The Terry Tree May 2014
It happened six seconds from now
When you found it, a note
With your name on it
Floating about
Cross the parkway it sang
Towards the bridge
in intervals
As a musical undersong
in lucid refrain
As birds might take flight
Upscaled whistling wings
Toured and glided
Generous words filled the sky…

“You are a magnificent spark,
glowing deep in the belly
of your disfigured heart.”

You began to
Unshell yourself
Of the places that drowned
Your pitch
Places that resemble the traces
That linger around
In a ditch
To destroy you
Just to surround you
Just to employ you
with empty
infertile dreams
“I love me not” sounds
In a chorus of
Breath crushing screams

Now teeming with light
Everything you lost in the river
Replaced to quench your thirst
Now beaming you fight
To feel yourself again as blood bursts
Through everything that you hate yourself for
Every morning and night
Erased, no longer abandoned
By the ones you thought
Would be there the most

This is a toast
Of water
Of love
Of strength
From above
From below
Incoming between

Entering
Arriving
Approaching
And diving
Into your soul

An explosion
Of forgiveness
In the form of an ocean
Released
No longer tied to defeat
Swallows of love
Sweetly teach
You to sing
With soft bellows
You wear the song
Like a ring
Wedlock of water
You walk into the fire of life

Those who have love, be strong with your love
The ones we have left are the ones that have kept
Their hearts with their homes in their chests

Yes the world that we live in makes it clear from the start
From the moment you're born, hold on tight to your heart

For to love and be kind will not keep you alive
To be cruel is a tool many use to survive

My prayer, as we gaze into life's riddled maze
For Dear God, those of us left behind...

Here on earth, Divine Mother
Teach us how to uncover
To encourage and nurture each other

Oh Dear Love, with what worth help us pave and rebirth
What a new generation of thought will behold, without doubt

A Kindness shall rise, cruelty fall away
Goodness-
Find a home in the beds that we lay

This is a gift
that cannot be wasted
our breath to it pass
through our lung
it is tasted
and in matters so scantly
do our questions unanswered
sleep quietly at the footrest
of paradise

We are moments awaiting to happen
a gift that can hardly be wasted

I cry for the world tonight.
For all the love
that aches to deserve.
I cry for the world tonight,
and every voice that
deserves to be heard.

We stand on a tiny moment
that astounds our ability
To understand
it’s intensity, fragility
and sensitive nature at hand

This is my cry,
This is my comforter
My bonfire

If one scrapes to find
A solution for
Every complex mathematic
He or she escapes the meaning
While the true soul sings ecstatic

I cry for the world tonight
For all the love
that aches to deserve
I cry for the world tonight,
and everything that deserves
to be loved.

I want to sing the right words
I want for you to rest your pretty head,
hurt-less.

I will pet your cheek.
So smooth I will comfort
your sensitivity.
I will connect you
Little pieces by pieces
I will paint with thickness
I will sew the stitches-
In love

Unsettled your eyes with tears
give back, I will give back
the gentle kisses that you spent
I will hammock you
reborn
Everything destroyed in you
I will put back together

With angels you will be
With wings to set you free
With angels you will be
With wings…
