Anxiety
has been
creeping in
under the door
and seeping into
my floor
so each step
I conquer
poisons
my toes

I saw her sitting on the curb with somebody, smoking an extra cigarette so she could stay an extra four minutes. That's how long it takes her to smoke each time. He lit one next to her and they talked about whatever reasons they had to complain that day. What's worse than knowing exactly what's going to happen next? This train's whistle is wailing and begging me to get off the tracks, but the ropes are tied just tightly enough so I can wriggle and squirm and scream but it's not enough to roll over the rail. I'll see him lying next to her admiring long black hair and a colorful elephant tattoo. The scent of stale smoke radiates from their lips as he leaves for the night — with their teeth stained a little darker now from reheated coffee. Soon they'll empty every bottle in the place and slip out of their clothes between dark red sheets stained from her teeth sinking into my neck. I'll be buried in the churchyard, my last rites read by a thief.

Bee
Bury me with my poppy.
My greatest memory; my simple joy.

Spring time brings brightness--
colors other than white.
A flushed landscape from

stamen performing as paint;
replicating a sleepy orange
yellow, green, red

I contemplate picking the poppy
to keep for myself.

Life feels large
like the sparkling lake--
that cold sunny hour when you sat
by a fire bordered by icy rocks.
The earth sheltered in poppies.

We all expect moments without an end.
Post-bloom petals fall flat before falling away.

Miracles can be a curse or a blessing,
brave or cowardly,
Swallowing up certainty.

Poppy tears
slowly release memories--
a crisp deliberate euphoria.

I leave behind the orange flower.
Appreciation is not lost.

why did the residual effect continue to reside-ual within the mind I articulated as a master plan to nowhere in particular and particularly no one hurting questions like they're bigger answers to something you never wished to ask or asked to squish like mantracker episodes on OLN where you're hopping the bush like a freight train through the Utah Salt Flats, O' beautiful, buttered misery!
Why do so many
strangers
tell me they see
god in my eyes
when inside
I am
godless

                              the answer to the test
the answer i have tested since
despite the veto of a roshi's sleeve

while adults justify in frowns and threats
commandment-etched
i am a child still
aghast at drawing lines in sand to mark the living
                                           from the soon to die

one i knew who drew such lines
for whom a line was drawn to mark himself as well
not just in votes and homeland hate-speech
you see
he crossed the line
                        no unadulterated childhood can cross

he shot  his  own  face
or at least his face was shot
                when he was found
who can read the final lonely moments of another
when mistakes are easier than ownmost acts ?

bombing bullies politicking death
                 can sanctify the safe
unpunctuated traps
                     dividing moods in swallows
pills
swilled with undigested fear
                                   of nozzled death
mercilessly sudden

working notes:
a tone in flux, a new eureka spoken for an ancient crowd

a guru's overbearing beneficence
the roshi's cryptic dismissal
adult scorn of immaturity

sanctified trapping of division
