Dust
dances with
butterfly's
in the beams
of the mid afternoon sun.
The dust dances with the butterflies
In the beams of the mid afternoon sun
Barley sways to the tune of the sultry breeze
My eyes light up between the tall hypnotising stalks
As the grass caresses me tightly in the warm summer sun

I close my eyes and sleep

The moon beam reads my skin as the goose bumps rise up
My eyes slowly awake and my mind grasps the crisp still night air
Darkness flows over me
Every movement crunches, like a cinema snack
I feel a thousand eyes, but no one is there
As I escape from the silence, heart pounding, adventure over

Just killing time?
My eyes scan my room while sat in my bed
The book shelf and the books I’ve read

They filled my mind so I’m able to sleep
Memories, interpretations only I can keep

My friends my lovers my companions of time
Faithful friends to the end of my line

Building dreams of fantasy like aged old wine
As I look back at my life, was I just killing time?

Sadness overcomes me as I sit in my bed
And look at the books I have still not read

But, Time has not caught up with me yet!

Rugby season
The smell of the oil as it's rubbed on your shoulder
The passion of the coach , we must be much bolder
The hatred of a player on the opposite side
The knowing when you'er out there there's nowhere to hide
The whistle has blow your anxiety drop
The firsts tackle made is a 19 stone prop
The taste of your blood makes it all worth while
The prop gets up and gives that I'll **** you next time smile
The old man on the score board sets our team to win
The small crowd on the side making all the din
The referees whistle calls the game to end
The prop who tried to **** you is now your friend
The hot water finds your wounds without any tear
The thought of some grub and a pint of beer
The game you so love has come to its end
The club house the banter a chat with a friend
The talk of the game the rights and the wrongs
The choir master arises and we blast out our songs

See you training
Rugby is a game for men with leather *****.

I tried to catch the wind
You slipped though my fingers
I held you so tight
Searched all our haunts
In that cold winter night

You were carried away
His eyes bluish green
That smile on your face
The brightest I’d ever seen

So I packed my V4
Mind destroyed, feelings skinned
I sailed down that highway
Trying to catch the wind

Dunk it
A biscuit
A tea cup
An old shaky hand
Leave it to long
It just turns to sand
Get it just right
Don't let it float like a boat
It will crunch and slither
Down your welcoming throat

The Wise Old Owl
The owl was looking at the man with a noose
Disturbed by the noise as he cooked his goose
But before he leapt the owl did say
Do you really want them to remember you this way?

The pain is real but will go away
The wise old owl was heard to say
The man with the noose, stopped and thought
He’s right, a lesson in patience I’ve just been taught

So he walked through the woods stood on a track to ease his pain
Then was killed by the 10.42 south bound train

The owl was watching in the branches so high
He is the only one who knew he did not want to die
So the moral of his death is like sand in a cup
When your time is up, your time is up

Evening All
The air is still in this deep dark black night
Not a light flickers or a noise disturbs the silence
A wrong turn, alone in this city of sin

A foot step echo's in the distance as I slide into a door way
Senses alight and neck tingling hairs awaken
My eyes come to terms with the dark and shows me a way

Then a match strikes and I see the whites of his eyes staring
Smoke covers his face as he reaches deep into his black coat pocket
And lights up my face with a bright police torch beam

Dressed in white
An angle appeared in her heavenly glow
The devil on her shoulder pointing which way to go
I pondered a moment should I follow the light
Or the drugs and the drink of that deep dark night

I hovered on the brink as I pulled myself back
And watched as the light turned into a deep blood black
Guided by heaven from the screams of the night
For tonight and tonight only, I'm dressed in white

"You can close your eyes"
"Well the sun is surely sinking down
But the moon is slowly rising

And this old world must still be spinning 'round
And I still love you

So close your eyes

Well it won't be long before another day
We're gonna have a good time

And no one's gonna take that time away
You can stay as long as you like

So close your eyes"

A Celtic Storey
The druid in their long white cloak
Gathering mistletoe from the wise old Oak

They wonder at nature in the forests of Ynys Mon
Their wisdom is lost the forest all gone

But somewhere deep in the heart of this land
Under a willow they gather and dance hand in hand

The willow is sacred and here’s the reason why
The robin the butter cup the blue Butterfly

Now mystics fall to sleep gathering the fern as a pillow
After dancing and dancing around the sacred twisted willow

So
When you travel through this Celtic valley of dreams
Remember all is not what it seems
A year has passed since our last farewell
Am I healing, only time will tell?

You visit me as I lay asleep on my bed
We smile, we talk, undo the sad things we said
Yet when I awake I still believe your whole
Time is healing; healing is time, who's the fool

I know now I have to say my last farewell
Will time heal me, only time will tell?

A little longer
The winter wind bite one last time
As my bones shudder
attacked to the core

Yet

The daffodil
bows with every blow
Then with its colourful smile
and suborn resistance

Guides me on to spring
and what is to come
I watch from the corners
Mesmerised with obsession
My blood over boiled
My head full of passion

Then through the corner
You passed my mind’s eye
You twirled in a movement
As if trying to fly

As I edge closer
My head swayed with the tune
Our eye clasped together
Life a wolf’s cry at the moon

I tapped on his shoulder
And he slipped off the floor
Our bodies came closer
Already wanting for more

The scent on your neck
Made my senses go wild
The warmth of your body
Left me nowhere to hide

Then as we circled the dance floor
The crescendo grew louder, the pace didn’t drop
But, abruptly the music
Just came to a stop

I look into your eyes
Your smile left me Bereft
All the ladies in the row
Took a step to the left

My dance is now over
As I move out of the ring
The partner who replaced me
Just smiled with a grin

The corner now beckons
A safe place to stay
I’ll watch for a while
Until I’m ready to play

Happy V Day?
When young love entangles you like prey in a spider’s web
Wrapped warm and helpless
Awaiting the kiss of death
You
Suddenly you break free
Spreading your wings
Embracing the death you have left behind

Yet still the addiction of love
Reaches out
Love finds you older and wiser
Eager
Now embraced by the happiness
You let go
Distracted
The web tightens around both of you
A bond that can only be broken by the evilest of deeds

What is to follow
Will be your love story

Please tell!

Mirror Mirror
I glanced in the mirror
As I walked through the hall
A face in the aperture
That I did not recall

He was older than I remembered
And looked tired and worn
A face of great experience
All battered and torn

But the eyes still sparkled
When he winked and smiled
The good times remembered
When that youngster was wild

As the sun light dimes on another year
The moon will rise high bringing new hope and cheer

To mark the end of another ordinary day
Good hope and health to all of you I pray

Let us shout from the highest mountains
In poems and song
Put all the things right that has gone so wrong

When we meet again this time next year
2018 will bring great cheer, great cheer

Flowing in the winter wind

Bursting high above you

As they brake and lap over
Your naked feet

Caressing you they
Slip back out to sea

The house settled slowly into a deep deep sleep
The floor board could be heard yawning
The wind brushed the window
he's coming it whispered
Hush said the bed with a sock hanging from it's nose
the children are asleep

The cat lay sleeping on the settee
and let out a one eyed peep
as dust fell from the chimney
The dog in the armchair sat up
ears touching the celling
as he saw the footprints of Santa’s soot-black feet.

Now the smell of Christmas wafts through the house

The children’s noses twitched
And let out big Christmas yell
Quick, SANTA’S BEEN

All the house was awoken to the sounds
of great joy and the happiness

The smiles on the faces this day
light up the world
and we wish it could be Christmas every day

The end, you choose.
I shall not ask why
Only pray that you’re happy

You took my life

The day you forfeited yours
Did you think through the pain
and sadness left

Or was your own
Too much of a burden

I would see
The stars sparkle
In your eyes
One last time
Before I let
the earth consume you

Peace is with you now

I will hold on to mine
To carry your burden
Of why

The Christmas Owls
Silently they race
In the dark Christmas night

The golden candle lit windows dim in the distance
The happy parents smiling gratefully
As they pack the freshly delivered presents under
The newly decorated Christmas tree

Wings scattering the falling snow
As it rests on the still forest below
 Swooping low, tightly holding
Their lovingly wrapped Christmas presents

The unsuspecting children
Smiling, snug and sound asleep dreaming of Christmas
Twit twoo twit twoo they call as the last present
Is packed tightly under the Christmas tree

The light rises, the small eyes open
Christmas is upon us

A WINTER TEAR
The cold wind swirls and blows
a snow flake falls
On the twitching nose of the white winter hare
as he sits watching

A blanket of white winter snow now
fills his eyes
Where he would run and jump
in the hot summer sun

A tear falls from his sad sad eyes
as he retreats into his winter sleep

THE WHITE WINTER HARE
The cold wind swirls and blows
on the now deserted farmers field
A snow flake falls from the deep dark grey clouds
that now covers the once blue golden sky
On the nose of the white winter hare
                                     as he sits watching
His noise twitches the snow flake to the ground

A blanket of white winter snow now fills the field

A Robin darts from tree to tree
foraging for the last red winter berries
Which colour the ruby red Robins’ breast

A sly white winter fox stirs in the undergrowth
                                    Looking
Then disappears into the white winter field

A tear falls from the white winter hare
that melts a hole the white winter snow
As he retreats into his winter sleep

A walk in Bute Park
To ease the pain of your anti depression
Let me walk you through your first park lesson

Accustom your eyes to autumn’s wonderful display
Leaves of orange, yellow and some even grey

The branches alive with birds dancing around
And the collectors of nuts scurrying about on the ground

The jogger the biker and one man on a ski
The people out walking, the cafe, the hot tea

Winter flower's start to blossom in the sun cold day
A coloured relief from the winter of grey

The bridges, the river, the afternoon tide
The secret garden with their doors open wide

The carvings of seals, beetles and one giant frog
Walkers, walking Lurchers, pugs, and a fast whippet dog

So throw away your anti depressants of glom and pain
Get out doors walking, in the sun, cold, and rain

Let the wind blow through you wash your problems away
A walk in the park will always turn, a grey day

The confused psychiatrist
When I look into a poets mind
Normality alas has been left far behind

A jumbled mass of words and thoughts
Like Ghandi on holiday in a pair of lycra shorts

It’s my job to assess and try to mend the pain
But a poet it seem likes the aura of the insane

So ill listen politely and smile at the right time
Then tell the mad poet everything will be fine

Now when they are gone and their words I read
Such a sad lament makes my heart sadly bleed

Not for the poet alas it’s too late
But for the next poor person they ask out on a date
I saw you throwing stones on the old wooden pier
I turned to look away I never saw you disappear

My distraction was the ripples rolling up along the sand
The bubbles in the water and a fist clenching hand

The silence that did follow Sent chills along my spine
I still don’t know your name I never cared because you weren’t mine

Always tomorrow
The night has drawn in
The day is no longer light

The hope this day might bring
dissipates into the night

I'll not lay my head and bathe it in sorrow
For I'm a true believer, always tomorrow

Then as the morning awakes me to face another day
My faith in my god will light my way

Nos Galan Gaeaf
The shadows are walking in the still night air
The lights are flickering there is someone there

As you turn your head the shadows turn too
You look for the light the light follows you

You pray to your maker to show you the way
It says, "let them play", it’s just for one day

So I watch the wide eyed face as they gather around
And the happiness within when a friend is found

Now when the shadow confront me I will not shudder or scream
I’ll let the dead people enjoy Halloween!

The hibernating garden
She snuggles into her warm
green winter blanket
disturbing the last seeds of summer

That will be a welcome winter feast
for the small winter birds
As they forage around her bedding
collecting their winter store

Spiders casts their webs
around the sea of green sagging stalks
Hoping to fill their nets with
one last harvest

The light dims

A sleepy mouse shows its head
from under the garden shed door
Zig zaging across the decking
munching on a slug
who stayed out a little too late

The toad
who has been eyeing his supper
As the sun was setting
over the now sleepy garden
Was not amused
and puffed his body out in anger,

only to spy a worm
peeking her head out of the decking groove
Checking out all the commotion
Gone in an instant
to the now happy toad

A black and white cat
quietly surveys
from her vantage point
on top of the tired sagging
roofed garden shed

As the still night
washes over the garden
the animals blend
back into their garden home

Waiting

Healing Time Time Will Heal
A year has passed since our last farewell
Am I healing, only time will tell?

Yet when I awake I still believe your whole
Time is healing, healing is time, who's the fool

I know now, I have to say my last farewell
Will time heal me, only time will tell
As the fog lifts
The future becomes clear
In the end
There is only the dark

But for now
I must crave the light
To live my life
I will follow the sun

Only then
Will I welcome the dark?

A white field of dreams
Blind my thoughts

Yet here I stand
Pallet in hand

How honest, how untouched this white field of dreams

I’ll wait until I have a dream worthy

Tomorrow could be too late!
AS I lay you to
Rest
In
Peace

I realise how much I will miss you
How much I loved you
How much we were one

Why
Why now are these emotions released?
Why now do I feel alone?
Why now do I realise how happy you made me

Another chance
If I could see you now I would say
I love you
I have never been so happy
I will care for you

Grief
Time has made us immune to each other
Death has infected me with love once again
Please don’t leave me
Once in the corner of my
you were gone

Then wrapped in his arms
you were gone

You held out your hand I reached
you were gone

I smelt your perfume turn looked
you were gone

Rushed home to our house
you were gone

Then I awoke
You turn kissed my cheek
I cried

how luck I was
you are back

I won't sleep tonight

Did anyone hear their call

Whatever you want it to be

But it has it be

Your heart
Your sorrow
Your happiness

Dragged from the ocean left gasping on deck
Pleading for mercy as a knife meets its neck

We now set our sights on the food above ground.

Easter conundrum
I remember that morning
as if it was yesterday
I took the empty buckets
to carry water

He looked sad but smiled at me
and my day brightened
He looked as a great burden had
fallen from his shoulders

As I retraced my steps

I hear crying and saw tears
from smiling face
And sat on the bolder at the
entrance of the cave to watch

I still do not know the significance
of that day
But I felt happier for it
