the mortal kings,
but just like a shiver,
it spills into the wasteland.
Thus I stand mute,
longing for my bones,
to transmute into your
moleskin shadow.

V
We reside
in no-man’s-land;
the slit between reality and dreams
beneath the wet blanket
of nightfall,
rebelling against the incremental seconds.
We lay
unbidden and beckoning,
in naked rooms
that seep of mythology,
dreaming
of existing as flames -
the sole entities
without shadows.

VI
Light breaks upon us; a
vigour from an ancient life
stabs through the air.
Our hearts rise like wheat;
acres and acres
of gold and gold.
And we cultivate,
we harvest.

VII
I watch the sun
melt in your hands
you, blazing flame,
take my hand and
dance me out of martyrdom,
so we can begin our return
our return to

Hallowed Ghost
Ali Jun 2018
HERE
                                        & HERE

                                                                        & HERE
&
HERE,
is the place
where it all happened,
where our atoms collided
in haphazard ways;
the meeting of you & I
under the seraphic night sky,
all those voltaic moments,
where I felt your presence,
and it felt like
/ H O M E /

THEN,
is when
we reeled in the airflow
between
the crossways of our dreams;
when we confided in each other,
laying in abysmal
trenches.

/ say min, will you find me? /
/say, would you kiss-a my blind eyes? /

THERE,

                                              & THERE

& THERE,
is where
I was struck by lightning,
and melted into fluid,
counting the gleams on your eyelashes
searching for ways to
make you smile,
walking beside me in the sun.

/ say min, will you remember? /
/say, would you kiss-a my blind eyes? /

HERE
&
HERE,
is where
you buried all your secrets,
pleated underneath my mortal skin.
Where you colonized my body and
was the first to graze my lips
without bruising.

THERE
                                                         & THERE
&

THERE,
is where
you planted your riddled kiss
- the one that awoke the world-
as we roamed the streets at night
[our empty stage]
drawing creases in the snow.
&
THEN,
is when
we took over the whole town and
held hands like we invented it.

NOW
EVERYWHERE
echoes of us echoes of you echoes of mine echo echo echo

****--
your mud eyes
and charged tongue.
I want to breathe air into your lungs
and tell you I love you the most,
and that’s all right,
if you’re thinking of

Pacific Ocean
Ali Jun 2018
On the night of the surrender the moon rose late,
Like a blind insignia
Hovering in the dark.
-----------------------------
A distant radio utters a song that
seems written to be played on the last night of the world;
‘L o v e, o h c a r e l e s s l o v e’,
And nostalgia rips me swinging.

Time passes, unslackening,
Memories spin round in a blur and
Washes onto the shore- derelict, adrift--
Leaving us wondering,
‘ H o w w i l l i t e n d?’

We listen, in pained silence,
As the ocean murmurs - as ever before; beloved, unbinding-
A song about us -beloved, blind -
Leaving us wondering,
‘ H o w c a n i t e n d?’
For now, just promise me this;
You won’t unwish one thing we did, but
Wear them all like beautiful impurities.

Now I hold you, as you lay – sleepless- and the
Raw, naked twilight draws shimmering
Figures on your skin,
Leaving me wondering,
How anything f r a g i l e
s u r v i v e s.

Now I hold you, as you lay – sleepless-
Foreknowing the absence that one day, elsewhere,
You will look up
And missing something,
For a second not know what it is,
And through that heartbeat’s gap,
The manner of love and its bodyweight
-The tide of everything-
Will break like the Pacific Ocean,
                                                      Upon
                                                               Your

                                                                           Head.
